Charge 3 has white lines across the display

I think there's an actual issue with my fitbit but thought I'd post in here to see if anyone else was experiencing a similar issue.

I bought my charge 3 just under two weeks ago. Last Friday, I noticed my screen looked faded and had white lines running through it. I have tried to reset it three times as generally suggested with no such luck.

I haven't damaged it in any way and I've continued to wear it in the shower as I wasn't concerned due to it being waterproof. The day the faded screen/lines appeared was when the battery was very low - but that's the only thing I can think of and surely a low battery should'nt lead to this?

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated before I have to take it back. I've tried to add a picture to this thread but can't for some reason.

Many Thanks

This did not work for me. Any other suggestions?

Don’t know what didn’t work for me is? Call customer service and ask for a replacement and be nice but don’t take no replacement or 25 percent off on a replacement. They need to stand behind the quality of their products. Not interested in fixing the problem. Good luck!

Thanks for the information!

I have also done all the things being suggested for Fitbits.

This is my second Charge 3 and I am again experiencing the horizontal lines....

Like others, I used a Charge 2 for a year or more without a problem.  Fitbit clearly has an issue with the Charge 3.

I loved my Fitbit, but I will not be replacing it ... I will want to hear what Fitbit/Google are doing to make sure the Charge 4 does not have the same problem.  I really wish I could easily connect the Apple watch to my android phone.

Does this problem look like it might be related to charger? Needs a better connection between the charger and the watch, perhaps?  Should it be a plug?

Good luck Fitbit... I will not be purchasing a new one until this continuing problem is resolved.

Hi JuanJo,

Sorry I am not sure how to use this message board yet, but I was reading about this user's problems with their FitBit Charge 3 and I am experiencing the same problem. I have had my device for just over 4 months now and my screen also has missing lines, and the back light has stopped working, making it difficult to use in day light.

I have tried to restart the device by holding for 8 seconds whilst it is on charger, but that has not corrected the fault.

Please can you assist?

Thank you Kayleigh,

My wife’s charge 3 has also developed the annoying white lines down the screen. I have tried resetting it 4 or 5 times as advised on this forum but it hasn't worked. Any ideas and solutions would be appreciated.

Got to be nice and firm with Customer service and only except a replacement. Not a discount, etc. Good luck!!!

Having the same issue. Have white lines running vertically and horizontally. Tried rebooting it a few times (long and short) and changing the clock face... No luck, it actually made it worse. I called fitbit customer support and they said my charge 3 is no longer under warranty and offered a discount on the same version. Not sure why I would pay 75% for something that malfunctioned. I didn't drop it or bang it against anything. This is my 3rd fitbit tracker and I am debating whether I should stay with their product. All I want is an exact replacement.

I just bought a Versa 2, there was nothing that helped.

Hi,

I have managed to correct the issue on mine. I did the following and it has worked.

On the actual device, go to settings > About > Clear Data User.

I then restarted the device and it has worked for me. I hope that helps.

That didn’t work for me though.

Even though I have been given a replacement device, I still like to follow this thread for when my new Charge 3 goes wrong, as it seems that it is very likely to.  As far as I can tell, the original “solution” of doing a long and/or short restart, and changing the clock face, has not worked for anyone, so I don’t know why it’s still being pushed by Fitbit as a fix.  Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’d be very interested  to hear whether this new fix of clearing data, then rebooting, has worked for anyone else.

My Charge 3 has also developed the lines, very annoying problem indeed and I have already done all the things suggested by Fitbit and nothing helped. Anyone have any other suggestions I could try, given that now all places where I could just take it for check up are closed 🙁

Please be extremely careful with how you go about this issue. I've bought 4 FitBits in the past year (dating to April 2019) and so far 3 of them have stopped working. I replaced one with a more expensive version but between my wife, my daughter and I we now all have Charge 3s with problems. We have had the black screen issue that can sometimes be fixed by resetting or changing the clock face. However mine finally stopped working completely a few months ago and I had to get it replaced. Well guess what, now the replacement has the white lines and won't scroll across the display, and since the warranty on the one I originally purchased has just expired, they won't do a THING!

So if you have this issue and are managing to get it to work please keep in mind that their goal is just to keep it working until your warranty expires, and they can send you a replacement that doesn't work at all or stops working after a few days and tell you you're out of luck!
