Display not turning on

Charge 3 is recording all activities but the screen is black & I cannot see the clock face. I have tried changing the clock face with no results. I am syncing to a Android LG phone which is recording all activities. In the past few weeks the display has become fainter until now it is black.

Thanks for troubleshooting your Charge 3 with the steps that were shared on my previous post, seems odd that even after restarting your device you're still experiencing this display issue. That said, I'd like to recommend you to try a long restart process following the next steps:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hi @Drose51, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for troubleshooting your Charge 3 prior to posting too. If you haven't already done so, please try the following steps to restart your device and let me know how it goes:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker:
    • For Charge 3—press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for your response. My Charge 3 is fully charged but I connected it again to the charger. I get a vibration but nothing on the screen. After pressing & holding the button for 8 seconds, I get a vibration at the start but no "smile". Screen is black.
I have been wearing it periodically today and it is recording my steps and also my heart rate shows up when I look on my phone, I'm just not able to see anything on the watch face.
Hope you have some other suggestions.

Cheers, Donna

Hi again:
I followed your instructions and now have a very faint display which I can't really read. I am sitting in the dark, and when I turn the light on I can't see the display at all.
I never did get the 7 short vibrations at the end. When I plug it back in the battery icon is still very very faint.
Hope you have something else for me.

Cheers, Donna

I am having this same issue. My Charge3 stopped working in the middle of the day. It’s fully charged and is syncing and tracking my steps, but the display won’t work. The hard restart won’t work. I tried a dozen times. Please help!

Hello,

I have had the same issue for the last almost 2 months. I also tried all the recommended resets. Is there anything else to be done?

I also have reported th e issue  of my black screen before but didn't get any support reply.  Like others on this forum, both your  suggestions to restart have failed, so it would  appear that this is a common problem but having paid a lot of money for our fitbit so many of us, can't even tell the time  with it. As so many people have this issue, is it being addressed?. The fitbit transmits but the screen is gone. Does anyone at fitbit have a clue how to fix this? Many thanks Christine

How do you hold the button down while it is plugged in to the charger?  The charger covers up the button!
