Will the Charge 3 have the ability to have the screen brightness adjustable? During the night it would be great if the display does not mimic a high intensity flashlight and scald retinas, and during the day it should be bright enough to view in full sun.

It's a real shame - it's taken them years to create a properly waterproof fitness tracker - how long before they can create one we can read outside.

So getting mixed messages here...is the time for the Charge 3 visible in the sunlight or is there really nothing that is visible?

The Time is visible yes, the other stats not so much.

It has three settings, Auto, Low and Normal so you can only make it dimmer, not brighter. It needs to have a HIGH setting.
honestly if they change the text from gray to white it will be easily readable at the current brightness setting.

I think you are probably right, if you use the Asymmetrical Clockface, the bright white hours and minutes are readable - but they then swamp the grey heart and steps readings,

I went for a run today and could not read the screen to start the timer. Had to go under a tree and hold my hand over it to get an idea where the start button was. Need to start it inside I guess before the run ... disappointed.

Hold on ... seniors moment! I just read the manual (what ! why on earth would you ever do that? ) and went in and tweaked the setting. Seems the default is "dim" so I set it to auto. (Forgive me for I just got the Charge 3 yesterday.)
Now it's much brighter but I have not tried it outside yet.

As a follow up, after a few days with the Charge 3, the retina seating it's still there. Even on auto brightness. With the analog watch face the dim setting is really bright during the night. I also adjusted the settings to not turn on when brought up to view. As in I need to press the button to get the display to come on. So warn your significant others that they may be awoken by the display.

Nooooo. I'm bringing mine back for the Versa. The screen get bright for a couple seconds and then very dark for outside conditions. And then if course the flashing lights at night. I don't even know what the flashing light is for or means.

Does the automated brightness even work? Regardless of its day or night the device is always at max brightness.

I just bought the Charge 3. I’m probably going to return it because in any sunlight the display I’m probably going to return it because in any sunlight the display is unreadable. Very disappointing. unreadable. Very disappointing.

Yea, it's set to auto. Just doesn't appear to do anything. I'd like the device to go on at night, just not at full brightness. I assumed auto would dim it at night. Not the case.

It doesn't seem that Auto Brightness works. When it turns on during the night, it's so bright it even wakes my spouse.

Can I adjust the brightness on my Charge? The first day it was nice and bright and the second day I cannot see it outside.

It definitely is NOT bright enough. Far from it.
