My display stopped working?

That's not good, @Jmik. Plug your Charge 2 in then follow the directions here to restart the device. Do it 2 or3 times.  This should do the trick. If it doesn't, please let us know.

It does nothing. Completely dead.
Any ideas???

Sorry, @Jmik. All I can suggest at this point is for you to contact Support.

Best Answer

@Jmik I hope you're doing well! Have you check if the tracker is actually charging? Do you feel a vibration when you plug the tracker to the charging cable? Is your tracker still syncing to your phone/computer even if the display isn't working. If it is a charging issue then please clean the contacts with a toothpick or toothbrush and then use cotton with rubbing alcohol. After this plug the tracker to your computer, make sure the computer is on (not on sleep or hibernation mode). You can also try using your phone's usb wall adapter. If your tracker starts charging then try the restart suggested by @SunsetRunner or if this isn't resolve feel free to contact our Support team.

Mine has done this too. I've only had it a little over a year. I contacted support and the only thing they can offer is a 25% discount to purchase a new device. I understand that it's out of warranty but still...this seems to be a very common problem. I don't think I will be purchasing another device.

@sandy731 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! I am really sorry to hear that your tracker isn't working anymore. Did you try the suggestion in my previous post? Or the restart suggested by @SunsetRunner? My own tracker has been working for a year and a half without issues. The only thing that I could honestly tell you is that the wristband is failing but it is the original one that came with the tracker so after 18 months I really can't complain. Still sorry that this was your experience. Hopefully you can take advantage of the discount but if you don't I do hope you keep your active lifestyle so you can stay healthy.

I just got my new charge 2 and When I pluged in the charger connected to my computer, charge 2 did not vibrate but i can seen some graphics on my screen. I successfully paired it with my phone, and on my phone it showed that I can synchronize with charge 2 and the battery was full in green color. However, after I paired up charge 2 with my phone, my fitbit’s screen was black the whole time, I couldn’t see the green beam lights on my fitbit as well, it looks like the fitbit was dead. Do you know if there is anything I can do to fix this?

Best Answer

@AlvaroFitbit please help. My Fitbit Charge 2 started this today and I have tried many attempts to restart it and none of brought the screen back to life.

@Hannnnnah @OhCrapItsChase Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well!

@Hannnnnah in your case I would try a restart on your Charge 2 by doing the following:

Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
Your tracker should start charging.
Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.

@OhCrapItsChase since you already restarted your Charge and it didn't work the best thing to do is letting our Support team know about the issue. I noticed that you already have a ticket with them so I wanted to know if they were able to help you?

Keep me posted!

I am so frustrated that there was not a simple solution to this problem. My charge 2 has stopped displaying information 15 months after I bought it. The customer service person told me "Plan B" was my only option, offering 25% Discount... THEN after I said no and all I want is for my Fitbit to work, He starts telling me "we all want something for free." He wasn't hearing my pain nor frustration of just losing the one item I've worn everyday for the past 15 months. He gave me another "Free" comment and I asked him to stop because it was rude and offensive. The 25% off was insulting and he showed no empathy for the loss of a product I loved... up until that phone call. Fitbit, you just lost a happy customer and an active promoter of your product.

@ssmcdonald Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! I am sorry to hear about your damaged Charge 2 and your experience with Support. I will pass this feedback as this shouldn't happen with our Support team and thank you for letting us know as this does help us improve and see how the team can be instructed and trained. Regarding your Charge 2 if it is outside the warranty period Support won't be able to replace it and it is up to you if you use the discount or not. Hopefully you will remain within the Fitbit Family.

My display stopped working as well. It vibrates and the lights work on the back of the FitBit, syncs, counts steps, etc. .. but no display.

I just joined the dead display club. 16 month old charge 2 display stopped working, it will sync but it is useless as any kind of device. I too got the "25%" discount coupon from support on any device I want except the one I am interested in. Plus I can walk into Best Buy right now and get the charge 2 for 25% no coupon, no waiting so the discount isn't really a discount. It appears these trackers are designed to fail after 15- 16 months and now I will plan accordingly. Not totally soured on Fitbit but not really thrilled either

My Fitbit is dead too.

Same symptoms.

No display,

the vibration, lights at the back worked.

I unpaired the device to add it back as a new device. It gets connected but I don't see 4 digit number, so can't pair it.

I think some recent softt upgrade broke the display.

I am hoping it's not intentionally broken to force users purchase new device.

I'm switching to the Android smart watch. Same price, better features, better customer service.

My display also stopped working. Tried the reset multiple times with no luck.  Got the Fit Bit Charge 2 last Christmas, so I have only been wearing it for 10 months, but I was told since it was purchased longer than 12 months ago they cannot do anything for me, except the 25% discount(which I am sure they are still making a profit on).
