Charge 2 screen stopped working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After less than 10 months of use, my Charge 2 screen has gone blank.  Still tracks steps/HR/sleep.  Have tried restarting to no avail.  I did attempt to contact Customer Service via the chat feature, but have given up waiting after a couple hours of nothing.

Wait for a few days to let the battery die, and then try charging it. Tell us what happens after @Twin_Dad

Hello.  Apparently, if the screen doesn't work, the battery lasts for 10 days.  Finally died yesterday, so I recharged and restarted it.  No change.  What's next?

The screen of mine just did the same thing. It started with scratchy lines across the front and then I'd tap it and it'd show. Finally today, it has gone completely blank and all attempt to get it to show didn't work. It is syncing and tracking but that's all.

Just when I thought all FitBit issues had been resolved. I have had 2 of the old charge HR replace multiple times before I upgraded to this model and now this.

What do I do? Thanks.

Hey @ZifK , I hope you are doing fine! I'm sorry to hear that the screen of your Charge 2 is not working at all. Just to confirm, can you please tell me if you already tried to restart your Charge 2? If you haven't, please follow these instructions:

1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You'll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker's display. Your Charge 2 will begin charging.
4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi,

I’ve restarted still no response. The battery ran out and I tried to charge it but it didn’t hold charge and went off completely. Now it’s dead and non responsive to all CPR and shock attempts.

@HeydyF thanks. I am just seeing this. I called customer service and got the charge 3 special edition. The charge 3 though isn't syncing sleep, weight and water on the tracker itself just on the app. There's a discussion that's been going on for about 5 months now and no response from the FitBit team. Can you help? Thanks.

Hi there, same thing happened to my Charge 2. All was well last night, woke in the morning with no display at all. I tried resetting it once then 3 times in a row. I’m now going to wait until the battery dies, but at this time it is fully charged. I am able to sync the information to my phone app, but that’s it. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I did all of that to no avail. I had to call customer care and got a 50% coupon towards the charge 3 as mine was still under warranty. Funny thing is that a few days after, I saw the light blinking at the back but it still refused to hold charge or come on when I tried. I guess like all electronics, they are not built to last longer than 2yrs (my charge hr also lasted 2yrs). Or maybe it's me. Cheers.

I'm experiencing a similar problem with my Charge 2. It seemed to be working fine but the next time I looked it was completely blank as if the battery was dead. I put it on charge but remained blank but eventually took a charge and seemed to be working. It only lasted a few hours and was dead again. Now it won't display anything. The green lights underneath are just glowing but don't have that lively flicker as it use to. I think it might need replacing.

Hey there, I tried all of this as well, and the best I got was 1/2 of the screen flickering on the restart.   It's still on, still synced to my phone - Just no display.

It's not even 2 years old, so I'm pretty disappointed to see that this appears to be a pretty common problem.  What can I do?

I just experienced this problem too. Last night my Charge 2 was working fine and at a solid 50% battery life. Woke up this morning, black screen. The sensors on the back are still blinking green and functioning, and it does buzz when clipped into the charger. I've tried restarting (via USB port on my laptop and standard USB compatible plug) multiple times, and it does vibrate, but all to no avail. My Charge 2 just passed the 2 year old mark in April. I'm so sad and I feel so naked. 😞

Hi MissDire,
Sorry for the delay in replying.

I contacted FitBit via email in the hope they could assist. Whilst they where sympathetic they wouldn’t replace it because it was past its warranty, (just over 2 years old). They offered a substantial discount on a new one but when I compared their discounted price against other suppliers they cost the same, so in affect, they didn’t really offer anything.

You can actually get replacement batteries but your issue doesn’t seem to be that.
My Charge2 had battery problems and the screen not working. Whilst I changed the battery I still couldn’t get the screen working. It’s quite a fiddly job changing the battery. It’s not a job I would recommend to anyone unless you are experienced in soldering tiny parts.

Nevertheless, I couldn’t get my charge2 working so ended up buying a Xiaomi Mi Band 3 Fitness Bracelet, which is considerably less expensive. It’ll do for now. I might get lucky and get a new FitBit for Christmas lol.

Same problem with my screen and support has offered nothing but resetting which didn’t work. Still is tracking everything but nothing appears on the screen.

I woke up to a black screen and completely dead. Doesn't take a charge nor is it tracking on the app. Just dead, no warning at all. I too am so sad and feel naked too! Mine is less than 2 years old. Bought new through Amazon. Anyone know if it's under warranty?

No. Warranty only up to 10 months they said. Sent 25% off code for a new one and didn’t try anything but resetting. Good luck.

This is all just a bunch of crap. Seems a little suspicious that this has happened to so many people. I have a friend who had a charge 2 and the exact same thing(s) happened to hers as well a few months ago.

I've looked on Amazon at different options. There are so many that have incredibly better ratings than the Charge 2 and are also a fraction of the cost, with many of the same features.

I think I know what I'm doing; and it's going to start with selling all of my Charge 2 straps/bands. Maybe SOMEONE still has a functioning Charge 2. Lol. Thank you everyone for your replies and assistance.

I am having the exact same problem.  I have tried the reset steps multiple times with no success.  Tried letting the battery empty, recharged and then tried to reset and it did not work.  The device is syncing with the app but the display will not come on at all.
