Multiple trackers on same account

Hello to the community!

i have a question concerning linking several devices to one Fitbit account. I know it’s been possible to use several fitbits on one account (for daily use and workouts). With Versa and Charge 3 it changed coz they seem to have too similar OS. I was exited therefore to see a new slim tracker - Inspire - but when I chose to set up a new device the app only gave me the option to switch from Versa to Inspire 😞. So does it mean these two are not compatible or does Fitbit still plan at some point to allow the use of both?

Hi everyone. It's good to see you here in the forums and welcome to our new members. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your feedback about having more than one device linked in the same account. Let me explain that the Ionic, Charge 3, Versa series and Inspire series share a similar operative system and this is why the Fitbit app will allow you to have one of those devices at a time on one Fitbit account. I understand how helpful it would be to have more than one of the latest Fitbit devices linked on the same account to track your steps and be sure that our team always gathers the feedback posted in the forums to improve our products, services and overall environment.

In the meantime, let me recommend to take a look to the feature suggestion shared above and don't forget to add your vote to show your support. The more votes an idea receives, the better chance it has of getting the attention of the developers.

@SunsetRunner, thank you also for stopping by and sharing your insight.

@pacifit, I appreciate your thoughts about the information shared in the help article. This will be passed along and be sure that it won't go unnoticed.

If you have another question, let me know.

LizzyFitbit,

sorry, I don't understand your response.'Let me explain that the Ionic, Charge 3, Versa series and Inspire series share a similar operative system and this is why the Fitbit app will allow you to have one of those devices at a time on one Fitbit account.'

That's not an explanation, it's a statement, and it does not explain anything. Honestly, it sounds more like an excuse.

I do not understand why I have to keep swapping between my Ionic and my Inspire HR, depending on what I'm doing because the app won't let me have both. The OS of the device should be irrelevant to how the app treats it. There is clearly a demand for multiple devices on the same account at the same time (in the way that my Blaze and Ionic could work before the Blaze died), so either Fitbit need to get on and do it, or face losing business. Don't mean to sound heavy and nobody dies as a result, and in the big scheme if things it isn't as important as Global warming, or the conflict in the middle east, but it is annoying

Thanks, recovery runner. That's helpful. I was hoping to keep both of my recently purchased inspire hr, and use them interchangeably. Too bad that I'll not be keeping both. Yes, Fitbits will be losing on the bottomline.

Thanks, Carol-B. It's certainly an important feature. Have voted!

LizzieFitbit, yes, we already understand about the gallery/smart watches - only one can be attached to a Fitbit account at a time.  That was mentioed already in this thread.  Fitbit really needs to address this issue, if they want to remain competitive.  And it needs to be retrofitted so that all of us who already have multiple Fitbits are not expected to go out & buy more.  If we are going to spend more $$ on more trackers, we will be buying another brand.  I do understand we can "switch" trackers... but it's a very Rube Goldberg method & time consuming b/c the app needs to pair with the tracker & then you have to tap next/next/next/etc through about 10 pages of stuff.  When I used a Flex & a One, the switching was seamless & I never lost steps.  That's the way the current generation of your trackers should work.

I have been able to use multiple trackers (a Charge 3 & an Inspire) but it's a very Rube Goldberg method.  Julia_G posted earlier in this thread about it but I want to clarify what works for me.

I get both trackers and my phone & sit down.  First, sync the tracker I've been using (let's say my Charge 3) & make sure the steps in the app match the steps in the Charge 3.  Then, in the app, switch to the Inspire, sync & make sure the steps in the Inspire match the Charge 3.  Then I put the Charge 3 away & use the Inspire.  The reason I do it this way is because IMO/IME, you want to make sure you do not add any steps to either tracker until after you've switched.  IOW, don't sync Tracker 1, then get up & go get Tracker 2, bring it back & then sync Tracker 2.  This seems to be where steps can get lost/deleted.

As I said, this is a PITA & very Rube Goldberg b/c you have to pair the new tracker and tap through about 10 pages of info.  But so far... it's been working for me.

This is ridiculous! I've been a Fitbit customer since way back in the beginning. I have a drawer full of old fitbits, some work, some do not. Fitbit support have always been stellar in resolving any issues I had or even replacing a Fitbit when something was wrong with it. This brings me to this issue. My favorite hiking Fitbit was my Surge, it recently died and they do not make it any longer. The closest replacement I could find that I liked was the Ionic. Now after buying it, setting it up, etc, I find out I cannot have it on the same account with my Charge 3 ? That is a deal breaker! I love my Charge 3, its my daily tracker, I used the Surge, now Ionic for hiking in back country, Grand Canyon, etc where my phones GPS goes dormant, hence with Surge/Ionic, you don't need the phones GPS, these devices have built in GPS.

I have always had 2 trackers on my account. I refuse to delete one and add another one every time I want to switch, that's is ridiculous! Please fix this issue as its been going on way to long and I'd really like to stick with Fitbit.

I agree. I think it's total garbage that I can't have the inspire hr and versa on the same account. The versa was my day watch and was best for basically everything, but sucked at night for sleep. They don't make anything small, like a ring, so I bought inspire hr. Now I can't have them together. I've stopped using my versa for the most part, which sucks.

I lost my inspire her and bought a Versa 2. It won’t pair to my phone!

Hi @20Gugah20 - What is the error message? My guess is that your app still thinks the Inspire is still on your account. To resolve this,

  • Open the Fitbit app on your phone. Tap Account —> Inspire —> Remove This Inspire
  • Next, go into your phone’s Bluetooth settings. If the Inspire is listed, give the command to Forget This Device.

At that point, I would close the Fitbit app and power the phone off completely. Wait a few minutes. Power it back up. And try again to set up your Versa 2. Please let us know how it works out.

Any news on this? You are losing customers. Good customers who obviously have multiple fitbit devices.

And, again, the article at the link below is no longer valid because ALL of the devices that Fitbit is currently selling on their site are "smart" devices and therefore DO NOT support multiple devices on a fitbit account. I notified Fitbit of this problem a month ago and the article is still up on the website. Haven't checked the marketing description of the devices on the website but I'll bet there is no mention of the lack of this feature (multiple devices on fitbit account).

Hello Fitbit?! Can you please answer this? Is there any news on this? I want to know if Fitbit is going to make it possible to have 2 smart devices on the same account.

Sorry, @pacifit - No word yet. I agree with you and the others, I would love to have my Versa 2 and my Charge 3 both on my account at the same time. In the meantime, I follow the “sync, remove, add” process.

Yes you can do multiple trackers if they are not the same model. I have done that many times. Not within the last 18 months.

@SunsetRunner

Since the request for this feature is 2 years old, I would like to know when Fitbit will get around to addressing this. If they're not going to do it they should just say that so customers can move to a different brand.

I had a Inspire HR  and I lost it, I bought a versa lite and registered it with a customer service rep.  I’m sorry if I didn’t do it properly!
