Charge 3 not tracking sleep

Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

Something Positive to post:  so far, since my last frustrated post, my C3 has been tracking activity and sleep patterns as expected. From March 10 to April 5, there has been the one day it failed to register sleep pattern - the day of my frustrated post.  I hope this does not jinx my pattern.  That one day I logged on the the app, started sync but moved to another app before the sleep pattern registered.  That is the only thing I did different.  Hopefully the problem is resolved for me at least.  Stay tuned.

Well it's about time they make permanent fix then...

Why all this silence from FB, can we get a update on progress of fixing FB3??

Best Answer

did they give you any idea of when we could expect a fix?

Try to find a charger 2.  They're bullet proof

The only times my fitbit Charge3 did not track my sleep was when my strap became partially or totally unhooked from my device. I found this to be especially the case w/ off brand replacement straps; so now I only use my properly locking Fitbit bands and also I don't sleep w/ my arm under pillow, etc. No issues from day one !!!!  Sorry to hear this is not the case for the original forum writer.

ok so not sure if this will help anyone else but i have mine back up and running.

Mine wasnt tracking sleep or tracking the intensity of any excercise. I was about to take it back yesterday for a refund and during the deleting process i noticed something odd.

I unpaired from my phone in the bluetooth options first, and despite my phone (Galaxy S10+) saying it was unpaired it was actually still paired but no longer appearing in the paired options in the bluetooth settings on the phone. I could still change the clock faces despite it supposedly being unpaired.

I then deleted the Charge 3 from the fitbit app and tried to repair. This failed as it wouldnt find the fitbit, so i turned the phone off and back on again and ran the repairing option via the fitbit app and set it up as if new. This seems to have done the trick and sleep and activity are now populated.

Not sure if this will help anyone else but it seems to be pointing toward a software and bluetooth issue

Mine is tracking but displaying incorrectly. It now never seems to pick up sleep prior to 130 am, an hour and 1/2 late. I can go in and reset back to falling asleep and forward to waking. Just don't understand why it doesn't display (even a bit) more correctly to begin with. Here' a before and after reset.

Check my previous post on this.  This is a defect that has been acknowledged by fitbit and is being fixed.

If you amend the sleep start time by three hours you may well get back to your actual sleep start time. or at least see where the point that you were predominantly awake and then asleep

If you are able to decode the JSON file format in the data download you'll see that the sleep phases are recorded. The problem appears to be the app doesn’t display the data correctly.

Its been some time now, when we will see the fix is anybody’s guess. The other sleep problems also  still remain. “sleep not tracked’ message on the Charge 3 and needing to reset regularly to get the thing to sync.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily it is to jinx this C3.  Every time I try to post positive results the C3 fails me.  Second time since being on this thread.  I will report, once again, the C3 is still having intermittent issues

Hi guys, thanks for your participation in the Community.

I am sorry for the delay in respond and appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this sleep issue by yourselves and the attachments.

@Lymmeln, @SunsetRunner and @AppleAnnie57, thanks for the input.

@SunsetRunner, @Plap17@Mollymitten@Grenol@topmom5@GlendalePaul and @SnowBella75, if your Charge isn't registering your sleep, I recommend trying the following:

  1. Manually sync the tracker. See instructions in How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  2. Restart the tracker. See instructions in How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Try sleeping with the tracker on your non-dominant hand.
  4. If steps 1-3 don't work, I suggest manually logging your sleep to reflect the time slept. See instructions in How do I change my sleep history?

If your trackers are registering your sleep but not providing you with sleep stages, take into consideration the steps in the help article Why don't I see sleep stages today?. I also suggest checking if your Fitbit app is updated.

Let me know the outcome. 😁

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge our posts but please take the time to read them and post a response that is helpful. We've all been through the list of paliative fixes many times.

Yes, my app is up to date, that's what I said. What we do need is the confirmation of the fixes that went into release 2.91 as the link to the release notes does not work. Please just get a copy and post the information here. It would be a lot more helpful contribution to the discussion.

I came here with the same issues but am deeply disappointed that the moderator's answer is: If restarting our device doesn't just fix the issue, input your sleep manually. Sleep tracking is a major feature that I desire in a fitness tracker.

If the pedometer wasn't working, would the answer be: Well, just input the steps manually ???

There's a reason this device costs money. We're purchasing features. These features need to work.

I've said this before, but there is definately something wrong in the Fitbit camp. As simple request to a moderator for the release notes for the latest update has gone unanswered. Those notes could well clarify a number of issues, particullarly "have they fixed the sleep problem or not".

It is not as if they need to go and get approval to do or say anything (or do they?) these notes are allegedly published but we (I) can't get to them.
