Fitbit Charge 2 Band issues

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 2 was purchased a little less than 10 months ago, but I had band issues where top band doesn't stay clicked in starting after 3 or 4 months of my purchase. During that time, I replaced my band with a new one, but the same issue occurred only after a few weeks of having it replaced. No matter how hard I pressed, it didn't click in. I'd have my fitbit falling off randomly, and I thankfully had honest strangers who tapped me on the shoulder to hand it back to me, but I'm scared that I will lose my fitbit very soon. The fitbit came off my wrist while boarding the train once, and if it didn't land inside of the vehicle, I would have lost my fitbit that day. I'm afraid this might happen to me again because I ride the train often. I tried tightening the screw like other posts suggest, but it didn't quite work. What did work for me was when I lifted up the metal prong a bit, but I feel as if though this is only a temporary fix, and I still do not feel safe. The top band still feels a bit lose with a bit of wiggle, and it isn't as secure as the bottom band. My warranty is about to be up soon, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get my fitbit replaced. I really hope that it is possible because I don't think a product as popular as this should break this easily.

I hear you. I purchased new bands for my Charge 2 on Amazon for $6.00.
They are not Fitbit Bands, but are working so far. I know it won't last
though. Apple Watch is next for me too.

I really did like my fit bit charge 2 but unfortunately the band is a piece of junk, it kept popping of until yesterday it popped of for the last time because due to the horrible design of the band I lost the whole thing and for that reason i am not sure if I want to invest in another one until the band design is fixed so the band will not pop off.

After about a year one side comes off after 3-4 weeks of replacement like the watch part has worn????  Is this common.  Is it a Fitbit problem or a band problem?  Not using Fitbit bands.

It appears to be a band problem

I totally agree Delice. I purchased replacement bands on Amazon as well.
Still, the company is at fault for not correcting the band design.

Only one side. I thought I was hanging it and breaking it on the same side.   The bands are cheap cheap?

It’s a Fitbit problem.

The clip attachment has broken twice on mine. Each lasted less than a year. I ordered through the Fitbit store online to take advantage of the warranty. Save your receipt folks as it is quite time consuming if you don't have it. Evidently they don't save order histories.

I won’t waste any more time or money on Fitbit, I’ve moved to an Apple Watch and it is fantastic!

Unfortunately this is my third Fitbit purchase and am again having problems. It is only because I love the functionality I have been willing to stay with this brand. However this time having similar faulty wristband problems, am deeply disheartened to hear that users have replaced them and still it is a recurring problem. To prevent losing it I have taped the connection and used a rubber band to keep it on my wrist. Since this is my third purchase where problems have occurred each time either within the year or shortly after a year of purchase, this level of product failures is hard to tolerate even when you love the functionality of the Charge and the Charge HR. Not being a person who exerts heavy wear and tear on items as a person who spends most of their business time on computers and does not indulge in heavy duty after work activities; with wristbands have never experienced similar problems in the past with watches whether they were inexpensive or expensive. So to see these problems with the Fitbit bands is exceptionally annoying.

Definitely disheartened by the fact that other users have replaced the bands and still are having the problem. When I factor in the time in energy spent with finding interim ways to keep using the Fitbit and the amount of time writing customer service complaints, it certainly makes owning a Fitbit a losing proposition and substantially erodes confidence in Fitbit as a quality brand in terms of product durability. Disappointingly disillusioned with Fitbit at this point because after awhile even a staunch endorser and supporter loses confidence in a company's integrity and has to seek alternatives from a company's competitors. Tragic to see how many users like me have also been willing to give Fitbit an opportunity to restore and establish its reputation... however just like in baseball it may come down to diehard users to accept that it also applies to business transactions to acknowledge after three strikes, you are out!

Will be interesting to pursue customer service with a copy of this statement to see what resolution they will offer me as users like us with similar complaints.

While I've owned fitbits for several years and really love the device, the Fitbit Charge 2 I purchased a year ago has already gone through three bands. And my final band I had bought for this challenge won't snap on. These just break for no apparent reason. I can't remember the last time I was so frustrated with a device that I really enjoyed.

I agree. The company won't do anything about the problem.
When I can, I'm getting an Apple Watch.

If anyone has any recommendations for Fitbit competitors that have a better reputation in this area, please share.

Know the feeling. The last time I purchased a pack of 3 bands earlier this year and already one of them broke. The only reason why I did not lose my Fitbit was I use a rubber band over the Fitbit band as a backup. When I am ready to replace this Fitbit Charge 2, I definitely will look to choosing one of their competitors who hopefully have a better reputation for bands that do not need to be replaced. Just such a shame how Fitbit overlooks this flaw in their product especially when owners have been willing to give them second or even third chances. If it causes them to lose market share for this problem, maybe they will make changes.

I have a Charge 2. I just spoke to a Rep and asked if they had issues with the bands, she said No. Mine kept popping off and is now broken. I never played or changed the band, therefore should have lasted longer. I told the Rep I wanted an answer after whoever looks at my complaint. I may go with another competitor as well.

Yes, we've all had the same issue, and the same Rep response!
Apple here I come.

The rep is obviously misinformed. I am on my third band which has started to pop off. I'm done.
