Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I had this problem after I shut my Versa down today after the update. Wouldn't start by pressing the "back button" (I assume it means the left button) per fitbit's supposed "Help". Eventually I held down all three buttons simultaneously and kept holding them until the fitbit symbol eventually (more than one minute) appeared. I hope this works for you too.

@Beezy1978 I totally forgot to mention how fast this update was compared to other updates in the past. I was very pleasantly surprised. I did the same as you and started the update process after both devices were on their chargers. When I got out of the shower it was all done. Excellent.

I thought it was only me! Updated yesterday with my OG versa plugged in its charger. No issues encountered throughout the whole process. After the update, I let my watch charge to 100% before unplugging it and turning it off for the night.
Today, approximately 16-18hrs after shutting it off, I tried to turn it back on and was surprised to see the empty battery sign saying 0%.
I managed to charge it up again to 100%, and 2.5hrs later, with just leaving it on my wrist, no activity recording, except heartrate, screen off, and bluetooth off... It's down by 3%.
I will monitor the battery overnight as it normally lasts me 4-6 days without needing a recharge, and using it for exercises and notifications.

I'm putting my Versa Classic in storage, as I have a functioning Versa 2 to use in the meantime. I did a factory reset and the battery seems to be okay. The wipe went through without any problems as well. If I ever do go back to using my Versa Classic, I'm hoping that a clean install of the latest firmware will make sure there aren't any problems with it. If there are, I'll just factory wipe it again and pair it back up with my computer (which has already proven to work like a charm). Cheers

This update turned my Fitbit into a brick. The only thing less useful than that was when your customer service told me I had to buy a new one. Seriously Fitbit? Come on now, do better than that? Why would I want to buy another device from you after that!

I have a water issue too post update. It won't log water at all in the watch (versa 2). Says it's logged but then doesn't update the total. I have to literally go into the app to log water now which is quite frustrating. I like the other new features so far though.

I read that being unable to find your device and not being able to sync is a known issue? When will you fix this? My Versa will not even keep proper time, so it's even useless as a watch.

If I have 5 faces on my watch and delete on in the app, and add another without doing a sync I have 6 watch faces on the watch, and I can select the one that was deleted and it works. At some point the extra one will disappear.

@Lucidqo, Yep, same issue here and it's a known issue (per a chat with them this morning). They told me to wait for a fix, but did not say the timeline.

How do we uninstall to a previous version? The new font, exercise list and other features don't do it for me and I prefer the previous version with the photos and exercise tracking. Or is there at least a way to change the color scheme? Mine now is this vile orange color (i.e. the exercise icon, heartrate monitor, etc.)
Thanks for any assist with this!

After the update a manual weight entry showed up that was about 2.5 times my actual weight entry. After deleting the entry and manually adding new weight entries the entry that the update caused keeps showing back up a a manual weight entry. Getting tired of changing it.

It's horrible. for me and my girlfriend the watch did not work properly anymore. When shutting down it is almost impossible to get it back on (need to hold a combination for 10 seconds), the battery life is now less then 30 hours and the date is not updating when you turn it back on the next morning.
The update seemed to make it quicker at first, but now it's useless... I wonder how the update is tested before release...

Updated my VERSA Special Edition (1st gen) like 2 days ago. This device has now tons of software issues, some of them are as below:
1) One click start of a device is gone which is a huge MINUS.
2) The battery life from 4-5 days gone down to 16-20 hrs.
3) Lags while swiping different screens.
4) Notification glitches.
Could someone suggest as in how to roll back this update?

Went for a swim last night and it just shutdown the swim activity after 36 lengths so started the swim activity again. When I looked at the app it had the correct number of lengths but said I had been swimming for 1hr 20mins which is incorrect I had swam for 32mins. Really not good since the update anyone else getting incorrect metrics on their activities?

yes, had the same issue for tracking the swim when it was working. Then it just stopped working altogether.

I have the same set of issues that you're experiencing. This only denotes that the Fitbit developer and testers are useless.
