Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

Instead of staying with the 3 I went down to inspire. I wasn't going to
spend more going up if it was going to crap out again. So far so good. I am
not patient or understanding enough to be frustrated 5 times. I would
recommend switching product lines if you are going to stay with Fitbit.

This horizontal line thing happened to my Charge 2 as well just before it died.  I bought a Charge 3 and it lasted about a year before the same thing happened.  I have reset it multiple times . I'm getting a Charge 4 and a 2 year warranty plan!  I don't get it wet.  It's a hardware issue IMO

Thanks for your email, I took the 2 year insurance out so it’s going back.

I just bought a Versa 2. Fingers crossed. I have 8 years of data with Fitbit or I would have changed to another brand.

It seemed no any corrective action, just reported to fitbit support and ask
for replacement.

Good luck, I too wish Fitbit would step up & replace all Charge 3 units purchased in good faith with a unit that didnt have this critical error!! Inevitably it will go junk !!

This happened to my new Fitbit Charge 3 about 7 months into the 1 year warranty.. no cracks or scratches on the screen but a black line horizontally through my screen.. Nothing fixed it and a month later the entire screen "crashes" and went white.. They determined it to be a fault and replaced it as it was still under warranty.. Now again 7 months into my replacement screen, the exact same is happening, except that it's multiple horizontal lines now, not just one.. So in a month it will probably also crash I guess.. Very unsatisfied with the Charge 3 screen quality.. And I have read multiple reports like these on Charge 3 so it seems to just be a factory fault in this model

It may not be a universal issue, but it is very common. Most disappointing.
Your replacement is probably out of warranty because the warranty usually
carries from the original purchase date, not the replacement date. Check
with CS to make sure. I went down a line to inspire and have had good luck
so far. I refused to spend more on an upsell if the problem was across
lines. I really liked my Charge 3 so I was most disappointed when it
crapped out. Good luck as you work to resolve this.

Hi,

The restart solution did not work for me and actually added a line along the middle of the screen so that I can't read the time (top) or mileage. Any other suggestions?

Yes I do have a suggestion! And trust me when I say this... get rid of it! And get something else! The charge 3 is terrible and has the same issue over and over. I’m on my 5th or 6th one In less than 2 years.
