Allow us to set macronutrient goals and show us full macronutrient breakdowns in app

Macronutrient tracking/goal features seem logical and are sorely needed to make the FitBit app an "all-in-one" fitness/health app. These features exist in other food-tracking apps and it is the only major feature the FitBit app seems to be missing on this side of things. Many people on these forums express frustration about having to a separate app to get proper macronutrient tracking.

The suggestion is broken down into 2 components, which are all basic features that other diet apps provide:

1. Allow us to set what % and/or gram of each macronutrient we want to consume and make it a goal that we can achieve each day. For example, say I want to set my daily intake to be 150g protein, 100g carb, and 50g fat, or I can set it to say I want a 40/40/20 ratio. Then the app can tell me how I'm doing on each of those goals each day.

2. Right now the app only displays % of macronutrients consumed for calories of each type. However, a simple way to view grams of each would be better and compliment reaching calorie/macronutrient goals. Food labels display grams of each macronutrient, so it is only logical that we can track this in the app. It's easy to recognize that you need "25 more grams of protein" and then check a protein bar label and see that it will give you "15 of those 25 grams of protein."

Note to mods: This feature currently does NOT exist so please stop merging this suggestion into the other thread ( https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Track-Macros-in-App-daily-carbs-protein-fat-inta... a different request that has been released, because they are NOT the same or else people wouldn't keep making new threads asking for this feature.

I appreciate the ability to see the %/ratio of calories from carbs, fat, and protein.  However, due to medical conditions, I need to see my carbs and protein in grams as well as ratio.  I can view this on my dashboard via web browser, but it would make my life so much easier if I could see this in the app.  It seems I am not the only one that wants/needs this.  Please add this feature, as well as the ability to log blood glucose, to the app.  These features are WAY more necessary to truly be a health & wellness tracker than "female health" (a.k.a. menstruation) tracking.  I am a woman and I am truly appalled by how much work and detail went into the development of the "female health" tracker when you offer absolutely no ability to track blood glucose, not even manually, and cannot provide protein and carbs in grams.

It would be great if persons can state what they would like their daily macro target to be. There are many apps which already allows you to change your daily protein, fat and carbs intake. It also lets you know if your over your suggested daily Marco consumption. I already enjoy the benefits of the Fitbit community but if the app allows me to do this it would be a great feature.

Hi @Argel, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about having the option to set goals for the daily macros, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is currently under "Reviewed by moderator" status. This helps maintain the Community and the Feature Suggestion board more organized.

Where is this? Macros on the app only shows you how much your macros are for each meal. It doesn’t allow you to state what you’re target daily macros are.

Thanks

Wonder Woman!

Add me to those who would like a feature to set marco targets.  I consistently hear from others "well, just do the math and add it up" the same could be said for setting calorie targets, but that feature is a staple of all food trackers.  Based on height, weight, activity = calorie target...we'd like to see based on height, weight, activity = macro target.

this may be challenging given the current app increases calories for the day based on your activity for that day.  Macros doesn't usually work that way...it's just your target regards less of the activity level, because that it built into your macro target.  Perhaps a toggle option between calorie vs macro targets instead of both?

It would be helpful if the nutritional part could have a section for amount of daily salt intake. This would be good for many health conditions who need to limit sodium like heart failure, and those like me who need to consume high levels of sodium to help combat symptoms of POTS. It is not easy to log 2 different times, once for Fitbit and again on paper for sodium levels.

Hi @DPT2021UTHealth, this is a good idea. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Micro nutrients are key to good health.  If this is your model, please include these as standard support in your FitBit app.  It is very important to understand these values to maintain optimal health and for communication with physicians.  I used to have this capability when I had the advanced software for my FitBit One.  It seems FitBit One is not supported by your current version of the advanced software, which I would certainly buy if available for the FitBit One.  I tried your free 7 day trial only to find out it did not work.  Please support this request of so many of your loyal users.  My Fitness Pal app supports this information.  Your app should also.

Customizing Macros in grams as well as ratios would be very beneficial and convenient as so many people are tracking macros for various reasons and dietary needs.  Currently the macro breakdown seems to be a blanket formula based on a caloric goal.  This makes the macros very irrelevant and requires the user to implement a second app such as Cronometer.  It would be nice to see macro intake as well as remaining daily macros.

Two years later, how is this not implemented yet? Macros are probably THE most important aspect of a diet alongside overall caloric intake. It would be really great to enter those alongside the custom caloric intake. Has Fitbit been slacking on community suggestions in the past couple of years? I see a lot of posts from around 2018 with really good ideas that should be integral to the app.

Exactly. I'm shocked I am still getting these messages 2 years later and
unimpressed that macro breakdowns hasn't already been added.

Is there another fitness / health / heart tracker with an interface that would allow us to set and track macro goals?

Yes. MyfitnessPal does.

I would love it if we could track our Macro's directly in the app. For example, if my goals are: 1275 cal, 105 Protein, 123 Carbs, 40 Fats, I want the ability to see in the app what's remaining of each of the categories for me to eat during the day rather than having to do the math every time.

Fitbit already has all the data so why not add in exactly how many grams of protein, fat and cards I should be aiming for each day and how many still to go? Eg if I wish to lose fat and gain muscle use TDEE -500, then calculate protein needed in grams by weight x 1.8 (as I'm active). FAT = TDEE x 35% /9 in grams and Carbs is the remainder.

Hi @Leight, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to allow us to set macronutrient goals on the Fitbit app. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about it here. I hope to see you around.

Instead of (-1000) or (-500) daily calories burned as a goal for intake, let us choose a percent of our burned calories as an intake goal! (i.e. if I burn 2500 calories daily, let me select an 80% modifier, so I'm "allowed" 2000 calories per day of eating)

Macro goals and tracking are desperately needed** I am actually shocked that I can get a 2-page breakdown on my sleep, but VERY minimal options for calorie goals and macro needs..??? Macro goals should be a "basic" on a device like this and I should aldo be able to manually set my caloric intake.

Ignore my typo... that should say "I should ALSO be able..."

I work with a PT who provides me with my calorie and macro goals. While I'm able to set my calorie limit manually, it would be great to also be able to set my macros, so I can make sure I'm eating the right amount according to the limit I have been given.
