Charge 2 auto recognize recognizes wrong activity

I take daily walks and sometimes my Fitbit recognizes it as "elliptical" and sometimes "walk." Sometimes, both in the same walk. I shrugged it off for the longest time, but I do Weight Watchers and I have my Fitbit linked to my account for "Fit Points." I was earning way too many points for a walk that was being recognized as an elliptical workout. I am in maintenance, so accuracy is a big deal to me.

I don't do any crazy arm movements with my arms--just arms down at my sides, no pumping or swinging, so I am perplexed. Yesterday, I turned off the auto recognize for elliptical thinking that would fix my issue and went for a walk. It never recognized my 90 minute walk, so I received no points/calories for my efforts.

Has anyone else had this problem? If you did, how did you fix it?

And please, don't tell me this is a WW issue. There's a mod here who shuts down every discussion about WW with "It's ALWAYS WW''s fault."  Clearly this is a Fitbit issue, because of how my movements/motion are being interpreted by the Charge 2.

@Poodlepants Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well!

Let me help you with your activity detection. It is odd that your are getting double activities. Do you have any other third party app linked to your account. Still disabling elliptical detection is the best move here. Which other activities do you have for auto detection? Try using the activity mode on your tracker for your walks so it is easier to record your routine.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Alvaro-

The only app my Fitbit is connected is Weight Watchers.

I turned elliptical back on today and I got auto recognize my walk today, strange. I have all activities on auto detect, since I didn't realize I could turn them on and off until yesterday. I'll try activity mode tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks for responding and not telling me this is an issue on Weight Watchers' side.

Hi. I have a Fitbit versa and have a similar issue. I went biking yesterday and started the bike exercise on my Fitbit. After my ride when I checked WW I had biking on there but also two others labeled outdoor bike for differing amounts of time. Today I took a walk, the fitbit auto recognized the walk, but on WW there are two walks. The fitbit reflects the correct exercise but based on the fact that the extra bikes are outdoor bike, which is an auto recognized exercise it seems to be sending the wrong info. Any thoughts?

Hi Alvaro,

The same thing is happening to me. When I go walking, sometimes an elliptical workout is auto recorded. Sometimes it records it in addition to my walk. I am concerned that this is giving me the impression I can have more calories than I should. Can you help me disable the elliptical auto tracker?

Thank you, Alice

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Madaood. Thank you for letting us know that your Fitbit registers an elliptical workout in addition to your walk.

How are you registering your walk? You can always delete the elliptical activity in order to remove the apparent extra calories.

Keep on visiting the forums.

This is a Fitbit issue because it would happen to my Mom too and a friend and neither one of them belongs to WW.
