Feedback about Fitbit Versa

Could anyone please tell me whether they have the same problems as I do.  Purchased the Versa as soon as it was released in the UK and the problems just keeping coming.

Steps - so sensitive. Tracks even when driving.

Syncing - doesn’t sync exercise. Doesn’t whether I’ve started it on the watch or I’ve expected it automatically detect the exercise.

Ive had several Fitbit’s and this is by far the worst.  Do I stick with it with the fact it’s a new release in mind and there will be updates or do I attempt to return?

But the Fitbit support is very helpful they’re always there to walk you through. They responded me for a couple of hours when I found out that heart and sleep monitor wasn’t working the heart monitor was back but not the sleep monitor still waiting for the response

Read on. Sounds like it doesn't matter which side of the pond your on.

Supposedly there is a fix, in about a month.

Personally I don't want a $200 piece of jewelry for a month, and then that's no guarantee.

Customer Service doesn't have an answer. The Community doesn't have an answer.

I'm taking mine back and getting a full refund.

How long do u think i could return this?? Ive alr3ady had ut a few mths but am sick of it not working properly

Best Answer

I'm so disappointed! Just got off the phone with tech support. My primary problems were:

1. Distance is always off (by a lot much of the time) when running or biking.

2. Notifications (texts/emails) never come through.

3. Not syncing with headphones.

Her response was that my type of phone (Moto Z Play) had not been tested, so there was no point in sending me a new device. I should just return it if I needed features that required connecting with my phone (which is all of them...).

UPDATE: As a last-ditch effort before returning, I decided to try using it with my husband's old Moto E4 phone. It took me hours to set myself up with the "new" phone and reset the Versa, but it seems to be working. I don't like this phone compared to my Moto Z, so now I have to decide whether to sacrifice smartphone performance in order to keep the Versa...

I have had to return my Ionic 5 times, I was actually going to try the versa, I feel the newer products are no good. I have had the Blaze and have never had a problem with it, the Blaze is my ‘go to’ when the ionic goes bad

Best Answer

Think i might and return my versa and get a blaze then

Best Answer

Is the Blaze still available?! I miss mine tremendously! Versa is JUNK. They need to recall it!

My versa is always 2 miles behind my friends phone, tracks steps when driving...but the most irritating thing not tracking the correct mileage steps etc

The ridiculous fix I used for this one particular problem is reset my stride length to 37. In doing that it will now average between 2100 and 2200 steps per mile and register my miles a little more accurately. This is by no means a "problem resolved". Just a cheat. I was hoping this problem would eventually get fixed and I could go back to my normal stride length, but nothing yet.

Thank you so much.. next time I hike I'll compare it to my friends and se
if we match up.. stride length does that have anything to do with your
height? I'm assuming so but I switched mine to 37.. I'm 5'1 and my friend
is 5'2 so not a huge difference

Yes, stride length does have something to do with your height. I am about 5'5" and mine used to be set at 26 and was good with the Blaze. I did have to experiment with different lengths to get it to total step count to match miles and found that 37 did the trick. You may have try a couple different measurements to get it right, but it's better than being disappointingly off compared to the rest of the world especially when you are comparing stats with friends.

After 7 months of buying the versa I have given up of not having notifications from any platform and it not syncing so have returned and brought the vivoactive 3 which has worked straight away. After this experience I will not be buying a fitbit again

@rachasl  my take is that everyone who is superhappy simply does not turn to these boards. That is why it seems that there are ONLY problems and more problems? 🙂

  • steps : spot on when walking/hiking/running, you can test this easily by walking say 200 steps and count steps for your self and compare with what the tracker says. I know some people have steps increasing while driving, to me it means that your arm vibrates a lot AND the fit of wristband is not as good as it should be so that the watch resonates. You have to play around a bit here because this really should not happen at all
  • syncing: yes, syncing is erratic, it is across all the newer trackers/watches. It has something to do with bluetooth on the tracker it seems (based on experience). Sometimes it helps to kill the app and restart a/o disable bluetooth and re-enable again. And then it goes... 🙂

@FannyEubanks

  • Distance is off : do you mean walking? Have you set your stride length, to a fixed number or auto? With auto you have to be carefull as it can change if change your weight for example. You may want to set your stride length to a fixed number. If you are uncertain, you can walk a certain known length, look at how many steps it took, and then divide to get the stride and use that.
  • Syncing with headphones: are you using the Fitbit Flyer earbuds? I recommend STRONGLY to turn off your phone's bluetooth (or don't have it nearby), so that the only signal that comes through is the one from the earbuds. Make sure you have the earbuds in pairing mode!!! Then, in the settings menu under bluetooth make sure it is in 'searching' mode. It should find it. If not give up the pairing, resync the tracker with the app, turn off bluetooth on the phone again, and try again pairing the earbuds. There seems a problem with the bluetooth library on the trackers that cause a lot of troubles.

@A-N-G"Versa is JUNK. They need to recall it!"  No, it is not, it is an awesome device at a fair price. Yes it could be better, and yes fitbit should acknowledge that there is a syncing problem (in reality a bluetooth problem), but the device is pretty neat.

@Mrs.G5"but the most irritating thing not tracking the correct mileage steps etc" - as per above: have you set the correct stride length? Or are you using auto-stride. The best thing is to get a fair estimate on stride by walking a known distance, divide by the number of steps, and use that as a fixed number. It will be quite accurate in most cases.

I tried numerous things with the fitbit versa. However my steps were good but that is the only thing that worked on it. It would never send me any notifications or sync and the last update took me 2 days to do. For £200 it was very expensive to use as a watch for the time and telling me how many steps I have done when I wanted it for all the other features 🤔

I have had mine for 2 weeks now. Nothing but oversensitive buggy trash. Fitbit won't take it back, but amazon will. smh

I bought my versa last year and it only take 4-6 months  dies on me then they replace it another 4 months today they stop working the only thing that works is the steps and time , Heart ♥️ rate stop so does the sleep record. Sleeping and heart rate is important to me but that seems to be the problem all the time,I’ve been a Fitbit fan ever since I started using it , I decided to change the charge 3 and give it to my husband and get the versa bcz it is more convenient to me bcz it is a water resistant/ you can swim on it ( though I don’t know how to swim) but I can wash dishes or wash my face without taking off the watch. I take good care of my stuff but it seems their always have a problem.i did turn off my blue tooth connection on my iPhone X then tried to reset my versa but none of those works.

Waiting for the response from Fitbit customer service , Fitbit staffers was very helpful that I must admit
