Heart rate/activity spikes while sleeping

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had this happen last night, and my Charge 2 recorded 58 activity minutes, while my heart rate went into cardio and peak for several minutes.  My sleep was recorded as "light" at the same time.  I have read many posts on this board and it sounds like others have experienced this, and, from what I understand, the HR monitor can be affected by temperature and humidity as well as movement, etc.  So my question is, since I sleep under an electric blanket, could the proximity of my Fitbit to the coils in the blanket (depending on my position) have affected how my heart rate and activity were recorded?  Or, should I call a cardiologist???  :-))  Thanks for any insights you may have.

@jerseygirl571 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! Sorry to hear that you are seeing spikes on your heart rate data while you sleep. Start by cleaning the back of your Versa with cotton and rubbing alcohol. After this restart it and check these suggestions to improve the heart rate reading. If you continue seeing this data it would be advisable that you consult a doctor for their professional opinion and it is also good to have an annual checkup.

Keep me posted!

But you did not answer the entire question and that is what I had googled to find out when it lead me to this particular question!

Will an electric blanket interfere with the performance of a FitBit and can it ruin the FitBit by wearing it when sleeping under an electric blanket.

Thank You

Just a follow up for anyone interested in this topic.  I did speak with a dr. About this and he said spikes are not unusual, but if there is sustained activity and it happens frequently, he would follow up.

also, and very relevant, twice I have seen that my Charge 2 recorded active minutes and elevated heart raise when I left it on a bathroom shelf while I took a shower.   Go figure.
