Screen turns on randomly

Good morning,

I have the Inspire HR screen disabled as I usually wear a watch on the other hand, and the bracelet’s main use is as tracker.

Although it’s disabled, sometimes it lights up when I do a sudden movement with my arm (no double tap or clicking the side button). It’s especially uncomfortable when sleeping, as sometimes moving myself the bracelet would be on and waking me up with the light.

Anyone has the same issue? Is there any setting to fully disable the screen (apart from the configuration setting on the bracelet) or dim the light to the minimum?

Thanks

Agreed. Don’t see the point of tap or motion when it’s turned off as there is a button!!

Fully agreed!

I’d vote for the suggestion but I don’t expect FitBit developers be fast enough and I’d be returning the band in a few days, very uncomfortable flaw!

Update. Got my replacement and it doesn’t the same thing 😞 shame as I really like everything else.

Hi folks.

Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate the candid feedback regarding the 'double tap' sensitivity with Inspire/HR. I will be sure to forward this information to our product team.

@brutus001 Great idea. I was about to suggest that we start a Feature Suggestion around this topic but it appears that you have beaten me to the punch!

For anyone who has not done so, I recommend casting a vote on the Feature Suggestion above. This is the best way for our team to gauge interest in the implementation of new ideas/features.

If you have additional questions, you know where to find me!

@brutus001 could you please post the link of the feature request so I can mark it as the solution?

Hopefully the Product Team takes it seriously...

Will this be able to be fixed through the app or will it just be for a new model?

So after having my replacement for a few days it basically does the same thing. It’s either a flaw we have to live with or return and go with their competitor which is unfortunate as I like Fitbit and otherwise like the inspire.

I decided to return it earlier today. I was sick of waking up at night with the light of the screen. If FitBit decides to update the firmware in the future and fix this issue, then I’d be purchasing it again.

I’ve checked also the Charge 3 but it seems there is a huge issue with the screen, so I really don’t know what to do. Is there any similar band that you recommend? I’ve checked other brands and I’ve not found a winner...

I’m not sure I’m allowed to say on these posts but their major competitor that starts with a G has a small one I’m looking into. I’d prefer to stay with Fitbit but they are all so big and bulky and the G brand has a really slim one with all the same features ...am I allowed to say?

Tbh if you want to be the leader, you need to have top quality products. What I’m lately reading here about the issues with these models is crazy. Again, I strongly think that FitBit has a lot to offer, but they need to focus on the basics before launching fancy functionalities.

I haven’t got the point on “the screen is very sensible”. Is it good? Why? It seems like a beta test product. To consider purchasing the Alta HR, a G, a X or anything else should be ruled out by a top quality product like Inspire should have been

I'm just using black eletrical tape over the screen.   Works good enough sorta.   I wish it recognized rowing and that cleaning windows isnt swimming

I just am not paying over $100 for a product to wear ugly electrical tape over it. No offence. But we shouldn’t have to.

I am finding that this is an issue too. The tracker needs a night setting, where you can select certain hours during which it won't light up. As it is now its impossible to wear at night which means we can't benefit from the sleep tracker, one of the main reasons I bought it!

Fully agreed. If I were the Product Manager I’d feel embarrassed when hearing such a workaround.

Mod reworded my title, so it's a bit misleading.  I clarified in a response, so hopefully someone can change it to a properly worded title.

I ended up returning the device too unfortunately. I mainly liked the sleep activity feature but without a restful sleep because of the screen always waking me up, I stopped wearing it at night and just returned it.

I purchased the Inspire specifically to be able to use while swimming (and record sleep) and notice my battery is run VERY low because of the sensitivity of the pebble. This is after 'dimming' the bulb. It still lights up on my wrist as well; even when I am sitting here typing. I have only had this 3 weeks but am considering returning and obtaining a better product because of the sensitivity killing the battery and that's just for starters.

I have also noticed that it is not very accurate on the number of laps I am swimming or the time it takes to complete them. I was in the water for and hour and 40 minutes having swam 99 laps (1.5 miles). It read 98 minutes and 92 laps.

Also, it said I woke up at 7:07 one morning.

48 minutes after I actually woke up.

Is this common??

Yes - pretty much I just wear it now to “inspire” me to workout. I regard the data coming from the Fitbit to be only directionally correct, as in at a cardinal heading level of believability +/- 25% accurate. The form factor is nice though.

@AlexBarreras I know exactly what you mean, it lights up the room, I also have the screen disabled (the light bulb) and yet it still comes on. But I can't for the life of me try to get it to come on during the day, LOL. All in all I really love the thing, I have had many and this is the best one I have had. Maybe if people do not like the waking at night when it lights up they do offer a clip. Not sure if that would work for tracking your sleep though. How about wearing it upside down? Just ideas.

Like others have mentioned, my HR’s screen also wakes randomly when the screen waking feature is turned off. For example, it wakes without any movement or contact of any sort by anything (clothes, air movement, etc) while sitting on the couch watching TV. It’s the waking that prompts me to move my wrist. (Alarm to move is off too.) I love to see FitBit fix this annoyance.

Also, my 2 month old HR hasn’t inspired any confidence in FitBit’s reliability/accuracy, especially with the steps and sleep tracking features, which are both wildly inaccurate. I have a distinction sleep pattern due to a sleep disorder, which has been well documented by multiple sleep studies in hospital settings. Oftentimes, the HR will log REM as one of the other categories. 🤦‍:female_sign:
