Fitbit Charge 2 Bluetooth Stopped working...

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I got my Fitbit Charge 2 for Christmas and I've loved it so far. One of my favorite features is getting my text messages and incoming phone calls sent directly to my Fitbit. About a month ago, those features stopped working when a message on the screen of my Fitbit said that Bluetooth was disconnected. I proceeded to try all the troubleshooting steps, including reinstalling the Fitbit app on my phone, restarting my phone, and restarting the Fitbit. That wound up making it worse, for when I reinstalled the Fitbit app, the Fitbit wouldn't sync with my app and I'd get the red battery sign with a slash through it at the top of the home page of the app. I then tried instead on my computer, installed the Fitbit application on my Macbook, and it says it can't connect to my Fitbit because my bluetooth on my computer isn't on. It clearly is because my wireless mouse and keyboard are connected. This is very frustrating considering that I already had to trade in for a new Charge 2 shortly after I first got it in December because the original one wouldn't go through the initial set-up process.

Hey you @Katiermac12, welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's nice to hear you've already troubleshooted your Fitbit device.

By any chance, is it still showing under the account tab in the Fitbit app? If so, click on the name of the device, turn on "All-Day Sync" and ask it to "Sync Now". This should trigger it into looking for the Charge 2 and asking to pair to it again.

If it's not showing as a current device or the syncing procedure didn't work, I'd recommend doing the following:

  • From the Fitbit app tap the button on the top left corner and tap "devices".
  • Tap on your Fitbit listed in the menu and then at the bottom tap "Remove This device".
  • Go into the Bluetooth settings on your phone and tap on "Forget This Device".
  • Go back to the Fitbit app, go to the "Account" option in the upper right corner and select "Set up a Device". This should start the setup process for your device.

Make sure all other bluetooth enabled devices are out of range when you do this.

Something similar happened to me, but I figured out that I had the Bluetooth enabled on my iPad and iPhone which was confusing the Fitbit so I just have it set up on my iPhone. Since then, everything works pretty good!  Woman Very Happy

Keep me updated my friend!

Thanks for stopping by @I_need_help2Smiley Very Happy This doesn't sound good my friend, let's pair it again.

First of all, keep in mind that you can't set up your tracker from your device's Bluetooth screen; you must open the Fitbit app and follow the on-screen instructions.

Before setting it up, check the following requirements:

After verifying those requirements, you can now try setting it up again. But if you're still unable to pair it, then, try these steps:

  • Restart your Charge 2, 3 times in a row
  • Try the setup process again.
  • If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your mobile device (turn it off and then back on for 1 minute).
  • Try setting up your tracker again.
  • If you can't set up after the reboot, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app.

Keep me posted! Smiley Very Happy

I'm essentially stuck with it finding my Fitbit now and not syncing it.  It was working fine for months noticed yesterday it wasn't syncing tried removing the Fitbit and now anytime I try and set it up it just keeps saying we found your tracker connecting to tracker endlessly.

I'm having the same problem! Tried everything but it won't even find the charge 2 now!

I attempted and finally succeeded getting the device re-paired following schema from @MarreFitbit. However with those adjustments:

1. Prior to new setup restart the mobile device (did not reach pin screen).

2. When hanging in connection screen, restart the mobile device once again.

After second restart I was once again able to sync successfully.

I'm having same issues. Fitbit Charge 2 was synching until yesterday afternoon, when i made a few changes to setup (exercises, watch face.) Note that it was synching to both the desktop app (Windows 10) as well as Android phone.

It has not synched since, to either device.

Among the steps taken:

- uninstall and reinstall app

- restart phone

- multiple restarts of the fitbit (restart three times in a row, as advised above)

- remove all other bluetooth devices in the area

- restart bluetooth

After these steps did not work, I told the phone to "forget" the device, and ran through the setup steps again, after restarting the phone.

Now the phone is not seeing the Fitbit, and I cannot get the desktop to "see" it either.

Very excited about this Charge 2, so far really liking it (less than a week old) but this is disheartening. 😞

It is like the Charge 2 has stopped sending/receiving. Any thoughts? Should I return to company?

Okay, here's what finally worked: pressing and holding the button on the tracker WHILE the app is looking for the device during setup.

Synch issues now resolved as well.

I have also provided basically ALL the permissions, e.g. all day synch, always connected, keep-alive widget, notifications, location, etc.

@Susanology most annoyingly about these kind of issues I think are they seem to occur randomly and are tricky to get rid of. The company should attempt to build in better self-diagnose tools.

Feedback on need to update is a very  important aspect - and making certain that process work for users.

I forgot all about my iPad.  I've been trying to get bluetooth on iPhone to connect forever.  Checked iPad and sure enough, it was connected.  Thank you.

I've tried all suggestions and my fitbit still will not connect with bluetooth.   The app is only on my Samsung galaxy 9. I've removed my charge 2 from all other devices. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still no bluetooth connection.  Vit stopped working 2 days ago.

Something similar has happened with my Charge 2.  The device has worked fine for almost one year on the dot, but after getting a new computer the Fitbit won't connect its Bluetooth with the new computer or any other device.  The computer is off, I've reset the device 3x in a row (more than once), I've held the button in many different situations, and nothing has worked.  The Fitbit turns on just fine and my phone does detect that the Bluetooth is being broadcasted by the Fitbit.  There's no paired connection that is active at all during this process.  I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

Any chance of an update??? I'm in the same boat here - cant recognise the charge 2 to get it set up. Cant even use it as a standard watch as the time is wrong! Utterly useless.

Having same problem with Charge 2. Tried all the various ons and offs button pressing but no luck. Still works records stops etc but time and date out. When trying to synk shows no device. Go through re connect and get as far as inputting the 4 numbers from watch but just sits at " connecting" till it gives up and asks to try again..

also experiencing this over the last fortnight, watch is now 10 min out of time and it wont sync

I have tried all the various reset and delete options listed in this chat and have even tried to connect it to different devices one at a time to ensure it wasnt my end. The bluetooth itself on the watch seems to have died as its not even showing in any bluetooth broadcasted devices list

any reply from fitbit?

Guess ill finally be leaving fitbit after this and the non stop band replacements. galaxy watch here i come
