Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

I got the Charge 3 after my amazing Charge 2 had a broken screen. The sleep tracker is most disappointing on the Charge 3. It often doesn’t track sleep or naps. I have to reboot it every 2-3 days. Sleep tracking is my favourite function of Fitbit, so the fact that the Charge 3 works so poorly is disappointing. It angers me. My Charge 2 tracked my sleep perfectly, every time, even 55 minute naps. The 3 will sometimes track 8 hours of sleep without stages and it will have all the the times it cycles as you being awake in a light blue, and will say you only slept 3 1/2 hours. No rhyme or reason for why it sometimes tracks and sometimes doesn’t.
Fitbit, if this model wasn’t ready with the bugs worked out why would it get put on the market? You’ve lost all my trust as a consumer.

The Support Team requested data on the next failure. I have not had a failure in two weeks - knock on wood. The sleep stages have been appearing since, uninterrupted, since 3/11/19.

I find that more often than not i have to do a reset on the sleep time. it will have me in a light or deep sleep beginning at 1:05 am. When I move the time back to 12:05, it captures the whole night. I don't mind, and don't have earlier versions or products to compare.

well, no sooner had I spoken and was feeling home free - I just woke to the 'summary without stages' screen. First time that's happened in a while. Don't know why! Wish there was someway to capture it. What the heck does this mean.

DAMMIT - I knew I should not have said anything!! **ahem** thing failed to build sleep stages last night! I am fed up with this inconsistency

I cannot - won't even try to explain GlendalePaul. But in frustration I deleted (with warning that data would be lost). when clear, for the hell of it I went back to enter and it read it (more or less) correctly. go figure. try it. you have nothing to lose but a night of sleep tracking.

Granted, my frustration boiled over, but it confirmed to me they still have not fixed the issue. I had my hopes, I guess I should be thankful it worked for fourteen days. In the grand scheme of life, I have come to rely on this C3 for monitoring my health too much. I need to remember it is just a play toy and not a health monitoring tool. Next purchase will be a tool that works consistently.

Not reliable, got Sleep data 5 days of 7 .. hope we se an update from Fitbit soon...but in the track record for Fitbit they never comment... so a other brand like Polar might be a solution if no update in near future will show up...

At least you were getting something...mine's been 'bricked' for over a month...
first it wouldn't track sleep ... then it didn't track anything, and the refused to synch - or reset - or hard reboot - (uninstall - reinstall) or even be recognized when plugged in to a PC. I spent 3 days doing all kinds of troubleshooting with support, escalated support, went through 3 levels i think - all to no avail . I was basically told FitBit knew they had a problem, and were working on it. I put my nearly new rose gold FitBit in a drawer where it's now gathering dust - since it's not synching it won't even keep time correctly.
I've been lurking here - hoping to see a solution pop up on the forum since I've not gotten any further email contacts from support - so far it doesn't look good.
I see where some have returned their devices for refund - I'm glad for them - apparently that was not an option for me.
Here's hoping they get a viable solution - I've pretty much lost faith in FitBit over this debacle...it appears their products perform as well as their stock shares....

same issue now presenting itself on mine over the last week for no reason. This looks supiciously like a software issue as so many people are suffering the same fault. To be honest im not at all impressed with Fitbits, they are woefully inaccurate and now obviously the software is buggy.
According to Fitbit charge 3 a 2.5km walk and an 8km eliptical training session barely scraps 10,000 steps. You are better off buying the cheap £20 options on Amazon

I'm having similar issues. My charge 3 tracked my sleep for about a month, and then suddenly a few days ago, it stopped. I found on this board about restoring the watch, uncoupling the app and adding it back again, changing the sensitivity of the sleep back and fwd, moving the watch up and down the wrist...still not working. I got the watch for this sole purpose, as I live alone and no one can help me to monitor my sleep. I've been suffering of chronic insomnia and saved up for this watch, I gotta say, it's highly annoying. How can I make this work?

Have you tried a long reset?
Here are the steps according to FB
CHARGE 3 LONG RESTART
Plug the device into the charging cable. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, hold the button down for 15 seconds. Remove your finger from button. Note: Device won't have a smiley face icon and should be off with a black screen. Remove the device from the charging cable. Plug the device into the charging cable again. The smiley face icon appears on the screen.
God luck
ps. my just started to work after several attempts, I gave up and suddenly one morning it worked and now it have displayed sleep data för seven days x-my fingers

Thanks for the long restart tip Lymmeln. If had been mentioned here, I missed it.
I've been all over the place on this one. Most recently, over a week, of sleep time starting at 130 am, regardless of when I went/fell asleep (usually between 1130 pm and 1215 am). Manual adjustments have corrected most. But just doesn't seem right. I just did your recommendation. We'll see what happens tonight!

I am having the same issue. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the app on my Samsung S7, changed my sleep settings from normal to sensitive, moved my watch, even turned it when I went to bed from the traditional way of wearing it to where the watch was on the inside of my wrist.
It is most annoying.

i tried the reset option and its still not working, i have now also noticed when viewing the dashboard on here that i am now no longer seeing a graph of the intensity of my steps and workouts. Basically all graphs be they activity or sleep are now just blank. Im sick of this and am returning my Charge 3 for a refund. Absolutely crap product will be moving over to the Galaxy active

Same here. Long reset - no change. Went to bed before midnight and for sure fell asleep @ 1150. Tracker picked up mid-cycle beginning at 1:26 am! Also did not show thru wake-up.
Sooo . . . again I went in and, approximating my sleep and awake times did a manual reset. Now, it's all there. There is obviously tracking that's going on, but simply not being displayed.
It just gets frustrating. I only expect 2 things from C3, activities/calories and sleep tracking.
Has anybody returned for another, with any better luck?

I was told by customer service, issues with, sleep tracking, miss categorizing fitness activity, are things a replacement C3 will not correct, and therefore they will not allow you to return it for those reasons. I tried and that's the response I received.
