Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in. 

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

Thanks guys. It has been very positive support from the community so far. I particularly like the idea of being able to choose the metrics for the challenge by Xarles. 

Let's hope Fitbit will take this idea into account & make the challenges more diverse & more fun.

I just realised I put Step Challenges but I meant floors climbed challenges, seeing as that is something measured in a day. Active exercise done in a day would be nice too.

It is something that has been requested for sometime by most of the fitbit users, and now i am here requesting for the same. having a calorie challenge is great help and motivate to take challenges. I participate in the current challenges and end up on lossing side as my activities are mostly from exercises and cycling. the calorie bburnt count is high but the verage steps are low.

 

Would be great if calorie challenge can be brought in.

Now we can challange on the amount of steps only. But lately I use my fitbit to tracks other activities not just the steps. And I focus more on the Calories Burned. So, I would love if we could have more options to select when we setup the challange.

 

- Challenge on Distance .. how far we could walk/run

 

- Challenge on Calories Burned .. how much we could burn

 

- Challenge on Floor Climb .. how high we could climb the floor

 

- etc.. 

 

Additionally, it would be more fair to everybody if we use the real archivement results for every challenges, not the percentage of each person goal.

Please add water to your Challenges. The majority of this nation is dehydrated and don't know it!
I'm more guilty of not drinking water than I am walking. If Fitbit had increased my physical activity as it has, I wonder what a Water Challenge could do! Thanks for the consideration. FitBit Alta

I was wondering if it's possible to create some new challenges to the existing 4 available.
A team challenge would be great, 2 teams of equal participants battling it out in one of the existing formats.
Also the versatility of choosing how long you want a challenge to go for, for example if you had a long weekend you could make the weekend warrior a 3 day event.
A 7 day challenge would also be great. Suitable for those who challenge friends in other parts of the world.
While the current challenges are good they can get a bit repetitive, some new ones would keep it interesting. Cheers

Hi there, I wrote support about this idea and thankfully I was pointed in this direction, I just hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears. While I am an active person, I also have a sedentary job, so the biggest part of my day is spent sitting. On Monday I sprained my ankle and I felt bad that I was into a weekly steps challenge since i couldn't do much walking, however I still went to the gym almost every day of the week and did strength training. It would be awesome if we had some kind of Weekly workouts challenge or most calories burned, whatever you guys see fit. But the calories burned is not so realistic based on the fact that heavier ppl like myself burn more calories than others with less body fat so maybe a %Body fat lost challenge that would ultimately measure one's weight? Don't know. ..just an idea...but I'm unhappy with the step one 😯

A greater variety of challenges would be greatly appreciated. Not everyone burns all their calories via steps. I'm finding my self at a loss (literally) doing the challenges. While it is very motivating, I would like to be able to compete in other ways, like calories burned. Not all of my exercise is via walkin or running, and I'm not necessarily any less active than those whose exercise is done that way. When it comes to weight loss and fitness, caloric burn is far more important than steps taken anyway.

I totally agree with this idea and would like to add Active minutes to the list of challenges as well. It will be great if Fitbit can implement these ideas on challenges.

I am puzzled as to why Fitbit continues to ignore consumers' request. 
All it takes is for a competitive company to start offering all the challenges required and Fitbits would turn to Filthbits!

Add stair challenges so you can compete with friends to do the most stairs in a day, instead of just competing with your step count

I would love to have a weekly water challenge with friends. I feel this would help motivate people to drink the amount of water each day if they are competing with friends.

Some of us are avid climbers/hikers. Although I may only have 22K steps, I could have climbed a whopping 500 floors on some high peaks in the ADKs!! As an avid hiker I would really love to see some floor challengers or a possible mountain climber challenge.

I would like to have the opportunity to have challenges for the amount of sleep you have. Many of my friends have trouble sleeping and it would be a great way to competitively get them to sleep.

I will be switching to another product after three years and there are not any challenges that are added for calories, or active minutes , steps only benefit ealkers / runners
