I love the new Fitbit Versa.  It seems to be a good smartwatch.  But, I want to know if there are plans to develop a Fitbit smartwatch with all the features of the Versa plus the ability to answer and make calls with an Android smartphone via bluetooth.  I love the smartphone notifications ability with Versa.  I am looking for a Fitbit smartwatch with the capability to answer and make calls.  Please!!!  Right now, I wear my Fitbit on one arm and a smartwatch on the other one.  I really want one device on one arm.

I feel the same way. I got the Versa to help motivate me move a little more, I have a job that has me sitting 99% of the day. I don't however want to lose some the things I've come to expect from a smart watch.

When will you be able to answer using an Android phone.

I bought my versa the day it came out and I still cannot answer calls from my android. I can see that someone is calling on my fitbit and read texts, but I cannot answer the call on my fitbit when my phone is next to me. My husband can though with his versa and his iPhone. Anyone know what to do?

Android users don't have that access. Only iPhone. Something that us android users have been long waiting for. Yet get the same response from fitbit team.

Good to know but why isn't a functionality that basic available on Android as well  I mean you plan on make quick replies available on Android later on, I'm having a hard time understanding that you can't make answering phone calls possible on Android especially given the fact that it's possible on iOS which in the world of mobile Operating Systems isn't well-known for its openness .

Exactly. It was the same way with the fitbit blaze. They never have a good answer.

I love how Fitbit states, but they didn't say that it was only going to be for Apple. Sounds like a little bit of false advertising. The fitbit I had was an Alta, so I had no idea that fitbit and Apple were getting along, but not android(which is weird since you would think Apple would want to force Apple phone owners to get the Apple watch instead of fitbit).

Nobody has said that apple and Fitbit get along, this is about fitbits programing of their app and how it interfaces with the respective phones, apple has nothing to do with it .

Since i am able to download any one ofa few dozen apps that interface with my dialer, i would think this would eeasy. I suspect it has something to do with fitbit choosing Bluetooth classic to send notifications on android and BTLE with Apple.

As for making and receiving calls through a Fitbit tracker, it first will require a microphone and speaker added to the tracker and Fitbit has not done this yet.

As for the ability to reject or accept calls on android. I would add a vote to

Turn on speaker phone for incomingcalls from Ioni...

And Answer/Reject Callson Blaze

This will reinforce that ionic users with android want this feature.

@Matt_Pebble_2 they did not buy Pebble, they only bought some of Pebbles assets and hired their engineers. I explained eat I suspect above.

I too would love a Fitbit smartwatch that did everything my current Samsung watch does, so I could stop wearing a watch on 1 arm & fit it on the other. My Samsung watch is the Neo 2 (so several years old) & I can reply to text using template answers or talk to text. I can ignore calls or answer them, as well as make a call. I can also change the background screen using any image on my phone. I don't understand why Fitbit is so behind in this technology. Also allowing the newer watches to handle calls if using iOS. Really...iPhone users have the apple watch & that is there go too. Maybe focus on the android users & get a TON more customers.

I didn't see that post I will vote for it thank you!

The marketing doesn't make it clear that the features are not universal. For years I've been able to answer and reject calls on my pebble and my $35 Garmin. Kind of disappointing. I thought the versa would be able to control music if not sync it. My garmin also controlled my google play etc without any extra setup. Fitbit should clearly state these features are not available (yet?) And if /when they will be. Otherwise I have to have the Garmin too?!? Swimming performance better be awesome or the Versa may be going back. 😞

Why doesn't my versa allow me to answer or decline calls?

@RoxxyRaquel your answer may be found further up, the simple answer is because this feature was not programmed pro the versa.

@Bb-Mitch controlling music should not require any setup other than connecting the Bluetooth to the phone. As would be the case for headphones

Are people really that lazy today that they can’t simply just reject a call from their phone if it is next to them?

My neighbor has a watch that she can answer calls through, but then everyone in a quite room can hear both sides of the conversation.. No thank you!

Best Answer
Blue steel that was a rude comment to make. No one is being lazy. But the technology is out there and is a part of being a smart watch.

This whole thread is simply a conversation between users. . @blu-steel has his opinion like you have your opinion.

If your interested in giving your thoughts to the developers @pmsolomon where other users may vote and add their comments, a request should be made in the Feature Suggestion Board. Currently there is a request for the Blaze and the ionic, but not the Versa.

Wow - hostile - and silly...
It's not about being lazy. With a $30 Garmin (sale) I can be riding a chair
lift - or have my phone sitting pool side - and without touching it with
wet hands or exposing it to the cold swipe my write and take a call. Same
thing goes for being in the kitchen / hands full. I can swipe my wrist with
my nose if I have to. It's a great convenience at times. And fitbit
promoted the ability - but only made it work with iphone. Why? You can't
blame the phone technology - Garmin could do it. So it's disappointing and
maybe deceptive marketing.
