Charge HR Suddenly Stopped Working

Hi There. My fitbit charge HR is onle 7 months old and it (for some reason) has stopped working.

I charged it last night, put it on this morning fully charged, checked the time at 830 ish and the time was off by about 25 mins. I synced to my android phone app and the time corrected itself on the fitbit. Not even a half hour later i tried again to check the time - it only had the fitbit logo and the version number (122) then went blank again. As of noon or so today I can even get the fitbit to turn on or show anything on the screen. The heartbeat monitor light isnt even on and now I cant connect to it via bluetooth or via the cord.

Please advise how to correct this asap

Hey hey hey @AmandaR1987 welcome to the Forums! This sounds a little weird. But don't worry, I believe that this could be fixed by restarting your tracker, so please just follow the instructions on this post. If after that the display is working, leave your Fitbit charging for around 2 hours until is fully charged.

Let me know the outcome. I'll be around. Robot wink

I'm having similar issues with my Charge HR. It just stopped working this Saturday and I have gone through the reset procedure mutliple times to no avail. I'm not sure what else to do. I put it on the charger over night in hopes that that would help but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Seems like people are getting really lucky with getting theirs to work after this happens.

I purchased my fitbit from my T-Mobile store. If nothing is working for me would I just take it back there?

I'm having a similar problem as above. (Which is the same/simlar problem I had when I first received my HR for my birthday in March. My HR simply quits working in the middle of the day. Last night it stopped in the middle of the night; recording only 4+ hours of sleep. I rebooted it when I first got up this morning...and now it has stopped working AGAIN, about a 1/2 hour ago. Very, VERY FRUSTRATING! So what needs to happen to keep it going? ...And do I always have to keep my charge cord with me? (THAT would be a drag.) I want this product to be a little more dependable than it's showing itself to be.

My Charge HR suddenly has stopped registering anything but the time.  Several times I tried the reboot (holding the button until the version displayed and it took longer than the advertised time) after a complete charge.

I'm really frustrated.  Having paid a not insignificant amount for this product, I expect it to function reliably.  I've had this for less than two months...

I have had my Charge HR for less than 24 hours and I cant set it up or anything.I charged it right away and then tried setting it up and the only thing I can see is the logo and the version 122. Really disappointed right now. I ordered it off Amazon for myself for my birthday.

Hi @Baylee13 welcome to the Community! Cat Happy The 122 that you are looking on the display is the firmware version of the tracker, however it seems pretty weird that it is the only thing you can see, so let me suggest you something, please try to restart your Charge HR by following the instructions on this post and then try to set up your tracker again.

Let me know if that works!

My Fitbit Charge HR stopped working. I let it charge overnight. Now it doesn't read anything; steps, heart rate... nothing!  I called Customer Service only to be told since it is 15 months old, it's out of warranty (I've had problems for the past 6 months) and there's nothing they can do about it, but give me a 25% discount on a new one.  I will never own another Fitbit.

Very sad. I really wanted it to work.  Will be sharing this with my trainer and everyone I talk with.

FITBIT HR just stopped working a couple of days ago.  Charged overnight, no display.  My unit is only about 10 months old.  Well taken care of, not abused.  Have contacted support.  Hopefully they will be able to offer some options.

I see this is not an uncommon trait for other FITBIT HR users.

Hey, @pammis@kein!! Welcome to the Forums! @pammis, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. You should not charge your tracker for more than 2 hours since that is all it needs to get a full charge. This can cause the battery to overheat and get damaged. You can read all about our warranty policies, here

Hey, @kein! Just a question. Have you tried to restart it to get the display fixed? What did Support say?

Keep me posted!Robot Happy

Thank you for your response!

I'm glad I didn't read this last night, because I left my Charge HR plugged in all night, got up this morning and tapped on the display and it sprung to life.  Go figure. Nothing else worked.

Electronics are supposed to have a designed method of responding, not by chance.  This leads me to believe there are many things about the Charge HR (based on what others have shared) that aren't understood and perhaps are not well designed.

In any case, I'm glad it's working and I hope it isn't just a short spurt before it dies again.

I tried to restart - still does not work

It seems that charging protocols were not well advertised included length
of time to charge and where to charge

In another post, I saw that there seems to be a design flaw in the charging
protocol by not having a delimiting charge circuit to prevent overcharging.

If this is a battery issue, is the battery a user installable part?
If not, where can I take my fitbit HR to get a new battery?

Oh! Really? @pammis That is awesome! I'm glad to hear that your tracker is working as it should now. thanks for the updates! Man Wink

@kein, thanks for trying the restart. Unfortunately there is no option to just change the battery. Did our Support team get back to you already?

I'm having a similar problem. I've had my Fitbit charge HR for about six months. It was work thing great last night. When I woke up this morning, it just stopped working. And I know the battery was charged at least half. I've tried following the instructions to reset my Fitbit numerous times, but nothing happens except the light from the sensor will blink pence then it's back to nothing. Help please!

Scratch that, now nothing's happening, not even the green light.

Folks...I was in touch with the FitBit folks & they sent me a new device. (I had only had mine about a month.) Once I figured out how to "disconnect" my old one & "connect" my new device, I've not had a single problem with my FitBit Charge HR. (I DO wish they'd include some sort of instructions. THAT was rather frustrating!) ...But, all is well now.

I have learned that certain precautions need to be taken

1. Do not charge your fitbit more than 2 hours
2. Do not charge your fitbit overnight
3. DO charge ONLY off your computer - there evidently NO voltage
delimiting circuit to prevent overcharge.
4. If you do not have a computer, make sure your wall charger does not
output more than 1V output (I think)

I just got a replacement fitbit today.
It is interesting that on the FITBIT packaging, none of these warnings are
clearly printed. In fact there are no written instructions.
Directions are online only. I think I did read these warnings somewhere.

I believe there is a lack of communication concerning these issues AND
circuitry issues that can overcharging of the unit.
Saying all of this, I have other small electronic tools (bluetooth
headphones). Same instructions should be followed for these components as
well.

Hope this helps.
