My charge 2 is going hay wire... turning notifications on and off all on it own.

How can you even ask that question with all these posts experiencing the same problem!  Mine started doing this yesterday and first thing I confirmed on my own is that the button was not stuck or being depressed.  I've reset, re-charged and have never submerged it in water.  Only 2 yrs later, this starts happening.  My 4th fitbit within 5 years tells me that I need to look at a different product for my next tracker device.

Don't bother arguing with Rich. He is a brand ambassador. Rich is intentionally muddying the water with phones.

The charge 2 will switch between notifications on and off. While detached from the wearer. It will cycle it's options without being attached to the wearer. Once this begins it is time for a new device.

Fit bit will only offer 25% discount since this continually happens outside of warranty. Seems to be within a couple months if being out of warranty.

Im not muddying up an already hijacked muddy thread, simply pointing out how hijacked it is.

Whilst some people have been confused over what is happening, the general gist has been that the watch starts misbehaving at random with the notifications cycling on and off. Ultimately most people find that their watch ultimately dies.

Having a “go” at a contributor doesn’t help.  Everyone needs to feel that they can air an opinion even if others disagree. There are lots of issues with the Charge 2 and the one I bought in June this year to replace the one that died also developed a fault.  A different fault. Very frustrating.

However, Being loyal or stupid or irrational (my prerogative) I have upgraded to the new 3. The issues of the charge 2 appear to have been ironed out. I am happy so far. Yes - a totally expensive few years with what has been faulty products, but I was willing to try once more and am pleased I did so.

Fir the cynics amongst you, I have no association with Fitbit and obtained no discount.

I think the company may have listened and done more research and the new watch seems good

that was not the message I wanted to send though. I was prompted to write again after contributing to this thread in June as the hijack of the problem does not warrant antagonism or silence. We all need to voice opinions to ensure that problems are addressed in some way.

Apologies if I offend anyone

Rich_Laue, you are wrong.  Everyone has explained the same basic problem and the company is ignoring it and you are trying to make the problem something else.  The notifications turning off and on has nothing to do with the phone type. It is a Fitbit Charge 2 problem.

The normal reason for notifications on the Charge 2 to get turned off is simply because of some reason the button got held in to long

Best Answer
Rich, I think almost every owner knows that holding in the notification button changes the status.
It is the rapid cycling on and off constantly that is the issue. You have no control whatsoever of any other function because your watch is doing its own thing and will not let the owner interrupt until the battery is dead.
This is a completely different situation to the one that you are describing.
Lucky you if you have not had this problem. The owners who have experienced it do get very frustrated and we are envious of those who have not.

Hi everyone. Thank you for your participation in this thread. I do want to mention that @Rich_Laue does have a point when he says that there are many issues being discussed at the same time. Several troubleshoots have be already suggested so new posters are invited to check for them in this thread. @Mairharper you wouldn't believe how many users don't know about the Do Not Disturb feature but this is why the Community exist and clarifying this has helped many of them. Still the issue you describe isn't what it is expected from your device (continuously scrolling through screens or having the notifications on and off as if you were pressing the button). For this you can try using compress air at a distance to clear the button area and then restart your device. If the issue persist then please let our Support team know so they can further assist you.

Let me know how it goes!

@AlvaroFitbit@Rich_Laue

I'm sorry if you feel the pristine thread has been muddied. The point of this thread, however, is this pattern with Fitbit Charge 2 device and that the company's ignoring it. But again, Fitbit eventually makes money by selling devices, so this obviously works for them. I'm pretty sure that a device sold even with 25% discount makes less than 1% dent in their profit margins, and so they don't care, as long as they still make the 75% from my pocket.

So, let's get real here.

This Preston thread has messages about credit cards, warranties, pin codes, all day sync, buzzing not stopping until the battery runs dead, stepdaughters, wives, apple watches, BTW Apple expects the watch to die in there years, notifications not working at all, notifications switching off, problems with all day sync, apps not working,( the Charge 2 doesn't have apps), and this is just on the pages of seven.

With a lot simply saying it is happening to me, sorry if we are not sure what 'it" is

Title of this thread is "Charge 2 switching notifications off/on randomly".  When someone says it happened to them too, that's what they are talking about.  Just because we mention warranties, apple watches and other things, it doesn't derail or change the meaning of this thread.  Rich_Laue, you are the only one trying to derail or change what people are reporting.  This will be my last post.  Use your common sense.

The same is happening to my fitbit charge 2.

This has been happening to me as well. Is there a fix for this?

Nope. Buy a new one or a different brand. Apparently they’re meant to last 15 to 18 months. I bought mine at Best Buy the last time. Paid $40 for an extended 2 year warranty.

No ma'am not that I am aware of. It's like it has a mind of its own. When
it goes crazy like that get ready..the battery is going to die as well.
So...for that day you will lose track of your steps. I refuse to get into
the challenges because I can't depend on it now...I am thinking hard on
getting another.

I am another person to whom the "Notification On/Notification Off" endless loop kept happening until the battery wore down.  I took it off, I disabled notifications from the app, I disconnected bluetooth between my phone and my Charge 2.  Kind of like the Energizer Bunny, it endlessly turned notifications on and off when sitting on a shelf.  My Charge 2 is now about 2 years old, and the only other problem I've had with it started a month ago when the display started showing a band of extra luminescence when displaying the time/steps or anything else.  But that I could ignore.  The notification problem meant that it also vibrated about every second, which is annoying.

Right, lol! Now the time is wrong and I'm not sure if I want to invest in
another one.

This is not what people are talking about. It's not that they are hitting the button. The screen is going haywire and automatically switching notifications on and off consistently. I've just had this happen to a friend of mine and we are trying to figure it out as well.

Same thing is happening to mine. I was told it was my iOS. That was the dumbest revolution I got from customer service.
