My charge 3 will not let me increase the brightness to a level I can see.  Very dim display, unable to read.  Any suggestions?

Hi @Kristy72, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. To fix the display issue you're currently experiencing with your Charge 3, I recommend you to follow the next steps to perform a restart process:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker:
    1. Charge 3 —press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Disconnect your tracker from the charging cable.

Let me know if the issue persists.

I am having the same issue. However, when I followed the steps described below, the display is still very dim. This just started about a week ago and my charge 3 was new in June!

Welcome aboard @PiaNettie.

Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps that were shared on my previous post, I'm sorry to know that you're still experiencing difficulties with your Charge 3. Since the restart process didn't fix your display, please try our long restart process following the next steps:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

I'll be here if further assistance is needed.

I've done this 6 or 7 times already, even did online chat but still unable to read display.

This happened after the last update, like all of us have been saying.  Instead of offering a discount on replacing devices that are less than 2 years old, why not fix the update?  I've bought $5 watches from Walmart that lasted longer so have an issue with the only solution being buy another fitbit and hope an update doesn't mess it up

This is very interesting. I recently did an update on my fitbit, and the display is now very dim. As there are people all saying the same thing it seems to be the update that has done it. Have to see if they do anything to resolve or just say to people buy a  new fitbit.

Well I went on the chat and the lady said did I have sleep mode turned on, I said I had no idea as I didn't know where it was. Go on clock face, slide  until the sleep mode comes up. , hold it and it takes the sleep mode off and display goes bright. I said I have no idea how I put it on as i didn't know it was there.....but I now have a bright display. maybe something to try.

WELL, THAT WAS A SIMPLE FIX!! THANK YOU!!
Who knew that Sleep Mode was a thing. You have to fix it on the Fitbit device, not in the app…

I am having the same problem with the extremely dim screen.  I tried the long shut down.  Didn't work.  I looked to see if the sleep mode was on....nope!  Any other ideas?  This is so frustrating!!!

Evidently it’s the fact that inadvertently we are turning SLEEP MODE on in the clock face on the device…. Geez…

The screen is so dim, how can you see anything happening on the clock face?Joannie Kuhlmeyer

On the device’s clock face, there is a sleep mode icon. Hold it down until it’s off and VOILA! Who Knew?
