Inspire HR: Step accuracy

Hello,

I am using my Inspire HR only a few days, but find that the step count is way off. Only today I put the Inspire to charge and already the count show 1.662 steps. (1.32KM) We do not have a small house, but to walk that many steps will not happen. This was my confirmation of suspecting the same during the past few days. Since I used the Inspire, it gives me consistent way more steps, and distance, than I actually did. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks.

I just got a Fitbit Inspire two days ago and walked with a friend with the same Fitbit and our steps were way off.

Also in the morning I walked my dog to the end of my short block (5 houses) and back and made a quick return to Target and parked close to the store. The Fitbit showed I had walked 1.07 miles which isn’t possible.

Did anyone return their Fitbit Inspire? I’m not impressed.

  • I find this very aggravating.  I was once sitting on an armchair with my arm completely at rest (not moving) and the Fitbit HR Inspire added 1,000 steps.  I believe this is a defect that Fitbit refuses to acknowledge.  Sorry I bought it.

I’ll try some more tests and see what happens. I hope they won’t give me a problem if I return it. I’d just like to get my money back.

I can just use Map My Walk or Runkeeper since so many have complained about the Inspire.

Has anyone returned theirs??

If I were you I would return it. This is a well
know defect, flaw, whatever you want to
call it that FITBIT has known about for well
over a year but has yet to do anything about it. I switched to a Garmin vivosmart
4 and haven’t looked back. Unfortunately
it was too late to return mine when I realized it was the FITBIT and not me.

Yup! Thousands of us are fed up and have switched to another non-Fitbit device.
Fitbit continues to sell the defective device without bothering to fix it let alone warning unsuspecting victims aka customers.

Mine is doing the opposite, I have my steps goal set at 5000, but it stops at 4991 and tells me I need just 9 more steps to reach my goal.  I have taken at least 200 steps since and it won't register them.  I have tried plugging it in to see if it would reset but it won't.

Wow! What a crazy device! Unfortunately none of this was on the reviews I read before buying it.

Wow, that is interesting! Keep us posted
on this. Maybe they fixed it too far in the opposite direction!🤣

I’ve been moving my arms around and no steps were counted. Hooray! Tomorrow I’ll drive a set distance in my car and then walk it. If the Fitbit is accurate it shouldn’t be more than .1 mile off. That would be acceptable. Anything over that wouldn’t be.

I’m sure Fitbit have a way of deleting bad reviews because there should be hundreds on this. The step counter is only accurate on a long sustained walk of a minimum 10 minutes. As a day to day step counter it is rubbish and I’m amazed they have got away with still selling this device. The estimated calorie count is way out too. Only the heart monitor seems to be accurate.

I only bought mine a month ago, it only started happening the last few
weeks.

I hiked with a friend today and his Garmin GPS said we hiked 7.5 miles but my Fitbit said it was 9.38. I know that wasn’t right. Has anyone returned theirs? I used a buy-it-now on eBay and have a receipt. Do you think that will be a problem? My runkeeper app was only .2 miles off.
Something is terribly wrong!

Yes, the Inspire has a serious problem with tracking steps accurately. We
have been complaining for over a year
with no resolution in sight. I can't believe they are still selling the
Inspire model!!! Shame on them - they know it
is defective!!!

Return it and take your money and run. Go with another model or better yet
another brand. It was too late for me
to return mine, but I moved on and bought the Garmin Vivosmart 4 last year
and love it! It uses Garmin Connect
and syncs with the My Fitness Pal app.

Good luck!

Maybe Walmart can print you a duplicate receipt. If you paid with a credit card that should help.

If you used a credit card, maybe they’d accept what’s listed there. Depending on where you bought it, they might be able to print a duplicate receipt, of course that’s assuming it’s relatively new.
