Allow multiple devices on the same account (Sense/Versa series, Inspire, Charge & Luxe)

Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

It seems that if a tree falls in the Fitbit forest, there is no sound.  At least not one heard by management.

Unfortunately Fitbit has demonstrated time and again that they rrally don't care about their customers and their suggestions.

Note in this entire 2 year old thread there is not one comment from Fitbit themselves, nada, zip, zero.

We are wasting our time wishing for something that will never happen. Sad but true. Absolutely horrible business model if you ask me!

I have a family of 5, three young minors.  I want all of our watches in one account on the app so I don't have to have 5 email addresses and 5 logins. If I wanted to sync everyone's watches at the end of the day to save data, it would take me 30+ minutes.  It should be automatic.  The kids don't have email addresses or phones.  I have two watches in my account at the moment and if my son's watch gets near my phone, it overrides my watch to his steps.  Anyway, please make it so I can have all of the watches in one account and in the app.  P.S. The kids don't have the kids watches because they wanted their heartbeat, so I need multiple HR watches.

Please do this Fitbit. PLEASE! I have the Versa and love it, but I have a little arthritis in my wrists. Bc of it's large design, it has become uncomfortable to wear at night. I want to buy the Inspire HR to continue to monitor my sleep habits and HR still through the night as I have an irregular rhythm, and I thought bc of it's smaller design, it would be more comfortable. I also ABSOLUTELY LOVE using the vibrating alarms to wake me in the morning as it is gentle and has been a godsend to me since loud sudden noises can induce my rhythm to get wacky. Please, I see that a year or more later, and a couple new smartwatches later, this still goes more or less unanswered by the powers that be. I like others have stated, am afraid that if I switch back and forth with the current way, I could end up losing some of my progress. Looking back at how far I have come(40lbs.!) keeps me encouraged to keep going.

You create one account @famof5 you will want to create a family account with each child having their own child account.

All will then be under your email.

I have emailed Fitbit directly and have gotten nowhere! Their only response is that you can’t add an additional device in the app gallery and that there is no knowledge of this changing but hopefully soon! In other words no real answer. I really would like to use both the versa and charge 3. By the way it is possible to have the versa and Alta hr together which I have but wanted an in between size. Fitbit please listen to your loyal customers!

Hi @famof5, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about being able to add multiple Fitbit watches to the same account. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.

To the Moderator (Liz Fitbit),

How can you advocate for us or what can we do to push this along?  At the end of the day, I have 2 devices I plan to return unless I can get a specific ETA on the changes we have all been talking about.  But I sincerely prefer to keep them if I can operate both on the same account.

I would like to be able to use a small lightweight watch during the daytime (such as the Charge) and use a larger watch with GPS (such as the Ionic) during my runs.  I was able to use this with my Charge 2 and Ionic, however after I upgraded to the Charge 3 I could not use them on the same account but had to get a second account, which defeats a lot of the purpose.  I'm not sure if this is a technical issue or just a design flaw of the Charge 3 since it would simply doing the function that already existed in the Charge 2, however I'm not fully aware of the specs.

I can't really see the point of your post/request, if you have trackers worn by different family members how are you going to know which steps were taken by who?  If I wear my Ionic and Charge at the same time, they both clock up steps, but when they are both synced, it only records one of them, or neither.  Much better to have a separate account for each person, then link them as friends, that way each person can see their stats.

It seems we have people asking for more than one tracker on their account, which is what this suggestion is about.

Then we now have several asking for more than one account on one email. Like @famof5 and @tedwyer who could possibly have a family account under one email or use an email modifier. IE:

MyEmail@gmail.com

May be modified as:

MyEmail+Wife@gmail.com

MyEmail+child1@gmail.com

Etc. Any letters may be put between the + and @

@DrRobin using email modifiers will work for those families with only one email address since everyone will be connected to the same email but Fitbit would see the three examples above as 3 separate addresses.

Then some simply need to read Feature Suggestion FAQs again, Fitbit never promised that every suggestion will be implemented.

Would you want to log in and out of the app five times a day, manually, to sync five watches so that your data is saved? Or would it just be nice to be logged into one account at all times so that they just automatically sync when near the phone without overriding someone else's steps?

I'm not a programming expert, but it seems like they could set it up to do both for people. Log each watch individually or log multiple watches to one individual.

P.S. I didn't move my post to this post, someone else did.

So, I did NOT move my post to this post, someone else did. If I set up five different accounts, then I have to manually login and out five times a day to sync each watch. My seven year olds don't have phones or email accounts and my husband doesn't care if his ever syncs. I would like them to just sync when near my phone without overriding someone else's data.

It seems like they could allow all of the watches in one account so they can automatically sync and save data. Then the account user can choose if they want those watches saved individually or multiple watches per individual.

If your husband doesn't care about syncing why are you doing it for him?  Perhaps it is because he is happy to look at the screen at the end of the day and see his steps rather than have it saved for all time on Fitbit's server.

Given that users on here have been waiting for two years to have 2 fitbits owned and used by the same person on one account and you have a fairly simple solution I doubt you will see this added.

Be nice!  Everyone has different needs. This is no place for judging.

There seems to be a lot of pent-up frustration in this thread (for obvious reasons)....

I do see 'famof5's' request as being separate-but-related to the main request on this thread. The main request that we've been begging to get for YEARS now is the ability to have more than one of the current tracker's linked to a single account. For example, I have both a Versa Lite and an Inspire HR...I got them so I would have a nice, full-featured watch most of the time, but could 'downgrade' to the lighter, smaller, cheaper tracker when I'm doing physical activities or doing something where I don't want to risk damage to the more expensive device. Right now, I have to go through an annoying unpair/pair process every time I want to switch...I should be able to just pick up the other watch and go and have everything handled automatically.

'famof5's' request, as I understand it, is for a sort-of setup where there are multiple individuals (each with their own tracker) linked to a single Fitbit login/account. I think for most adult users this would be unnecessary, although I understand that some (like famof5!) would find it useful and I agree with other posters that this is no place for judgement. But I can totally see this being useful and widely-used for kids! A parent might want their kid to have a tracker, but not to have their own phone, email address, and Fitbit account. Fitbit should add that capability for having 'sub-accounts' within a single Fitbit login/account, and each sub-account could have its own tracker (or trackers) and track the steps for each individual person within a single account.

Not sure why Fitbit merged that request into this one since it is clearly distinct (and worthy of consideration on its own). Although I, too, doubt that Fitbit is listening, given how long we've been waiting just to have two trackers linked to one single person with one single account 😞

I hope this thread can stick to the topic of 1 person using multiple devices interchangeably for various purposes. Only steps from 1 tracker are recorded at any given time. This is so we can swap trackers between work and play and such. Let’s keep this thread just for that request.

Thanks

Not wanting to fan the flames, but the more complex you make this request the more chance it is going to keep getting ignored.

Still Fitbit probably moves all posts about multiple trackers in to here as this issue is clearly 'the bin we put everything in to that we don't actually intend doing'.

I did NOT move my post here. Someone else did.

I did NOT put my post in this thread, someone else did. And even ignoring the husband, why shouldn't I have the ability to put my young kids in account, within my app, without having to have multiple email addresses and multiple accounts.

It seems like the solution to all of our issues is similar. Allow multiple watches in the same account and have the option to make the watches logged individually or per individual.

Mom: Watch 1 and Watch 2
Dad: Watch 3
Kid 1: Watch 4
Kid 2: Watch 5
Kid 3: Watch 6

This is not really similar to the original topic.  And this feature request should have its own thread as it's another good idea onto itself.  This would be a family account of sorts where the family can log in using one email and password then sort through different profiles of each family member to keep track or compete in fitness goals.

Great idea but should not get moved to here as this idea is likely to get lost in the shuffle.

Fitbit has already sent a survey out that pertains to more than one tracker per individual but not multiple trackers for multiple individuals.

Until Fitbit can actually address the issue of a single person having the luxury of using 2 of the newer trackers at once, it would be very difficult to do  a family account.

I did have it has a separate post and someone else moved it in here.

Hi, Rich_Laue .  I was responding to a user who wanted a "family" account and suggesting that this thread was for a single user who simply wanted two trackers on thier account. I am not advocating for a family plan or multiple users on one account..

famof5
First Steps

@EdsonFitbit I'm getting a LOT of negative feedback on my request from VERY angry users because you moved my request here and apparently their requests haven't been met over several years.  So, of course, their needs are so much more important.

It seems like we have similar, but different requests.  We ALL want multiple watches in the same account.  But, most of the people in this thread want the same user to be able to use multiple watches (ie. the small watch all day, the larger watch during workouts, and then have all of that data synced to one person).

I want multiple watches synced separately to individual users using one phone/one account/one login.  I don't want to log in and out of 5 accounts just to save/sync data from multiple watches.

So to combine all of our ideas, an account could look like this:

Mom:  Watch A and Watch B

Dad:  Watch C and Watch D

Kid 1:  Watch E

Kid 2:  Watch F

Kid 3:  Watch G

Those people who only want their data in their account could just not add any additional users and keep their multiple accounts.

I own a Versa and recently purchased a Versa 2 since my original Versa no longer holds a charge very long and I wanted a new color in the Versa 2.  I would never have purchased the new one if I knew I could not sync both of them without having to set everything up each time I switched.  This is a huge feature that is missing from the app.
