Bought my Fitbit Charge 3 on Saturday. Tracked my sleep first night, hasn’t since for last 3 nights. Have to keep putting it on charger and restarting. Few hours later it appears on watch and phone. Can’t keep doing this! Any ideas?

Hello @Plap17, @MuzzyW, @jdonnelly02, @Lemeh, @Superbonbon28, @SunsetRunner, @Lymmeln, @SunsetRunner, @ashley.shehan, @Grenol, and @GlendalePaul!Sleep stages are based on heart rate data, so make sure that you're getting a solid heart rate reading , since sleep stages requires consistent HR. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight. Also, double check that your watch is charged up.
Additionally, I'd recommend checking the following that could be preventing you from receiving sleep stages:
- If you used the "Begin Sleep Now" option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed).
- If you slept for less than 3 hours.
For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern.
If your Charge 3 is still not registering your sleep after reviewing the information above, I recommend trying the following:
- Manually sync the tracker. See instructions in How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
- Restart the tracker. See instructions in How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Try sleeping with the tracker on your non-dominant hand.
- If steps 1-3 don't work, I suggest manually logging your sleep to reflect the time slept. See instructions in How do I change my sleep history?
Hello @BeigeSage! Sorry to hear you go. Please don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything else I may do to assist you with.
Hey there @topmom5! Thanks so much for sharing the steps that worked for you.
Thank you for the thorough feedback for the Fitbit environment, customer service and devices. This has not gone unnoticed and be sure that I will pass this along.
Fitbit has been designed to provide motivation and help you to reach your daily goals to success. Please know that we provide feedback to our team based on community posts and we are always working on improving our devices and overall environment based on that feedback.
I'll be around if there's any questions present.
This is completely useless.
You know these work arounds don't work.
And I'm not manually tracking my sleep when I can do that for free with a pen and paper and I woudn't have wasted any money

I’m now having this same problem with my Alta HR—Worked fine until this “update”—which is why??

I decided to buy the charge 3 after some research and mainly wanted to monitor my sleep. I have sleep aphena and a Cpap machine and want to com[are my sleep patterns with out and with the Cpap. I have had my charge 3 for just over a month and that is a month of frustration. Some nignt I so not record sleep at all and other night recorded sleep starts at 3 or 4 AM although I went to bed and light our at 11.30 PM.
When I get up in the morning and want to check my sleep it can take 15 minutes to sync and that is after numerous restarts on both my computer and Charge 3.
telling us that they are working on a fix and to be patient is BS. If unit does not perform as promised then refund my money to get one that works pronto.

For what it's worth: I do find that giving a good 10 - 15 min. results in a more accurate reading. I (like you) would be syncing the within minutes (3 - 5) of waking and pouring my coffee. For some reason, the delay gives me better results. Also, an edit of sleep time helps - but not if the initial data started past midnight. I haven't figured out how to edit past midnight, as I can't reset to the day before.
Finally, just delete and re-sync. I took the 'chance' once thinking I'd lose all. But the delete/re-sync ended up giving me a much more accurate read.
(can't believe I'm writing this - now I sound like a useless moderator!). Just trying to help.

I am having the same problem. Wasted a LOT of time on chat. It resolved itself spontaneously hours later. This problem recently popped up and I wasn't gien a reasonable explanation as to why this is occurring. I a very frustrated, as I have difficulty sleeping and really want to log in how much sleep I actually get.

If that’s your main goal .. return it ... it won’t do it consistently

So we buy a device that coast 120 pounds to log manually? this is not an acceptable solution.

I don't know what has changed, but both my husband (Inspire HR) and I (Charge 3) have been getting sleep data nightly for the last 3 weeks, providing that we are asleep for more than 3 hours for the detailed data.

I’ve had to log mine manually today. I think my tracker slipped down on my wrist during the night so the tracker wasn’t sitting on wrist fully.

I went through the steps and my watch specifically said that it did not track my sleep. I tried to sync and it just kept not letting me sync. This is a brand-new problem because I've had this watch for months.

This is a brand-new problem because I've had this watch for months. I purchased it to track my sleep because not all trackers track sleep. So I went through the steps and my tracker specifically said that it did not track my sleep. I tried to sync and it just kept not letting me sync. I switched wifi connections, although this works with Bluetooth so I don't know why I went through that step.

Did it sync the day before? My charge 3 did not sync this morning.
