Fitbit Update: 4/27

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app.

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Fitbit Update: 12/12

Hi Versa Lite users,

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method.

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating.
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer.

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation while we work hard on a fix.

They will never another dollar from me.  They have no customer support and do not stand behind their product.  Waste of my hard earned money.

I seem to still be having trouble with notifications. Seem to get calls but nothing else.had this before the firmware issue though. I'm wondering if it's to do with my Huawei phone as know a few people who have this brand phone and alsoh trouble with their notifications. Keeps saying on my Fitbit app nofications are off, please restart phone to get them again but this doesn't work 🙄

Just ensure it does everything it did before the update. My fitbit was a xmas gift I am slowly bringing her up to datewith the issues with this watch. Since, it only tracks my workouts, I use it when I lift and the treadmill only all the otherfeatures are gone. One of these days I will place it in under my tires of my truck and be done with it.

How do you connect to a laptop?  Do you put the watch on the charger then plug into the USB on the computer?  Then do you have to download the Fitbit App?  Please share the steps if you can.  My notifications stopped working Sunday 2/23 on my Versa Lite.  I've done everything I've read here to do to get them to work and nothing has worked.

Thanks!

Yes exactly as you said. Plug watch into charger then the charger into the usb on the laptop, download the Fitbit app. Go onto help then at the bottom of the pop up box it says turn on usb transfer . Words to that affect then do the update again. That worked for me.  Only thing I'm still having trouble with is my notifications at the mo.

I was able to fix mine after a factory reset. It requires a Windows 10
laptop. Basically, it involves stopping Fitbit on your phone, then set up
the Fitbit app on my Win 10 laptop.. After that you connect the USB charger
to the USB port on my laptop. Use laptop Bluetooth to pair Fitbit with the
Win 10 laptop. and then start the update from within the WINDOWS 10 app
(not the phone app). I have done this twice (I accidentally update once,
again) and it worked both times.

This company is lame will not offer refunds within warranty periods. They also tell you your operating system will not work with their product even though it clearly states that your operating system works.

This is not normal.  This is all due to a bad update they seem to have no intent to fix.

I got mine working. I decided that I couldn't do anymore damage, so I factory reset and went through the whole setup again. After I downloaded the updates, things still weren't working, but I started to dig around and came across notification settings that I haven't seen before and it seems nobody has bothered to tell anyone about. All mine were turned off! I went through and set which ones I wanted notifying me and after I got through, they all worked. I know this isn't going to help some of the folks, but it will the ones like me who just needed notifications. Below is where the settings are.
Open your fitbit app and open your account by tapping the icon in the top left. Where it says device hold down on Versa 2. In the next screen scroll down to Notifications under General. Then in that screen tap App Notifications. Go through those and choose what apps you want to be notified by.

This is the most frustrating piece of technology I have ever owned.

I guess Fitbit is not working to hard to fix the firmware update problem because its now March 2020 and still not fixed.

I just got my new watch.....after two months.  I come on here to see if the problem has been fixed and see that it hasn't.  UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not updating it until it's been fixed.....which looks like that may be NEVER!!!!  can't use new watchfaces because they require it to have the new firmware which does NOT work.  unreal!!!
