Allow multiple devices on the same account (Sense/Versa series, Inspire, Charge & Luxe)

Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

@Webwalker & @myrnaq1,

Why not just get the Charge 2?  Not only is it a different tracker (which would work with a Charge HR and a Charge 2), but it's nicer in every respect and it has interchangeable bands...  In other words, you would be able to have ONE Charge 2 and simply order bands in different colors to accessorize.

I can't believe if this is a popular request, that only 261 people over a 17 month period want it.. Some other requests in a 2 month period have a couple thousand votes.

Start advertising by putting it in sig, let's get the votes so that we get the developers attention.

But then with the new trackers with their replaceable bands, this suggestion had many more votes, there is no need to e two of the same unit. I kind of agree with Fitbit, who would have t pi he a person would want two of the same tracker.

I know that some folks have also mentioned that they always want one charged and they want to make sure that they don't miss a single step as a reason for this feature.

To put in in perspective, it takes a couple of hours to charge (if that) every five days.  Can you really not plug in to charge for two hours on a Monday through Friday workweek?  I'm averaging over 17k steps a day this year (I'm not bragging, I'm just making the point), and when I need to charge my Fitbit, I simply take it off and plug it in.  I'm not distressed about the 40-50 steps I may 'lose' when getting a glass of water while my Fitbit charges.

If you absolutely need to get every single step, then plug in when you're not walking...  That is when you're either showering or driving.  Plugging it in for 10-15 minutes every day will keep the charge indefinitely; I'm politely assuming that you shower regularly.  I've tested this, the battery will last for weeks if not months by charging a little (10-15 minutes) every day.

I enjoy the Fitbit Alta for the purpose of tracking steps and so one, but also because it looks good.  Ordered the gold plated one in addition to my silver one and am really dissapointed to now see that I can only have one synced at the same time.  Assuming each device has a unique ID this should be a relatively simple capability to add.

Because I already have a second charge hr and I'm not selling it for a little of nothing to buy through hr 2. why put more money in their pocket when they can't listen to their customers.

I agree 100 per cent; I also have a second BRAND NEW CHARGE HR that I am NOT going to sell for less than what I paid for it!  I want to be able to use two of the same trackers, different colors.  Actually, it doesn't even matter why!  I have two trackers (both are the CHARGE HR) and I want to be able to alternate them!  While one is charging, I can be wearing the others one and vice versa.  This shouldn't be such an impossible feat for the likes of FitBit!

@carolachase,

If it is indeed a BRAND NEW CHARGE HR, then you don't have to sell it, just return it to the store you got it from...  What am I missing?

I believe all authorized retailers will accept a return within a reasonable time frame.  If you got it recently (during the holiday shopping rush), you'll likely have until the end of January to return the item.

I know that many of you are thinking that Fitbit supports multiple of different trackers and thus supporting multiple of the same tracker is easy.  It's not.  Many elements of the Fitbit user interface rely on a particular model tracker being unique...  For instance:

  • Syncing status - Your Fitbit App/dashboard currently tells you the last time your Charge HR has synced.
  • Your alarms - Your Fitbit App/dashboard allows you to set alarms for your Charge HR.

If you have multiple of each, which Charge HR just synced (you can't distinguish by color, newer trackers have exchangeable bands)?  Which Charge HR did you set your alarm on?  If you set the alarm on one and then wear the other one to bed, then you won't wake up for that important meeting...  etc.

Can these ultimately be solved?  Sure, but it's a lot more complex and involved for, honestly, not a lot of gain.  The main reasons why folks want two of the same trackers are:

  • To accessorize:  Newer trackers (like the Blaze, Charge 2, and Alta) have exchangeable bands (colors and styles).  So instead of getting another Charge HR, just get a Charge 2 and additional bands.
  • To keep one charged all the time:  Just charge it when you're in the shower.  It'll retain its charge indefinitely.  Trust me, I've done it.

So both of these are addressable.  And yes, it actually does matter why...  If you're asking for a feature to be implemented, they should be reasonably sure that your request ultimately addresses your need, if they implemented without knowing what you ultimately want it to address is doing you a disservice.

What surprises me is that there are folks who got the 2nd tracker thinking that it'd work this way (which I can understand), but then they elect to keep it and hound Fitbit for this feature.  Even if I had done the same thing, I would've returned the tracker and then bought it again when the feature was implemented...  I wouldn't have a $100+ tracker sitting at home that I wasn't able to use.

Excellent idea. I already told my son that is what I want for Christmas. But I like the Blaze and the Surge too. So I have to decided which one before the 25 of December. I want one that I can have different colors in the band. Lets see.

@PureEvil  I did not purchase my second Charge HR at FitBit; I purchased it from a person, which is why it is not returnable.  I don't believe that is the issue, however.  The point is, this should be a simple fix for FitBit.

This does feel like an unnessecary restriction. I have two surges, one black and one blue, I would like to switch between them as desired.

I loved my silver Alta and dressed it up with the expensive metal bracelet.  Loved it so much, I bought the version in gold when it was released.  I splurged and bought the gold metal bracelet too!  I thought having both the gold and silver would be perfect as they resemble jewelry.  I was excited to use these to compliment my working wardrobe but still wear my trackers. I can't just switch the metal bracelets using the same alta because the alta itself has either gold or silver accents.  Please fix this flaw - I had no idea that I could not add both to my account because it simply doesn't make sense that you can't.  What is the reason you don't allow this anyway?

I think the ability to have two of the same tracker on one account is especially appropriate for the Alta device.  I have both the gold and silver bracelets/bands and it is such a pain to have to remove one from my account to set up the other.  It is a bad marketing plan to not encourage users to be able to fully utilize the products that are being offered by limiting an account to only one of the same model.

I just bought a new surge blue wristband and wanted to link it to my Fitbit account and also have my black surge so I could wear different colors different days with different clothes. After I logged in to add new device it would not let me add a new surge (only replace) and I think this is the mistake by Fitbit. You guys should allow to the same devices because you sell different colored models. It would Not only make your customers happy but it would make create more opportunity for sales of different colors to people. Please update this if you can in the new Fitbit app that you can allow two of the same devices hooked up to the same account at the same time then I can wear both of my surge alternating days.

It would be really helpful to be able to use multiple FitBits of the same type. I like to keep a spare ChargeHR ready to use when my main one runs out of battery. However switching from one device to another is a pain and causes a big mess with FitBit's sync because it seems one device's activity log overwrites another.

I believe this feature has been requested for almost three years now in multiple suggestions. FitBit, is there any good reason you're preventing this from happening?

Yes this feature has been requested and a search would have found it.

I am returning the charge 2 rose gold I just bought since it won't work side by side with my black charge 2. My old pink charge hr plays nicely in the app with the new charge 2 so imagine my surprise when a second charge 2 just says "replace". I am aware of the ways to kludge around it but I expect more from a leading edge product. I really want one for dressy and one for workout and the ability to always have a fully charged one at the ready as I wear it 24/7. It's marketing 101, if customers are willing to buy more than one you should be supportive!

Since the tracker is the same, there really is no need to buy a complete fitbit in rose,. You should vote on the request to have these bands with frames sold seperately

I purchased a 2nd Fitbit HR in magenta, also not knowing a second, same device cannot be linked to the same account.  Please create a fix to this issue.

I have 2 Charge 2s  and I should be able to have these on my account.  I love my charge 2 and its features that's why I got a second.  So depressed I can't link them both to have a backup while  one is charging..  Please stop the limitation and allow us to have 2 of the same devices linked to one account.

PureEvil

@Castra,

You can't wear your Charge 2 while you're showering.  Why not just charge it while you're in the shower?  Politely assuming you shower regularly, it'll keep its charge indefinitely.

Castra

Huh... I know this and I do shower regularly, thank you for being
concerned about my personal hygiene, but it needs to charge more than the
15 minutes showering takes.

Yes, please add the ability to have two trackers of the same model linked to our accounts.  I have a Charge HR and a Charge 2, which are both linked to my account.  But my Charge HR is beginning to have LED screen separation and probably won't last much longer.  I want to replace it with a 2nd Charge 2, but you presently don't allow two of the same model to be linked.  I don't want to buy a model I don't want.

@PureEvil

You obviously have no need/want of purchasing another device of the same model - this is very clear and we all thank you for your input.  You have continually explained your showering schedule and how it will solve all of the world problems.  Why do you continue to fight every person that posts their request?

It is a simple request, and doesn't matter how you see a way around the request.  If someone wants to buy multiple of the same model, why is it a problem to request a feature that will support that.  FitBit is by far limiting their ability of selling a lot more devices.

The entire premise of this feature request stems from the notice that FitBit will support multiple devices.  This is misleading as they will not support more than one device model at a time on a single account.

I would like to expand more on this, but I must go shower now due to my FitBit being low on battery.
