Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

Not really but thanks anyway. I’ve sent mine back and had a refund so no problems now. Can’t seem to remove myself from the forum!

Glad you got your refund. The comment was more aimed at Fitbit 😀

I am having this same issue - I have worked with the Fitbit Support chat line every morning and every morning they have me reset it.  Getting old.

fitbit told me they think they found software problem and it is being field
tested now. Same for Charge 2. Stay tuned.

Hopefully this is fixed soon, it has stopped me buying the 3 because of the sleep not working.

I wouldn't let it stop you. I have no doubt there that some have serious issues expressed here. But these are anecdotal.

I've had my 3 for 5 weeks now. It glitched out 1 time on sleep for no apparent reason, a 2nd occurred during an incredibly restless night I had (moving from location to location before dropping off for 2.5 hours). A third time, as I was toying around with the sleep setting. A perfect device? no. But, short of being a medical device, it seems to be a good representation. Sometimes I will need to 'back edit' to better capture the drop into sleep phase.

I had a Mi Band 3 (dead after firmware upgrade and apparently can't be fixed, FitBit aren't the only ones who have issues) that tracked my sleep perfectly, it cost $25, not coughing up $180 for my sleep not to be tracked correctly. Only reason I am looking to upgrade is the FitBit Pay feature of the 3, or it will be back to getting another Mi Band 3. Back to wearing my Charge 2 in the meantime.

So now only tracks if you are sleeping in the bed.  Was having a hard time falling asleep so as not to keep the hubby awake went downstairs the sofa to sleep.  I did fall asleep but fitbit only tracket me sleep when I went back upstairs to the bed at 5am!  Soooo....fitbit thinks I got a grand total of an hour and half of sleep.

Does yours track for the correct date? Mine is always a day ahead . For example it says I slept 7 something hours on March 17th (was supposed to be for the 16th) and I haven’t even gone to bed yet on the 17th....

unless you work late night shift. you slept (mostly) and woke up on the 17th. So while you may refer to 'tonight' (17th), your sleep records going into the day. that's how it works for me anyway.

Respectfully, after owning a charger 2, and "upgrading" to the 3 (so I thought), I was hoping to have the spot on accurate sleep data I enjoyed with my Charger 2. The 2,  was flawless, I "upgraded" because I wanted to be able to go in the water without removing my fitbit.  Sadly, the defective charger 3 is completely inconsistent.  Additionally, it miss categorizes while "auto-tracking" my exercise, unlike the Charger 2.  Just today, my screen went completely black, which drew me back to the Community form.  I've tried the 3 "fixes" recommended by a Fitbit monitor without any success.

Got sleep data  4 nights now, now it  went balistic and recorded 3,5 hours again I know I sleept about 6 hours and my wife think I'm dead since i almost never move around when I sleep...my FB2 had no problem recording sleep, this is really frustrating

Best Answer

are you 'editing sleep time'? I sometimes (this morning) will find the tracker did pick me up sleeping until 130 am. I knew I fell asleep 12 - 1215. so I edited the timer < and there it was. Note: for some reason, I have to hit the edit link 2x for it to take. I'm not saying this is acceptable. But, I just check it out when having my morning coffee, and adjust if necessary.

Best Answer

No i don't edit sleep data I want this little peace of plastic engineering to work as it should 😉

No. If I fall asleep before OR after midnight (Tues night) it records my
sleep as Tues night.

Edit: Yes. Tired of work arounds. Returned FB3 and using FB2 for now even though
it too has a similar problem. Will wait to see if new software release from
FB fixes problem before I ever buy again.

I am disappointed in this forum with its inability to provide new information by FitBit.  I have chosen to remove my subscription to keep my email from filling with the same, and constant, complaint.  I realize this comment will jinx me, but, the C3 has been properly recording and syncing my sleep patterns for the last 10 nights.  This is a record for the C3.  But for now, I am tired of reading the same comments over and over.  I hope FitBit has found the fix (meaning they would have sent it out without informing the community - doubtful).  Good luck to all of you who continue to read the same complaints - over and over and over and over.

Hello @KimM5263 and @paulwilj! Are you saying that your last night sleep is being showed on today's history? If this is the case, this is normal. As an example, yesterday I went to bed around 8 pm and woke up today at 3 am, so my tracker recorded my sleep during 7 hours (4 hours from yesterday and 3 hours from today), once I synced my tracker the sleep was showed up on today's history since I have sleep from today (the 3 hours), which is the correct way to show the sleep data on the dashboard. Is this what you're referring to?

Also for you @paulwilj, if your Charge 3 isn't registering your sleep, I recommend trying the following:

  1. Manually sync the tracker. See instructions in How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  2. Restart the tracker. See instructions in How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Try sleeping with the tracker on your non-dominant hand.
  4. If steps 1-3 don't work, I suggest manually logging your sleep to reflect the time slept. See instructions in How do I change my sleep history?

Thanks for helping out guys @Plap17 and @AveysG

Hello @Grenol! You can still use SmartTrack with your Charge 3. To get more detailed information, see: How do I automatically track activity with my Fitbit device?

On the other hand, if your Charge 3's display is still blank after restarting it, I'd recommend changing the clock face to a different one to see if this brings back the display. Let me know the outcome!

Hi @GlendalePaul! Sorry to hear you go. However, I've seen that you did not reply to the last email from our Support Team, please don't hesitate to get back to them so they can further assist.

Catch you later!
