Sleep tracking inaccurate with Versa

My Versa tracks my sleep but it's inaccurate.  I woke up this morning at 7am.  My Versa reported I was awake at 5am & it stopped tracking my sleep.  Other nights it starts my sleep long after I go to bed.  I'm asleep after my head hits the pillow.  My Blaze used to track sleep if I fell asleep in the recliner, recorded awake time when I moved to my bed & went back to tracking sleep until I woke in the morning.  Are there known issues with the Versa's sleep tracking that are being corrected by Fitbit?  I made the wrong assumption accuracy (heart rate, steps, sleep) would not be an issue with the Versa since the Blaze works so well.

Right,  well this is weird but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this......

Before bed, if I make sure the sensor on the back of the fitbit is cleaned with a lens wipe and my wrist is absolutely dry when I put the fitbit on after washing - the sleep tracking has worked every time.

I have had other fitbits which worked fine with sleep tracking whether I was so particular or not.

All I can say is when I don't clean the sensor my tracking is rubbish - when I thoroughly dry my wrist and clean the sensor it has worked every time.

I've been experimenting randomly and unless there's a strange sequence of coincidences, the clean, dry sensor seems to be the answer, even though I sweat through the night the sleep tracking has worked .... Go figure!!!

Might it be the Versa's modified sensor  that has issues ?

I have previously tried changing sensitivity but it made no difference - only the cleaned sensor seems to do it for me.  It's a pain but if it is a consistent solution I'll be a bit happier.

I'd be interested to know from fitbit techies why this might make such a difference.

I am cautiously optimistic to reply that 9 out of the past 10 nights my Versa sleep tracking results have been accurate with detailed results.  I had reloaded the Fitbit app and I changed my clock face back to the default version.  I am hoping that this is trend and not just luck.

I am also having the same issues with my Versa not tracking my sleep properly. I've restarted it several times. I was considering returning it but I've already had it over 30 days. Please help!

UPDATE:  After seeing several more comments it appears that tracking sleep is not a reliable feature of the Versa.  This is very disappointing!

I have seen the same change in results for the past 6 days after deleting
the app and restarting the watch. I haven't changed to the default face,
but using a simple analog face.

I just did the same (new version app and clock to original) and it worked for the last week.

What is the original clockface? I am ready to try anything. The sleep tracker is awful

The original clock face is “Layers.”

I deleted the app, re-installed it, restarted my versa, did not change the clock face and it still started tracking 2 hours after I actually went to bed.

Don't even bother trying, this feature is broken in the Fitbit Versa, no
amount of tinkering will fix it. At best it needs a software update, and
at worse, there is a problem with the hardware, in which case we would be
forever out of luck.

Make sure your profile is correct. My spouse and myself ( we have 2 Versas)
have had accurate sleep tracking ( no break in sleeping hours) for last 2
weeks. I think correct profile (age, weight, height & sex) might help along
with current updates. I have no affiliation with Fitbit.

Good luck

I have tried everything that has been suggested on these posts and still no luck - my Versa usually doesn’t start tracking my sleep until 2 hours after I go to sleep - I ask my wife how quick I went to sleep and the answer is immediately! Last night I cleaned the back of the Versaand made sure it was snug - must have made it mad because it didn’t start tracking for 4 hours - I edit the log every day but I feel the Versa should be doing it and not me - I watching the 30 day window - like everything else about the Versa but really hate this - sure wish Fitbit would come up with a solution - I am not affiliated with Fitbit

Ok so here's what I've discovered so far. After switching to a simpler/original clock face "stars," it still didnt work unless I either restart the versa EVERY night. I tested this theory over weeks time. Clean in ng the sensor made no difference without the restart.  I did turn it upside down so the HR sensor was on the inside of my wrist a couple nights which worked,  I don't remember if I did that without a restart though.

Someone this seems rather tedious to demand for a smartwatch/tracker that costs a couple hundred $$$$.

It says I went to bed 2-4 hrs after I did which results in it tracking only like 3 hrs of sleep each night, which is false. It wasn’t like this before when my Versa was new but after not using it to track sleep for a while it is way off. I have the latest firmware and app. Also have restarted it and tested change sleep tracking sensitivity to sensitive without any change.

I am having issues too.  But mine isn't when sleep starts or ends.  It's whether I get sleep stages or basic sleep.  It worked fine for several weeks, but then suddenly would only give me basic sleep stats.  I had to reboot each time to get sleep stages. I don't really know "where" the sleep stages or determined.  IT seems customer support is telling me in the app.  Not on the watch.  My HR graph is complete every time I don't get sleep stages, so I dont really understand what's going on.  I hope they fix this as this is one reason I upgraded from the Alta.

I have had my Versa for a couple months now.  It worked fine up until a week or two ago when it first stopped recording heartbeat.  Now, the last two days, it has totally quit recording sleep.  I do, however, see where sleep has been very inaccurate the last month or so - recording a much shorter time than what I  know I have slept.  This is frustrating.  I hope the fix happen soon or I will be moving on to a new product.  I need reliable data.

Thank you MargoGFitbit for being our moderator.

As you can see there is lots of frustration with the sleep tracking. I have worn my on both wrists, outside the wrist and inside, tighter and looser but no change in results. It is the sleep start that if off - wake time is spot on. Weird thing is if I "Edit" the sleep log to when I think I went  to sleep the sleep tracker has details - light, rem, awake, etc back to the time I put in- just doesn't get the Sleep Start right. I wore my Fitbit charge a couple of nights and it is accurate and shows on the App - this is a "work around " that works but not ideal.

I love everlasting else about the Versa but I have 1 week left in my return window and wondering if I should return and go another route. Would love to see time line for solution !

Agreed. I followed someone else’s advice and I clean the sensors and wipe my wrist before going to bed, and the device has been accurate for 3 straight days.

I have the same problem. The wake time is accurate, it’s the start time
that is not correct. I should try wearing my charge 2 and see what kind of
readings I get from it.
