Just wondering if anyone is successfully using the Versa with a Note 8 since it's not on the list of supported devices.

TIA

Did you ever get the music controls to work? I get notifications, but my music controls still say phone cannot be found. Bluetooth is enabled of course.

I had to turn in my popups on my messages.

I us message +.

With the regular message versa would work.

But I wanted the message +.

So try the pop-ups but try not everything with it.

I'm happy at least I got it on my fitbit.

My mother has the galaxy s8 she fidnt have to turn anything on.

I set hers up, and she was set.

Very strange that the note woke work right.

Try shutting the phone off, and shut off the blue tooth as well.

You  can turn off the versa with the left button and right lower botton.

It takes a few minutes.

And before that trash your versa so you can restart all over.

And have it on the charger.

I had issues with not getting messages I had to turn on my popups on my message settings.

Hope you get it.

So it's been a few a months. I didn't have time to return the Versa and was no longer able to. I never got the notifications to work for more than a couple of days. I can only manage to get it to sync with my phone sporadically, maybe once a week.

This has been a horrible experience, I've used fitbit since the flex, absolutely adored my blaze. I'm so so upset with fitbit and their handling of this. I've put my device on Kijiji and will never use a fitbit again. The versa just wasn't ready. Nothing but problems for me.

Yes, totally regret purchasing so new in the game.

Purchased less than a week ago, already factory reset to try and fix issues with Bluetooth, location, music controls, and sync.  Why is this still such a headache? I see complaints like this everywhere, this product is a huge swing and a miss from Fitbit, I'll be returning it and waiting for a better offering from another company.  Unbelievable....

This is really sad to see.  I returned mine a long time ago and was just checking to see if it was compatible yet.  Seems it is not, yet I get an update that they have been working on the new charge or have rolled it out.  Why not get this taken care of before you role out new products?

Guess I'm just going to look for a different type of watch/monitor and go from there.  I really liked the looks of the Versa too.  Oh well, on to something else.

While troubleshooting the GN8 and Versa connection, I've had my iPad WiFi and Bluetooth turned on, and when I turned them to off, I had a tiny bit of success, but I could find no consistent pattern.  I thought maybe an incompatibility issue was causing the android and iOS to bang into each other.  There is definitely a relationship here, but not necessarily cause and effect.

Just now, while reading these posts, I went directly to my iPad and turned off the Bluetooth setting.  That worked!

I didn't do anything to my GN8.  [I didn't soft/hard restart anything, charge anything, clear any caches, goof with my SGN8's Bluetooth settings, or anything else].

I went to the fitbit app on my phone, told it to sync, and it synced.  I exited the app on my phone, opened it, and it synced again - all by itself!  It hasn't done that since I can't remember when!

I checked my GN8's Bluetooth to make sure it was paired (it is on the list), but oddly, it doesn't show that it's connected.  The Bluetooth scan says the Versa can't be found. Even though it doesn't seem to be connected, I returned to the app, told the app to sync again - and it did!

All of my cell and app software is up to date as of yesterday (October 23, 2018)

@SunsetRunner Welcome! It's good that the community is growing! thank you for sharing what you did to fix the syncing issues with your Samsung Galaxy Note 8. As you mentioned other bluetooth devices may cause interference with the sync between your Versa and your phone so it is suggested you remove any bluetooth devices nearby.

I'll be around!

I've experimented with various settings to mitigate the gps tracking issue. First of all, everything works - notifications, calls, texts and replies, music controls, watch apps and the fitbit app itself. The only problem I'ver had is gps tracking. That being said I found these settings to work the best:

1. In the fitbit app - under versa settings, everything is switched on - all day syncing, always connected, and the keep alive widget.

2. On phone settings -> connections -> location - location method is set to phone only.

3. On the same location settings panel -> choose Improve accuracy. Wi-fi and bluetooth scanning is turned off.

4. Return to the connections settings-> select More connection settings. Turn off Nearby device scanning.

That's it. So whenever you go for an exercise where you use gps tracking this is best I can find. Turn off wi-fi if you have it on before connecting to gps. In addition I found using the Strava widget to record an activity simultaneously keeps me connected. I don't know why it just does.

Hope this helps all frustrated versa users with a note8.

As a side note - I'm curious to hear from fitbit as why the s6 and s9 series have this feature, bit its a no go on the s7 and s8 series?

Apologies for the second post but I forgot to mention it and I think it's very important. This is addressed to fitbit sales and marketing. Please fix your landing and selling page for your products. No where is it mentioned GPS tracking is available on certain phones. Not even a footnote. It's also an important omission I found in reviews of your product on line. The only way one finds out is after the purchase in a community forum. Unless your strategy was to shift as many Versas at launch to increase your stock value? Still...its a big omission or at worst misleading.

I'm really disappointed with fitbit .  If I'm getting a call on ny note 8 my fibit does not notify me until it has been missed. I can get a text but I can not send the generic ones back.  I called support we went through everything. Every troubleshooting method possible.  Well went and installed it on my husbands old phone s5 and it works perfect....  Yeah so they ended up saying that they are working on an update but they dont know when it will be out. My phone is over a year old. It's not NEW. This is just BS.  On the website it says NOTE8 is compatible with the VERSA.  WELL maybe it is a little bit. I connects but not how it is suppose too! No notifications. I hope this helps anyone that is having this same issue. I'm sooo disappointed in FITBIT.   So many people have samsung note 8and note 9 and this watch will not work correctly with them.  Get it together FItBIT!!

Nope.  I cannot get the Versa to send notifications of texts or emails.

@Carlad Does it sync? When was the last sync?

For now, please do the following:

  1. Turn OFF the Notifications in your Fitbit mobile app and on your Versa, reboot your phone and Versa, and turn the notifications back ON on both devices.
  2. Make sure All-day sync, Always Connected and Keep Alive Widget are enabled in the Fitbit mobile app. Make sure to sync after enabling them.
  3. Make sure the notifications are ON on your Versa. Press and hold the left button to access quick menu. Turn the notifications to ON.
  4. In the Fitbit mobile app, make sure you enabled the notifications.
  5. If your phone is in DND or silent mode, make sure Always vibrate option is enabled in your Fitbit mobile app. Also, it's always a good idea to toggle on/off notifications in the Fitbit mobile app with sync in-between.
  6. Make sure that any app you would like to receive notifications for on your Versa has the push notifications priority set to at least HIGH (this can be done in the Android settings>Notifications). Please see my post here for more info.
  7. Also, please make sure Fitbit mobile app is not being optimized by Android (Android settings>Battery>Optimization>Fitbit needs to be marked as not optimized).

I receive all notifications from my Note to my Versa. Check "App
Notifications". Make sure you checked the correct apps.
