Fitbit Charge 2 Band issues

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 2 was purchased a little less than 10 months ago, but I had band issues where top band doesn't stay clicked in starting after 3 or 4 months of my purchase. During that time, I replaced my band with a new one, but the same issue occurred only after a few weeks of having it replaced. No matter how hard I pressed, it didn't click in. I'd have my fitbit falling off randomly, and I thankfully had honest strangers who tapped me on the shoulder to hand it back to me, but I'm scared that I will lose my fitbit very soon. The fitbit came off my wrist while boarding the train once, and if it didn't land inside of the vehicle, I would have lost my fitbit that day. I'm afraid this might happen to me again because I ride the train often. I tried tightening the screw like other posts suggest, but it didn't quite work. What did work for me was when I lifted up the metal prong a bit, but I feel as if though this is only a temporary fix, and I still do not feel safe. The top band still feels a bit lose with a bit of wiggle, and it isn't as secure as the bottom band. My warranty is about to be up soon, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get my fitbit replaced. I really hope that it is possible because I don't think a product as popular as this should break this easily.

I got my bands on Groupon. Choice of coloured rubber or metal. I bought a mix of them. The cost £4.99 plus £1.99 postage for each band - no reduction for buying more than 1 - but at under £7 per band I felt it was good value and they have been fine.

Hello guys! I hope you are doin' great! On one hand, I'm sorry to hear about the inconveniences you have had with your wristbands, however, please note that we really care about each of our user's feedback and comments, since they are very important to us. As you may know, we are always working in order to improve our products and services, so this helps us out to know exactly in which of them we need to work on in the future.

On the other hand, I want to thank all of you that have been sharing your feedback about different wristband brands, just keep in mind that they won't be covered by our warranty policies.

Also, I urge you to take a look at the different types of wristband that we have available for Charge 2. So, you can always go ahead and visit our online store. 😉

Have a great day folks!

OK, now I need to rant.

We know third party replacement bands aren't covered by Fitbit but that's just it. The third party bands are better than Fitbit bands and don't need to be replaced. I take that back. I had to replace my third party band. For a smaller one when I lost all my weight. The first one lasted beautifully for over a year and was in perfect condition when I switched to the smaller band. Now if Fitbit made a magnetic metal band like this we wouldn't have to go to an outside third party. But Fitbit doesn't listen to anything the consumer requests, better bands, removing unearned badges, being able to make a note on the phone app, etc.

I have to agree dubhbas. Fitbit has been absent since last October, in this thread (much longer in others), and is completely aware of this problem for a very long time now. While I will agree they have been responsive when contacted about this problem, they have done nothing to correct the issue. With each iteration of product, this band problem persists.

Seems quite hypocritical to jump into the conversation when a perceived issue may present itself in warranty. Not a single person mentioned any expectation of warranty should a third party band misfunction, yet this representative feels compelled to disavow any aid and feels it necessary to solicit sales for new bands, that will likely fail also.

i too have another band failing, after just a few months. Unlike you folks that wish to remain loyal to a company that only wants your money, I have decided to move on.

if others should do the same, perhaps Fitbit will get the message and create that perfect product they tout. Perhaps.

I am on tracker #5 in 3 years (all HR Charge), which is now dead after 8 months.   I have received another 50% offer to replace #5 with #6, a Charge 2.  I had hoped that the issue of bands coming apart would be different with Charge 2.  Sounds like same issue...

Thanks for response. I love the capabilities of the charge 2 but am thoroughly frustrated with short Band life. I actually bought a new band off of eBay so when it breaks again I am not interrupted while waiting for my replacement. A shame about the stock price. Not a good sign. Why is durability such a problem. I have been a Fitbit user for over 5 years. That is plenty of time for successful product development and improvement!

Based on 8 relatives, many coworkers and the many Fitbit users I meet, I've only meet 2 that said they had disapointment with their Fitbit .Very fwwfseem to have band problems but I've noticed that it seems to be the same people that the bands continually break. Not sure why thousands have no problems and a hundred or so people break them every three months .

After more than two years my aunts band does not stay on, a quick ajustment fixed it.

> I too am very happy with my Fitbit and have recommended it to others and 4 of my friends have purchased them as a result. I have only had one band break but it does appear to be a weakness as many other people have had the same problem with the Charge 2 band - it is not a one-off. I do wear mine all the time, except when in the shower, as I like to check my sleep pattern as well as daily activity. I also exercise very regularly so it is used a lot. Perhaps it is the Charge 2 Fitbit wearers who use them a lot who have the problem. I have to say that mine was replaced very quickly so customer service is good but it fell off my wrist whilst out and had there not been a person walking behind who spotted it I would have lost it. I would not had been able to have it replaced then.

My Charge 2 band has had two issues, both with popping off at the top connection  Warranty covered first at 8 months.  Now another 6 months later, it is happening again, and I am being told it is out of warranty.  To me, this seems like a chronic problem and a design flaw that I should not have to keep paying for.  The magnetic options seems like a way to go, considering that fitbit keeps telling me I'm beyond warranty now.  BIg suggestion:  FIX THE FLAW!

Are the metal bands easy to install to the fitbit?

Simplicity itself. I love mine, much easier to take off and put on the Fitbit.

They clearly aren’t going to do anything about the Charge2 as they’ve just brought out a Charge3! I’ve moved to Apple x

I've had the same issue.  With FOUR Fitbit Charge 2s.  About every six to eight months.  I feel your frustration!

I have replaced 3 bands on my Charge 2.  The design is obviously at fault.  My Charge 2 is only approaching 2 years old.  It might be time for an Apple Watch!

My first Fitbit Flex stopped charging after I had it for about a year. When I called the company to tell them, they were kind enough to offer me a discount on a new Fitbit. I purchased the Charge 2. After about a year, one side of the band suddenly started disconnection from the unit. It happened about 4-5 times in one day. I called Fitbit and while they said it was no longer under warranty, they would send me a new band. That was only a couple of months ago. Just two days ago, the other side of the band suddenly disconnected from the unit for no reason. It happened 3 times in an hour. Luckily I had the other part of the band they had sent me so I could replace it. But now I'm anticipating this will happen again at some point. I called Fitbit to see if they would send me another band. The woman was very unfriendly and not helpful and just said it is out of warranty and I can just buy a band. That's it. I'm done with Fitbit. They are not standing behind their faulty product. Next I will buy an Apple Watch.
