Charge 4 screen brightness boost

For direct sunlight situations, add an ability to boost screen brightness temporarily, i.e. one-time event, through an easy to access while exercising method e.g. through a screen tap/scroll sequence. Enable the user to determine the preferred method in the Settings on the Charge 4 device.

The annoying thing is the lack of a comment from Fitbit. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

so, I’m going to give the charge 4 2nd chance, after putting it back in its box after wearing it for about 3 days back in may (& my Fitbit surge not having much battery life anymore!) I really hope I’m not still as disappointed as I was earlier this year.

will there still be the same problems of not seeing the screen when I’m out running?

Sorry to give you the bad news mate but it's still not fit for purpose.
Unless it's overcast it's not even fit to be called a watch

I'm a daily cyclist and agree very much that more brightness is needed for the Charge 4 when outside during the day. To make the situation worse, touch the screen with a sweaty finger and it's over - nothing can be read on the screen in the sunlight. It's like a "blur" filter on top of the screen. More brightness to power through a dirty screen would be awesome.

Impossible to see when outside even on a cloudy day. Actually useless. May need to return - please tell me an update can be made???

I thought the problem was a Charge 4 issue. It had been fine for the first month or so, now the screen is difficult to see even in dimmer lighting and impossible in bright light. This is my second charge 4 and I am not happy. Being able to check the time while outdoors is rather important to me.

Hi,
Let me start by saying that I love my Charge 4, but as with a lot of other Charge 4 users I have an issue with the lack of screen brightness, especially in daylight. Could this please be addressed and make it brighter like my trusty Charge 2. Would also be nice if the option to reorder the tiles was available. Thanks Alan

But despite many many complaints they don't respond

It is truly unfortunate that the Charge 4 is meant for indoor use or when outside is dark.  I have been warning people about this problem.

It was at a price point that if I’m going to want features It had and the ability to read it, I will move up and pay a little  more.   Luckily the store will take it back but unfortunately that next watch is not a Fitbit.

My wife recently bought me a Charge 4 to replace my Fitbit Surge. I am an avid runner and biker, and my Surge had served me well for years until it died of old age. The one feature that I always took for granted is that is was always easy to read outdoors, regardless of how bright the sun was.

That is not the case with the Charge 4. This device totally blacks out when outdoors, even on a partly cloudy day. This renders this tracker FUNCTIONALLY USLESS! Did the design engineers ever take this device outdoors before they put it on the market!!??. Did they think that people were going to run and bike in their living rooms!!?? It's hard to understand how Fitbit could market a product that simply doesn't function in the environment in which it is used.

FB Charge 4 is useless outside, even when the brightness in the settings is set to normal, which is the highest it can be set to. Is there a way to override this setting ? I realize it will use more power and need to be charged more often.

The fact that you cannot see the screen on a Charge 4 while outdoors is ludicrous. Did any of the design engineers try to use this device outdoors, where it is almost always used? This device is functionally useless. Hard to believe a reputable company would put a mostly worthless product like this on the market.

I would like this as a ADA request for those of us who are partial blind or have vision restrictions.  Being in the sunlight with my kids is key to having fun. I need to wear strong sunglasses outside.  I would love the boost or a perm setting for when I am in the office and in meetings and the room is set to dark.

Being able to adjust the font and the brightness on the Charge 4 for those of us with Disabilities or Vision problems. I am legally blind. I upgraded to the Charge 4 after my 3 became like a barely there light bulb. I would love to be able to change the size of the notifications from the current size, with a brighter setting for outdoor use.

And have obviously no desire to address the problem not comment on this

The lack of proper comment from Fitbit is frustrating, clearly this is an issue that a lot of people are suffering from. I bought mine off amazon ... guess what - I’ll be writing a review that talks about this - and it will put people off purchasing this.

I have this problem on my Charge 3. I was hoping the Charge 4 didn't have a screen brightness problem.. Reading this thread doesn't give me a lot of confidence that it's fixed.

What a great suggestion about a temporary boost option!  Something like when it recognizes an exercise it will automatically double, triple the intensity until one finishes that workout.  Simply.  Easy.  Much appreciated.

I've got a brand new charge 4 and I'm gutted the screen is so dark. My husband has just bought the ionic and the screen quality and brightness is so much better. On my phone, I just can't read it when I'm outside, especially in the sunshine. You feel an idiot to stop, shade your fitbit and squint to try and work out why it was bleeping or how far you've gone. Having to stop to look at the fitbit while you fail to read, is the opposite of encouraging you to keep going... It feels like I bought a really outdated watch, rather than a brand new, latest technology watch. Please increase the brightness and let us see our achievements, while we're outside achieving them!

I agree 100%! Very disappointing indeed. I understand we'll get ding a
bit on battery life but include a setting so the user can decide whether
that would be worth it to him/her.

I cannot believe we’re asked to upvote the screen brightness level issue in the hope that the Fitbit developers fix it.  Surely some of them need to put on a charge 4 and try and run around the block a few times at which point they’ll get as pissed off as I do wearing this thing and hopefully fix it.

Thank you for your comment, they should also try it while trying out tri focal contact lenses.

With all that is going on in the world of being aware of disabilities I was hoping FItbit would support this suggestion.
