Fitbit Charge 2 started acting weird last night (7/4)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Last night (7/4/17) around 10pm my fitbit charge 2 went wild. It started rolling from screen to screen, then was turning notifications on and off, and vibrating the entire time.

I tried holding down on the side button which after a few seconds would stop the chaos and get it back to the main screen, but the second I let go of the button it would start turning the notifications back on and off, on and off, on and off, vibrating all the while.

I researched the reset option but could not do it as my charge cable was at work. The best I could do at the time was let it run its course until the battery died.

Next morning I got to work, put on the charge cable, let it charge for about 20 minutes and the performed the reset. Everything seems to be back to normal for the moment.

Thought it was odd and figured I would report it. If it happens again I will update.

I emailed with Fitbit and it could not be corrected. Because warranty ran out they offered a discount on a new one.

Same here. Now the display is totally blank, and it's out of warranty. I guess I'll go buy a Garmin. The ratings and comments on the Charge 3 are so bad that I’m not going to take a chance.

yes, mine also runs out of warranty.

I captured a video of its acting weird and sent it to them already.

Mine was out of warranty when I contacted support as well.  These things only have a one year warranty, and mine started doing this about a month and a half after the warranty ran out.  Basically seems like Fitbit knows these will die after a year, and want people to just keep spending money on new ones.

They offered me a discount on a new one, but the discount was only like 5-10% which is a slap in the face.  I've begun shopping for a new one of a different brand.  I hope everyone else in this thread ends up having a better experience than I did.

Just logging that mine is doing the same thing - flashing, vibrating, scrolling endlessly from screen to screen. It's currently stuck in 'Relax' mode (maybe it's trying to calm itself down, ha). In hopes of resetting it, I tried holding the  button down and just going through the 2 minute breathing pattern, but it stops after a few cycles of breathing. Now back to random scrolling, flashing and vibrating. I love my Charge 2 darn it!

I was just walking my dog and the exact thing just happened to me. I'm going to restart it and see how it goes from there.

Had the same issue, Mine just went absolutely Cuckoo out of the blues. Just won’t stop acting up.

FitBit if you know this is an issue with a lot of your products then it’s got to do with the design or firmware. Either fix it or send us replacements.

@Vijayant Thanks for being part of our Community!

Sorry to hear about your Charge 2 not working as it should. I noticed that you already have a ticket with our Support team so please work with them to find a solution to this issue. Take into consideration that they will abide by the warranty policy that you can find here.

Let me know how it goes.

Fitbit 'support'...?

Here's the response(s) in a nut shell...

We are so sorry.. No, we're not aware of this issue.. Please accept our 25% off coupon for a charge 3..But not a Charge 4..???

Uhhhh.  25% off your stated price on a Charge 3 is basically the same as ordering off of Amazon..

Where's the discount??

Plus your customer support responses were poor.. kind of like a pat on the head.. now go away..!

In my view.. you failed & I am more than willing to share this experience with every person that I interact with..

You need to do better..

I may as well leave this here too.

The Charge 2 will suddenly fail, once the warranty expires.

This is a known issue to Fitbit but they refuse to acknowledge this failure..

Reset will not work (for long anyway)... Most likely a firmware update that caused this failure..

Perhaps to encourage customers to purchase a new product..

Sounds like the battery life issue that caused Apple to 'pony up' some relief.

Don't bother with Fitbit support.. They will immediately offer you 25% off a newer product.. but their stated price will be ~20-25% above what you can buy the same product off of Amazon.

My Fitbit was not fixable. I have replaced it with versa 2 lite. A little
late with your response unfortunately. Thanks anyway.
