Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in.

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

Friends often want to sync with me to compare/compete against weekly steps. I decline these requests with quite a few friends as due to being desk based for 7 hours a day I am at an unfair disadvantage compare with those friends who are mobile throughout the day. They understand and accept why i decline there request but we all agree that it would be advantageous and fair if we coukd compare/compete work outs/weight training and or calories burnt.  Hope this can be considered for future developments .

4 years and these folks are still developing a petty feature. I don't think fitbit is serious about their user base. Fitbit 3.0 os was a joke to be called as a new version. I guess they have admitted their loss to Samsung.

Would love this! Looking forward to this addition!

I wish we could challenge each other to exercise 3 - 5 days a week.

Right now we can challenge friends to the Workweek Hustle, I want to be able to challenge people to exercise 3 times a week. Whether it is any exercise, or only device detected exercises, it would be great to challenge friends who live far away to exercise with you. And making it a challenge to see who could beat you and do 5 days of detectable exercise each week would be a lot of fun.

Water consumption challenge... yes please!!

I wholeheartedly agree with this suggestion and I think it would promote better health. Steps alone aren’t getting people to their goals!

Add challenges for things other than steps, like amount of time active.  Like many people, I have a fairly sedentary job, so sometimes it's hard to get a lot of steps in.  Most of my activity comes from a boxing/HIIT, but there are no group challenges for people who go to classes like HIIT, Spin, Judo, or other classes.

Fitbit hasn’t introduced new challenges in awhile and I’m quite bored with the existing ones, especially as someone who mainly purchased my Blaze to track fitness, not just steps. I do like the workout tracking feature and seeing the amount of minutes I spend in Peak. I’d love for there to be challenges around workouts and also around Peak zones. Example: Challenge can be to workout 3x a week for 4 weeks straight; and or to have X minutes in Peak zone per workout. Something like that! The step stuff is not motivating enough for me. I would like to upgrade to a Versa but want to see that Fitbit works on being more creative with its software before I invest in new hardware.

Hi @BlazeRunner, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Remember to add your vote.

Literally no point. Have been ignoring the suggestion for years.

@Carlos35 didnt realize this suggestion was already voted for by so many and nothing has been done yet. Good to know. Between this plus no Spotify syncing, I did some more in-depth research with other fitness wearables and decided that when my Blaze dies I will be getting the Garmin Vivoactive 3 with music! It has way more functionality, has built in GPS, and allows for Spotify!

I can no longer vote for Posts?!!!  I want to vote for Blazerunners logic, buy a Garmin.

Fitbit ignore almost 3000 users (of the ones who complained) over a small upgrade... but they have time to remove voting from posts.  Great to see where their priorities are.

If anyone at Fitbit in marketing or general business wants to chat to me, I'm really curious what the logic is behind their stubborn/arrogance of ignoring this many users for so long.  Has the Fitbit marketing team identified on average people only ever buy 1 fitbit so they don't care about current users and only want non fitbit users to become users?

I'd love to know the logic whatever it is?  Someone has made an active choice not to do this, so I really am curious of their rationale.

I just bought a Fitbit, out of interest, what software has changed/been added as a result of these forums?

It's a great shame to see that this idea was raised 5 years ago and nothing has been done.

It seems like an absolute no brainer - if you are calculating active minutes why can't you challenge others - I can thrash people on steps but they could be doing huge erg sessions 5 days a week and then go to a desk job.

At the moment the only challenge I have is myself.

I can tell you the answer. Nothing, not a single thing has changed. Hope that helps.

Does anyone from the company ever post in here?

No, no they do not. They are probably on apple forums or busy designing new watches.

Some times they pretend to care and say feedback is wanted and they are looking into it. (been looking for 5 years... don't think they have foudn anything).

My fitbit battery is getting "tired" after two years, not sure which brand to move to.

I will be getting a Garmin Fenix because I want the GPS and I've had great
experience with Garmin kit on my bikes. It will be a celebration gift to
myself when I finish my PhD!

Pricey but very nice.

Fitbit is nice for the monitoring but its a pity the software / apps /
challenges etc is so step focussed. I guess its ok if you're massively
overweight/unfit and just need to get moving but its kind of meaningless as
an actual athletic metric.

I agree. There seems to be a lot of people requesting additional
challenges, currently there is a daily, week day, week end and it is only
based on steps. What's the magic number of people requesting to have
additional challenges - challenges based on activity minutes, or challenges
that last an entire week...etc.

apparently more than thousands of people over more than half a decade. 😞

also, I've owned multiple generations of Fitbits and never had one last
more than 2 years without dying. it sure SOUNDS like Fitbit is just
coasting and will be passed by Apple/Android devices soon unless they
decide they give a **ahem** about their customers...

I've already asked, they dont know or care to share this number.

How not to do customer engagement - pretend by creating a forum system -
and then not engage with it at all. Maybe they don't care that they won't
get repeat business.

I love the challenges feature! It's a great way to get involved with friends. I think it would be great to add in more options for challenges, like drinking water. Obviously, there might be people tied for first place, but the point is to have the community accountability.

I sent an email to fitbit about the lack a challenges and they just referred me back to this forum. its hard to take them seriously when I get emails about new products yet they haven't addressed the people in this forum. I like my fitbit, help me enjoy it more and add these simple changes. you already have the data this is a stupidly easy fix.
