Add Chromebook as a supported device

Is there any way to add Google Chrome books that run Chrome OS to the supported device list. My wife and I would be forever thankful!

This is redundant after everything I just read, but please make it so fitbit will sync on a chromebook.  My cell phone is a tracfone and my main computer is a chrome book. I've been using my work computer to sync by Flex but that isn't really a good idea (not supposed to install personal stuff to it). I love my Flex but really need Chrome access

My computer has died, I only have a Chromebook and no i-gadgets or phones.  I too need to be able to sync my Fitbit HR with my Chromebook!  So frustrating losing data thats helped motivate me to keep at the exercise.  Fitbit pease make this happen!!!  The need is there. Please help us.

It would be awesome to have a chrome OS app that will work with Dashboard! Chromebooks have both Bluetooth and USB ports, so it could be a thing? 🙂

Yes, I agree that it is time to add Google Chromebook as a device you can sync to.  Google Chromebook is a popular computer so I don't see why this has not been done yet.  It's time to hop on board Fitbit.

Fitbit, are you listening? Is anyone out there?

Totally agree, need Fitbit support for Chromebook, please.  My Charge HR is useless to me now my computer is dead. And my friends can't see how I'm doing, so no longer able to cheer or encourage, nor I them, its so disappointing, and I feel I've wasted my money.

How long will we have to wait please????

Looking forward to action from Fitbit for Chromebook syncing.

Many thanks

Unfortunately Fitbit only seems to care about selling Fitbits, and not what
happens afterwards...
This thread has been going on for years, and they still have not done
anything about it.

Yeah, I find it beyond belief that they haven't addressed Chromebooks yet.
At least give us an answer on it -

A) We have something in the works
B) We will never, ever, support Chromebooks
C) We pay no attention to these discussions and we're oblivious to your
needs

Currently the Chrome book runs apps off of the net, and these programs don't have access to USB connected hardware.

the Chromebook does have bluetooth though so it could sync with the app that way.

But is it 4.0 and would the app have access to the Bluetooth. The app.does not run on the tablet but in the web

Please make it possible to use the Fitbit dongle on Chromebooks. This has been an ongoing problem for Chromebook users, and those of us who use Chromebooks have relatively fewer problems than those who use other browsers. This problem has been reported for well over a year now. How much longer before you solve this problem for Chromebook users? I have no problem viewing Fitbit, its graphics, and so on, but I cannot use thedongle.

My understanding is that the web based apps can not get access to the Bluetooth or the USB ports, can anybody confirm or disprove?

See this post it seems this is a chrome OS problem and not Fitbits

Fitbit does not work with Chromsbook OS.  Fitbit does sync with Chrome Browser but not the OS.

Fitbit works and syncs with Chrome Browser on andriod,  etc.  So create a chrome OS app that will work with Dashboard! Chromebooks have both Bluetooth and USB ports, so it can be done!

I would think  only an extension or app would be needed.  So many of us are using Fitbits and other trackers for good health.

Please help.   Thank you for your time.

Fitbit does not sync with the chrome browser, or for that any browser on any device. Syncing is the job of the app or Fitbit connect. The browser simply goes out to fitbit.com and reports what has already been synced to the Fitbit servers. So yes it does work in the browser, it just can't sync,

Adding my vote for the wish for a Chromebook Fitbit app. Chromebooks will soon be syncing with Android, according to the rumor mill, so maybe we'll have something that works then.

This is just my opinion, so please understand that I'm not trying to toss a monkey wrench into the computer: If the reason for Chromebook's not supporting Fitbit and other applications, such as Blurb books, perhaps it is because of the security problems that would ensue. Given the choice between Chromebook's maintaining a stance of fantastic security (so far) without having to pay McAfee and others horrifically high fees for protection and, on the other hand, losing security but having the convenience of the Fitbit dongle on Chromebook, I'd take that security and find other ways of tracking. Apparently, it's not Fibit that's the cause of our woes, but the method in which Chromebook is set up.

I want to look into using the Smart phones for Fitbit. Does anyone have any experience there and could tell me what to do? That sounds promising.

Please make software or some app extension that allows us to sync and update our fitbit from a chromebook.

I'm going to be quite honest, if the chromebook/sync issue remains uncorrected/resolved, I may finally take the leap to a different tracker...  telling me to use my cell phone instead (when you also tell me that the backup for the dodgy phone app is my laptop) is a tired excuse...

I'm so bummed that I'm not able to sync my fitbit with my Chromebook. I've recently noticed that my fitbit won't sync with my phone so I thought this would be a great alternative....not! I guess I'll have to call fitbit in the morning to see if they can resolve this issue.

Since the problem, is not with Fitbit, but with the way Chrome,  a web browser based system works, it is unable to connect to external hardwar, i havent found any step trackers that sync through Chrome OS

Good luck with that. I have found that fitbit does not care one bit about
chrome users.
