Update: This has now released to 100%
We’re excited to announce that a firmware update for Versa, Versa 2, and Versa Lite will be available soon! Some of you may already have this update available - if you installed it, let us know what you think!
If you don’t see the update yet, that’s expected. Check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We expect everyone to receive the update in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.
Did you know that we gradually release our updates? We do this to make sure everything is working just right for you. Sometimes we find an issue and it might take a little longer than expected for everyone to get the update. While you might see suggestions on how to “force” an update, we ask that you don’t try any of these workarounds. Most of the time the update won’t be available and you can lose data or encounter other difficulties. The best way to get the update is to be patient and wait for the update banner to appear in the Fitbit app.

Whatever you did my Versa 2 is now not syncing, I'm about to just return it and go with another brand because your help staff is obviously not trained to troubleshoot issues. Its been a nightmare for the last 3 days.

It's impressive that you broke so many watches in January, sat around for 6 months, and then released another patch to kill even more

The Fitbit watch can only do 2.4Ghz. There is no watch that does 5.0Ghz.

Update on my Versa 2 situation:
After multiple attempts to get someone from customer service to actually help me, I have received an email about my Fitbit. Their solution for my Fitbit dying after a software update was to offer me a 35% discount on a new Fitbit! What a bunch of malarkey! I will not be purchasing another Fitbit, but will instead go with a reliable smartwatch.

This happened the last time I updated a few months ago, and my heart rate monitor has been broken since then! Ugh. I was hoping they would have fixed that in this update, but clearly there are still some big issues. I hope everything works out for you!!
----------------------------------------------
This is exactly my experience. My fitbit has been practically useless since I updated it a few months ago. I got my hopes up when I saw there was an update, but it turns out this update just ruined more of our watches!

UPDATE to my post on 07-21-2021 21:05
The issue with the update is known to Fitbit.
They are well aware that the update is ruining watch devices.
The person I was speaking to said to just " simply wait for an update fix ".
I've been searching through the community for others with the same experience as me and they have been waiting for a fix for MONTHS!!!!
The issue on the update is that they are trying to instal a new feature " Active Zone Minutes " to all the watches.
This feature is the reason why watches are now useless.
If no one speaks up about this, like I am, nothing will get done to fix this.
I have found a work around to defeat the update.
Cause I was forced into the last update through the app.
I had no choice to update if I wanted to use the app.
The work around is to use the internet browser.
And avoid using the app at all costs.
You can still change all the settings to your watch on the browser.
That and you literally have to either buy or exchange your Fitbit watch.
And NEVER EVER UPDATE at all costs.
As you can see in the screenshot, the "Active Zone Minutes" is a hit and miss.
This is where the issues may be coming from.
And Fitbit is not working on fixing this issue fast enough.Active Zone Minutes hit and miss

Shortly after I bought my Versa 2 in 2019, they made a similar change. Before that update, my exercise would show as primarily in the fat burn and cardio zone. After the update, every exercise that I did was always below zone. It didn't matter what I did, the duration, or the intensity. It was always tracked as below zone. Imagine riding a stationary bike for 60 minutes on the hill or strength mode at a rate of 17-18 mph and being below zone the entire time! It was beyond frustrating that one day I had activities in the zones, and the next day, I didn't. To make matters worse, I had heart surgery four years ago, and am on some medications that slow my heart rate down. The medications that I take basically ensure that my maximum heart rate is not the calculation that Fitbit uses (220-age). This makes all of their activity zones out of whack for me too. What I did, was manually decrease my maximum heart rate. I used the prior data that I had to "guestimate" my MHR taking into consideration the Beta Blockers that I am on and it works pretty well. As for the most recent upgrade, and any future upgrades, I'm not going to update the firmware until I am sure that it won't cause any problems. The last firmware upgrade caused my battery to be crap for six weeks, so I learned my lesson the hard way.

I updated my firmware last week.
Today the fit bit locked up, Then reset for 20mins before constantly vibrating then went dead.
Got on chat with Fitbit, they could not fix it, passed me over to warranty group who advised me that my Versa was out of warranty and sent me a link where to buy a new one.
This makes me very suspicious that the firmware update could be breaking the watches.

Since the update, my Versa is showing really high BPMs for heartrate. The calories calculated for the day are three times as high as they were before the update. I also think the battery is draining faster than it was before. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I updated my versa 2
However, because I noted a discrepancy I wore both my versa 2 and my versa light (registered under a different email account) for an 11 mile quick walk. The versa light called the activity aerobic and recorded some 1300 calories. The Versa 2 called the same activity just a walk and recorded only 332 calories? Obviously the calorie counts and activity is somewhat incorrect.
?????

Since the update Ive had a white screen that I managed to sort. 24 hours later now have a permanent black screen even after trying a reset, It still recording data on the app but what's the point of that. This is the second fit bit I've had that doesn't last one year and always screen issues. Anyone else had issues with versa2 screen since update ?

Three days after the update bricked my versa 2, the face spontaneously changed from the fitbit logo to a red X.
After restarting everything a few times, it's connecting again. Still getting an Apple Watch next.

This killed my versa. It has the wrong time and day, adds 260,000 steps for some reason, need to charge every other day instead of once a week and it no longer sink to my phone. I reinstalled app 3 times, tried it on different devices but it sill will not sink with anything. It’s like Bluetooth no longer works on it. I’ve used Fitbit since 2013 but don’t think I will be continuing with them. The solution to this problem is not to get a new versa like support says.

What good is the link for "What's new and fixed"? All it says is "This release includes bug fixes and improvements." I don't want to update unless I know the the bug of not working with downloaded music and earbuds has been fixed. And what improvements? Have the improvements been system tested?
It appears Fitbit updates break more things than they fix.

Hi. Since the update on Wednesday July 21, 2021, my watch stopped getting stats.
Now it's fixed. Thanks to paying for the extra extended warranty.
I got mine replace.
FOR THE 3RD TIME!!!!
It seems like they know the updates are killing watches.
But are assuring everyone to wait for an update.
Or simply buy a new one!!!
Fitbit. Do better.

This update is making my battery life ridiculous. Since updating I get maybe 4hrs of battery life when before it I could get almost 4 days easy. I have had to charge it twice today already.
Update: This is happening with mine too.
