Hi

VERY Interested in the Versa.  Will it have a proper IP rating for swimming?  e.g. IP68

Fitbit have updated their help file on the degree of water resistance:

"All Fitbit trackers and watches are water-resistant, which means they are rain-proof and splash-proof and can stand up to even the sweatiest workout. Fitbit Flex 2, Fitbit Ionic, and Fitbit Versa are water-resistant up to 50 meters. Don't swim or shower with your Fitbit device unless it is noted as water-resistant up to 50 meters"

From what I can see the versa will be water-resistant to 50M, this is the same rating as the fitbit Ionic which is swim proof. So you will be able to track your swims with the Versa

Hi

Yes I came across that too but as I killed 2 Ionics in a swimming pool it would be nice to know if they had actually got this one officially rated.

This Ionic thread - from post 18 onward is quite interesting

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/50M-Water-Resistance-Clarification/td-p/2165322

They claim IPx7 for the Ionic which seems to mean immersion up to 1m for up to 30 mins for the Apple Watch and for Garmins.  Although I may be wrong.

Yes, it appears to have the same rating as the Ionic. I have been swimming in the pool and the ocean since October without any issue. I've even forgotten and worn it in the spa a couple of times. No issues at all!

My Fitbit Blaze stopped working after water splashed over. I won't bet on new Versa be "waterproof", and the company is NOT specifying it will be. So the consumers should be aware of it!

Thanks Steve but that's still not an official IP rating

yes, sorry about that. I have searched all the documentation I can find and cannot find a statement of IP rating.

Despite what you described as the Fitbit Blaze as “water resistant” and
“splash proof”, my Blaze stopped the display after a water splashed on my
wrist. The watch was NOT dipped into water. Considering switching to Apple
3. Like many Fitbit features, but when it comes to “ water resistant “
without an officially recognized rating, I won’t trust any claims short of
it. Too bad I decided to consider Apple Watch over I fell in love with in
the past 5+ years.

@Pokerking it's possible that your Blaze was defective. If you are still within warranty then it's worth contacting customer support as they may replace it for you given that you only splashed it.

I am not sure it is. It’s given me as a gift some 18 months ago. I doubt it
will be covered. After logging over 32 million steps over the last 6-1/2
years and loved using the Fitbit features, It became important for me a
fitness watch with waterproof rating, not just a statement like waterproof
up to 50 meters or “splash-proof” which was not the case for my Blaze.

If you are in Europe you will still be covered. The warranty runs for 24 months from purchase in Europe, 12 months outside Europe.

It was purchased in Minnesota and was given me as a gift about 18 months ago and I live in California. So I guess I am out of luck there. Nonetheless, after 4 different Fitbit watches (one was lost in an overseas trip), over the past 6-1/2 years, I value more diverse activities wearing my wellness watch for swimming in the pool. However without an assurance that comes with new Fitbit watch, I cannot just assume it will be waterproofed. Thank you for your responses.

Thank you for your response. After 6-1/2 years wearing 4 different watches,
out of which one was lost in an overseas trip, and logging for well over 32
million steps, I wanted add a pool swimming onto my exercise. However, with
my 18 month old Blaze displaying blinking data after water was splashed
just brief one second even though it clearly said “slpashproof”, I cannot
take a chance to order the new Versa if not hermically sealed. And there
was no clear indication it will be.

With this in mind, I am ready for a seatsh ovet to Apple 3 for now, and
Apple 4 when announced if it has a decent battery life of 2-1/2 days or so.

@MiniEmma I found an old thread on the ionic board that has a post from a fitbit moderator that the ionic is rated IPX7

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/50M-Water-Resistance-Clarification/td-p/2165322

I know assumptions are dangerous but it's likely that the versa would be the same as the ionic given the wording of their help file

I really appreciate your search and follow up response. I will further
investigate on that aspect. The battery life of 🍎 3 is a major drawback at
this point. Then I love the Fitbit community.

Hi @SteveH That's the same thread I quoted in post 3 and the 7 in IPx7 means immersion up to 1 metre for up to 30 mins.

Oops. Sorry @MiniEmma I should have spotted that.

I believe you can swim with the Versa.  Like the Ionic, it is waterproof for up to 50 meters....which is over 100 feet in the pool.  Something tells me you won't be swimming in that deep of a pool!  lol
