Will the Charge 3 have the ability to have the screen brightness adjustable? During the night it would be great if the display does not mimic a high intensity flashlight and scald retinas, and during the day it should be bright enough to view in full sun.
According to the product page the screen should automatically adjust.
Smart, Sharp Touchscreen
With a large, touchscreen and backlit display that automatically adjusts to lighting conditions, it’s easier to see stats, notifications or the time in sunlight or at night.
I'm really hoping you will be able to see the display outside. I currently have the Alta HR and you can't see the display in the sunshine at all. If you will be able to do this with the Charge 3, I'll be buying it!
From what I've read this morning, it should automatically adjust to the brightness of the atmosphere.

one cruise ship at a time!I agree. The bright display never bothered me in the least, not once, at night, but I also cannot see my Charge 2 display, at all, outside unless I cover it with my hand and pull it to my face. I keep wondering if there is something wrong with my display because it is so difficult to see anything. It is useless for a walking watch if you wanted to see your steps.
Best AnswerI am also interested in the actual brightness of the display. I have the Charge 2 and the display is NOT nearly bright enough to read outdoors in the sunlight. I had a Versa, and it was bright enough, but I returned it because of the nagging Bluetooth connectivity issues with my approved phone. Fitbit clearly states the brightness in NITS for the Versa, maybe we can get the rating for the upcoming Charge 3??
I gave up on the Alta hr as it was unreadable outdoors. I need assurance that they have fixed this in the Charge 3 before I could consider buying one. Does anyone have any practical experience of using one yet?
Several reviewers on YouTube say it is visible in daylight.
Considering the Charge 3 only went on sale this week, I'm not sure how much real world experience will be found.
Best AnswerSo far the charge 3 is nice!
But question: does screen brightness "auto" work for anyone? Dim is nice in the dark, normal is good in the light, but auto is just always like normal. It never changes to dim.

The pure white text is visible.. however the grey text is NOT visible in daylight... when you go for a walk or a run outside the Distance and Time which are in gray text are nearly impossible to read unless you stop and shade them with your hand... kind of defeats the purpose...
Update: It does change slightly, but I'd like to see Auto go dimmer in near darkness.
But otherwise, I will say the Charge 3 on Normal is nicely visible in sunshine.
Best AnswerI bought tge Charge HR3 and it is MUCH harder to see in daylight than my older FitBit. ☹️ The time is okay, although the displays are stupid (guess their meant to be “cool”) but steps are heart rate are grayed out and very difficult to see.
Just tried a Charge 3 in Sunlight - it's as bad as the Alta unfortunately - unreadable in bright sun.
It has three settings, Auto, Low and Normal so you can only make it dimmer, not brighter. It needs to have a HIGH setting.
