Charge 4 won't track my sleep stages

My charge 4 doesn’t track my sleep pattern properly.  I have tried wearing it tighter or looser and on different wrists but it just gives a generic score with No stats.  Occasionally I’ll get a proper sleep pattern to review

Hi there, @Debbiestevens @Ioanat. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 4 devices before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

Hope this helps.

Hi. I have the same problem since 03.02. I tried rebooting the phone, the Fitbit and reinstalling the app. Nothing worked.

I have had this problem for over a week now.  I have contacted support at least four times and they keep giving me the same standard answers that you're giving, MarreFitbit.  None of them work!  I've had a Fitbit for over 5 years, so I know how to wear my Fitbit.  I've rebooted it several times, I've disconnected, reconnected to the app.  I've tried everything and I'm super frustrated.  I pay for Fitbit Premium which makes me even angrier.

Support has not helped me in any way.  I'm ready to throw this Fitbit in the garbage and switch to Apple Watch.

Good Afternoon, from The U.K.

I hope you don't mind if I ask you a question that I cannot find the answer too on the net it 'Fitbit' 4 manual.

If my 'FB' 4 sleep wake is ON. My Sleep is dimmed and a line across it. Presumably OFF.

will My 'FB' still record my sleep? As both cannot be on at the same time.

I purchased the 4 for two reasons, SLEEP and STEPS.
I am a terrible insomniac, getting 20 minutes too 90 mins a night. It's terrible.

I can take pills that will give me more than 6 hours, but don't like the huge dosage prescribed.

I am due to see University College London ( Sleep Clinic) within 6 months and would like to take a record of my sleep patterns.

I have tried many many of these 'Wearables' for 5 + years.

I purchased the 'FB' 5 but I don't need all the amazing functions, I did need the weather and that was the deciding factor.

Same here, randomly it gave a score 1 night. I have also tried everything suggested but only getting the back sleep data. Not what I thought I had bought!

Having the same problem for the past 3 nights.  None of the solutions have been helpful. Have used Fitbit for years without issue and I hope

there is some resolution soon.  Sleep tracking is an essential feature for me.

100% agree, I bought this device to track my sleep accurately....it doesn't.

It also registered that I walk up 19 flights of stairs....I didn't.

I detest this phone and Argos will not take it back. £90 down the drain.

I am also an insomniac, dreadful condition.

I also bought fitbit 4 to track my sleep.it was totally frustrating, apparently my sleep was 'normal'.

Im fed up with the bog standard responses from FITBIT. The bottom line is that the tracker is useless for me but Argos will not accept return. I've had it just over a week.

Complete waste of £90.

Contact customer services through your app. Have you proof of purchase available to send to them and they will email you a return label to get it replaced.

I have had the sleep tracker record the time I go to sleep incorrectly twice in the past week. I have followed all the instructions and a help desk person had no idea. Said for me to reset the Fitbit. I realized I don't know how. I don't think I have turned it off. I'm going to try to learn that. But it recorded that I sent to bed 4 hours after I did, second time in 7 days. I'm doing the same things I've done for years. I'm going to get the reset done and see if that helps. I had slept a lot and wanted it recorded!

I’m having the same problem for the past week I’m not getting the detailed sleep tracker. I’m a long time Fitbit user and know I am wearing the device properly. Is there a resolution to this issue?

This is not a satisfactory response or resolution. Obviously the majority of people having this issue have already gone through these steps and are well aware how to wear the Fitbit. I’ve had my device for a couple years and for the past week I am no longer getting the detailed sleep tracker. What is the correct resolution to get this working again? I’ve tried all troubleshooting recommendations and still have the issue.
