Display not working on Charge 2

The display on my Charge 2 stopped working. I get nothing. It still syncs to my phone, but no display and no notifications. I have restarted multiple times, but no change. Anyone else experience this?

Just past a year, and just after a firmware update from Fitbit, the bottom 2/3 of the screen faded away to nearly invisible.  I contacted Fitbit by email.  They responded two days later saying “sorry” and gave instructions to restart, etc.  I had included in my email that I had gone to the community forum and had tried the restarting 3 times methods to no avail.  They obviously didn’t read my whole email.   This appears to be a consistent problem with Fitbit charge 2 and charge 3 as well (all over the Internet).  I, my husband, and two friends all have had to replace multiple fitbits just out of warranty.  First the strap breaks and Fitbit sends a new one (within warranty) then the device stops working in some way.  I have had 4 fitbits.  I like the product when it works.  But as many here say, they don’t last at all.  Too bad.

My display not coming up since last 3 days   what is the meaning of restart- when I press the side button ( when it is on the charger - connected to power) after a few seconds - there is a small vibration ..does that signify restart? If yes - I have done it 10 times. No use at all please help. The Fitbit is getting fully charged ( as I can see in the mobile app) and syncing perfect ; counting steps and stairs all fine. ; Only issue is no display.

Yes. That’s a restart. You are doing what’s instructed. If there is no display, or the display has faded, and your Fitbit is out of warranty, you will have to buy something else. Since I have had to replace multiple fit bits over the years, usually after the warranty is just over, I won’t be buying Fitbit again. I’ll try something else. In the meantime, my husband gave me his to wear and I changed the band. He told me “I never liked it. It’s useless”. Haha.

There are various other trackers on the market. For accurate heart rate though, during exercise, you’d need something like a polar h10. Those work. But as a tracker, the Fitbit is fine, except it never lasts long. Also, everyone I ever gave a Fitbit to said it broke at the one year mark, or the screen faded away. Too bad.

Good luck with Fitbit customer service. If you are in warranty they may send you a replacement.

Report to Fitbit on Facebook. They will require some details by email. They replaced mine

Mine was two months out of warranty. They refused to replace it. They also said that because I was working abroad, they could not issue a discount certificate but would have the “local Fitbit team” where I am contact me. They never did. Oh well.

This is the 3rd Fitbit I have owned that died just after warranty was over.

Get a new Fitbit. Or a different brand. If it’s less than a year they will give you a new one. If not, maybe they would give a discount.

I eventually posted a message to Fitbit on Facebook. They sent me an email that I had to answer some questions. I eventually had a replacement Charge 2

I just wanted to say thank you to AlvaroFitBit.  I tried your suggestion and my display is working again.  My Fitbit Charger 2 isn't even a year old.  I went to bed with the display working and it had stopped showing anything by morning.  Now it's working again.

My charge 2 display wont come on... it is less then 2 years old... I tried the reset stuff as mentioned in this board... but of no avail. On contacting fitbit they say I am out of warranty and it cannot be fixed...

Not sure if I will spend my money on a tracker

The display has stopped working on my Charge 2 too!  It had a fine crack in the screen for a long time - but it has always worked well, and the crack was so fine it was not noticeable when it was displaying.

Then all of a sudden half the screen disappeared so I recharged it.  After normal duration of charging I tried the screen and there was absolutely no display at all!  It is still working though as I get reminders to charge it even though I have stopped wearing it.

My Charge 2 display disappeared after setting watch on top of cable box for less than a minute. Has anyone else had issues with em radiation from other devices or heat? The box would be a little cooler than a 40W light bulb.

My Charge 2 display lost half the display suddenly for no apparent reason, though there had been a fine crack on the face for a long time. Then after having just half the display it disappeared to nothing after charging it up. I actually thought it had completely expired but then got further notifications that it needed recharging, even though I had stopped wearing it!

I am now looking at getting a new one, waterproof would be best so I can swim & shower in it without having to remove it! Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks Bretta

I just ordered a Samsung fit tracker. I’ll see how that goes. Won’t buy Fitbit again. To many failed trackers with this company. (I’ve had several and all broke, mostly just after the warranty expired). Not sure which tracker is good if any but I’ll keep trying. For tracking exercise I use a polar H10 strap which is extremely accurate. But for steps, and general tracking I would like to find a tracker I can rely on. Good luck.
