My wrist band keeps breaking!

ANSWERED

After having my charge two for a week, the part of the band that attaches to the actual Fitbit broke. I got a new one, but it broke in the exact same exact spot. Would my warranty still cover another one since I just got it replaced? And what can I do to stop this from happening? It hasn't even been a month since I've purchased it and only seems to last a week before the wristband breaks.

@AlvaroFitbit  I have always contacted Support/Customer Service as soon as my band breaks, roughly after 6 months, each time. Their suggestion was always to replace. The problem is that the warranty does not restart when you replace a band. So when the second band breaks, after another 6 months, it's inevitably over the 1 year warranty, so I have to purchase a new one.

Is there another solution that Support or Customer Service can provide? I have done this for the last 3 years that I've had my Fitibit. After so many replacements, I'm a bit done with it, unless you're able to tell me that they've fixed the problem and the next band will not break.

Mine broke again, and I've had it. I bought a new fitness tracker (Amazfit
Bip). I don't like it as much as my Fitbit, but at least I can anticipate
not having to repalce the band evey single tie the warranty expires.

So I received a new fit bit and the top button fell off. How do they make
these things?!?

Hello,

I just purchased a magnetic one on Amazon. I have had it approximately a month and it holds on my wrist very well. It takes a little getting used to. It is a different feel from the rubbery plastic one that comes with the Fitbit.

The problem is the rubber seams to just fall apart where it attaches to the watch a problem that had to be obvious if they did any testing of the fit bit before putting it out on the market. I have had to replace mine and my wife’s bands. Before long I will spend enough to have purchased a n Apple Watch

That's interesting. Mine always fails at the metal contact point. The metal part where the band attaches to the watch simply stops holding the band part. And always on one side only, I think the part with the buckle, but I'm not sure. The other side continues to hold onto the band. But as soon as it starts slipping off, I know it's done.

If you look close at the side that fails you will see part of the rubber has broken off that’s why it will not stay connected to the Fitbit

I have had a fit bit for a good few years the charge and a charge 2 I have had problems with all of them the quality of the band is ridiculous these fit bit’s are not cheep  and you’d expect them to last more than a couple of months my last replacement was in March and I am in the middle of trying to get another replacement off Fitbit once my warranty is up I will definitely not be replacing with another fit bit they are just not worth the money

Open up your Amazon app, spend about the cost of 2 cups of coffee from Dunkin Doughnuts. Or the price of a cup of coffee from Starbucks.

Problem solved with a third party band that costs 1/3 the price if a Fitbit original band.

Hi everyone.

As mentioned before if you are having issues with your band please let our Support team know about it. The design remains the same and as other members have mentioned there are third party options sold on Amazon that you can check out. Note that these bands aren't covered by Fitbit's warranty.

Keep me posted.

Using a off brand of band that works is better than continue to buy the ones with a design flaw is better than have your fit bit band break without you feeling it and losing it which is what happened to a friend of mine. Fitbit should step up and admit the problem and fix it the off brand company’s were able to

Mine was a charge 2 and my wife’s was an Alta HR they both had faulty bands the ones from Amazon have metal at the attachment point not rubber that’s why they are better

It’s a faulty design that Fitbit will not acknowledge

I've had my Fitbit for a couple of years and love it BUT for the Screen cracking and the Strap breaking.

Screen cracked down the centre after about 14 months, I see others have had same problem but not sure if it was me hitting it whilst putting a kitchen together so will accepted it.

The strap is another matter. After about 9 months the kept detaching from the charger (nearly lost it a couple of times), Fitbit replaced the strap. The new strap was ok for a few months then again started to detach itself, I lived with it but the other day the plastic bit on the strap that connects to the charger broke.

I thought I'd buy a charger 3 as it's waterproof but looking at this forum a lot of people seem to be having loads of trouble with it so I thought I'd take advice on this forum and buy a third party strap from Amazon. Well it came and I must say very impressed, feels very similar material as the original but it's far better connecting to the charger, a nice reassuring click that feels it's not going to keep coming unattached like the original Fitbit one.  Only £5.95 + £1 postage !!  Come on Fitbit stop making you substandard straps at high prices and get this people to make them for you. I like my fit bit but not going to buy a new one every 18 months.

The strap I brought - Link to the Amazon Strap

Now I must admit I've only had it a couple of days so no promises but it does seem to be good, time will tell but at a fiver don't mind buying one now and again.

My band broke at the screen connection hinge. It was a Fitbit brand leather band that was very expensive. I had mistakenly assumed a brand band would be best quality and paid a lot for that reason. It broke. During my Help chat, I texted them the pic of broken band w/ handwritten detail including item # and receipt. They immediately accepted request and sent Fitbit replacement leather band. This 2nd band broke within an infuriating 2 months (when original warranty had run over 1 month expiration). Replacement band does not come with a new warranty. I almost felt they intentionally sent a worse band than the original to compel I upgrade to the next Charge 3 iteration. I ordered an aftermarket Henoda Leather band for $10 on Amazon. The off-brand band worked perfectly. Fitbit has a great app and total junk for hardware, lesson learned. Just order a generic and don’t expect any of the Fitbit gear to be durable. I wish they would just merge their app & software to Apple Watch so they could mutually improve through collaboration.
