Versa Inaccurate Step Counts

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

My first Fitbit but very disappointed with the Versa due to inaccurate step counts. I've read many posts about inaccurate step counts by other users as well and followed steps to resolve the issue but doesn't work (restarting the device several times).

I'm at office typing and every couple minutes, my steps are going up!!! Frusting for the price I've paid and fails to do its job it was meant to be.... I'm really hoping there will be a patch/update for this fix.

Please help if there were other solutions that might help me.

Thank you

Thanks for your suggestion Gufi. I already did that. But the thing is, in the activity history, the individual step counts seem to be reasonable (if not accurate), but overall daily stepcount is ridiculously high. I can't believe my step count is 1.2 million in 3 weeks LOL.

LOL, I totally agree. Not sure how you can fix this. Maybe if you try testing it out..? Like make sure to note the steps you have done so far, sync the Versa and do 100 steps and count every step you take. Then check if the steps match but make sure to wait for a minute when you've done the 100 steps because sometimes the counter may slow a bit until you see the actual figures.

If it's way too much just restart it by pressing and holding the left and bottom right button until it restarts. If nothing else with this test you can at least figure if your stride length is set correctly and try changing it.

At the end of the day you might want to check with your retailer or Fitbit support. Hope this helps because the Versa is otherwise a good gadget 🙂

My fitbit is showing inaccurate stepcounts. I woke up this morning . And just went downstairs and it is showing more than 5000 steps and o.9 km only

I have been using it for past 20 days or so.

Highly disappointed with its performance.

While driving i have to switch it off to keep off the qrong step counts and there also i have observed that it restarts on its own.

Kindly do something  or take this piece back and exchangr it with the appropriate piece.

I have been facing this issue as well. Everytime I ride my bike to office it shows 3000 steps extra. This is frustrating.

the whole point behind posting our problems is to get a response from
fitbit which clearly they are not interested in.
we have wasted so much amount on this useless watch .

I bought my Fitbit Versa today. I supposedly did 590 steps walking to the bedroom! Bitterly disappointed!

I'm having the opposite problem. My new Versa....was on my treadmill for 48 minutes and it registers 547 steps.  Where is the real help on this web site?

Unfortunately, Fitbit provided ZERO support for this problem. It baffles me how a company that exists FAILS to do what it stands for... "Fitbit helps people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data..." that's their mission statement. Empowering people with data that can't even collect properly.

I wasted my 200$ on this piece of junk and my colleagues at work ask me about it... needless to say that I highly discourage them from wasting their money as well.... if you guys recently bought it and if refundable, I say save yourselves frustration and get your money back while you can.

I just got my versa for only this morning.  And set up for about 1 hour.  And then went to workout zumba.  And after finishing my zumba I got 12890 steps and 780 calories burn.  I am curious wether this result were corect?

Woke up the last two mornings to 30K steps while it was sitting on the nightstand all night.  Contacted Fitbit, and there's no solution.  They just offered a return. Sad!

Was there a fan on your nightstand by any chance? I ask this because my issue was that it was on a nightstand charging. The fan on the nightstand created vibrations that mimicked movement thus giving me alot of steps.

It was on my nightstand but with no fan or anything that could be causing vibrations.

I have just purchased the Fitbit Versa & I am gaining like 100’s more steps just by moving my arm, no difference to dominant or non dominant, really disappointing at the cost of near £200 was hoping for something more accurate ☹️Deciding if to return & get my money back!!

Ouch. I'm actually on the forum to see if the Versa has any ongoing issues before I buy. I got burnt previously with a bubbling-band on my Charge HR due to not researching. With this and the GPS issue, you guys are making me think twice.  😞

If you need or care about step count, DEFINITELY do NOT buy and save money. if you are looking for `sleek` watch with decent sleep tracker (time you went to bed and wake up is pretty reliable), then go for it (although there are better options out there for these functions)

there`s no fix for this. welcom to the club. at this point, i`ve already accepted the fact that i wasted my money on this junk. i only use it for sleep tracker and time (time wont show when i flick my wrist anymore... so i have to manually push the button. it just gets better and better).

I’m just wandering if it’s maybe the odd one or something that is maybe faulty as a friend of mine also has & she says she loves it & believes it to be accurate with the steps! Mine on the other hand is counting steps double I think. I’m going to try making my stride bigger in settings and see if it makes a difference? Good luck & hope you make the right decision 🤞🏼

If you can return it, don't waste your money. I couldn't return mine because of the store's bs policy.
