Fitbit recipes

Would be a great feature if Fitbit releases recipes and that these recipes we were in the app so if you make a meal, you can search the name of the meal when tracking food to more accurately track what you're eating. Ie if I made a chicken risotto for tea, typed it in to track food and it had "chicken risotto Fitbit". All ingredients ect are automatically updated instead of having to log individual ingredient

My Charge HR has many abilities. I'd like to be able to write "recipes" using those abilities to do anything I can think of. For example:

1. Charge HR knows when I'm sleeping.

2. Charge HR knows when I'm restless or awake.

3. Charge HR can tell time and has an alarm.

Therefore, I should be able to write a recipe that wakes me up at the best part of my sleep cycle within a certain time period, e.g.

if ( I am currently asleep ) &
if ( time is between 7am and 8am ) &
if ( FitBit has detected restlessness in the last 5 minutes )
then {
  sound alarm
}

(this is similar to what the SleepCycle app does)

Another example: since Charge HR doesn't have Reminder to Move, I could write my own like this:

if ( last time active >= 90 minutes )
then {
sound alarm
}

There are a million cool features that users can think up and impliment without the need for FitBit programmers. Each FitBit would just need to show a different list of features, e.g. the Alta won't have Heartrate available to it as an ingredient in the recipe.

Please include a recipe builder functionality within the food plan with the option to save your own recipes. Surely this is an obvious requirement within the food plan? Why should I have to go to a separate app outside fitbit to calculate then log in fitbit?

Desperately needed and way overdue....

seems like a simple fix to the dashboard, they already have a meal builder, just add a function to divide by x (number of portions). This was the feedback I got through chat "Thanks for the suggestion and feedback about the food log on the dashboard. As we care a lot and like to improve our features based on our clients necessities, I will forward this information so they can take it on consideration. However I can not assure you that it will be released on the next actualization on the dashboard."

Fitbit added the ability to create meals... it's a really great idea, but i do wish they'd expand on it.

Recipies would be a more powerful addition - often, if you prepare a recipie, you can get the nutrition stats for each of the ingredients. You can then stick them all into a spreadsheet and add them up to get the nutrition stats for the entire recipie/dish, then divide them by the proposed portion size to get the 'meal' totals. The problem though is that this is a huge PITA and there's no flexibility... you can't chagne the portion size on 'meals', so if you eat 1.5 of your normal portion, you're up-the-creak.

Just a though.

like so many others, I cook

it would be great to be able to input recipes, with how many portions it serves

otherwise, tracking food on Fitbit is useless

Agreed!  Recipes can be difficult to figure out how much of each ingredient is in each portion.  If you try to log it as a meal, it's also a pain to have to adjust the portion of each ingredient up and down if you eat more or less than a single serving.

Hi Fitbit Fam - I love the community feature and seeing users share information to help stay fit. If Fitbit also shared some healthy recipes with the community, I believe it would be a plus. I'm not sure if this is available in Premium but it would be nice to get a daily or weekly healthy recipe suggestion from Fitbit. Thanks for listening!

I would love it if there was a way to input ingredients and serving size of a recipe and have it generate nutritional data. Myfitnesspal has this this feature but I would love to see it on my fitbit app as well!

I've actually stopped using the calorie tracker because it was too hard inputing the ingredients every time I wanted to log a home-cooked meal. This would be super useful to help encourage people to eat home-cooked instead of packaged foods and support their goals!

Yes! Livestrong has this feature and it's great. You enter ingredients, yield and serving size. You can even share with other users.

I used to use an app to enter my food in, in addition to Fitbit. I've slowly been transferring over just to Fitbit (so I don't have a multitude of apps on my phone), and I am really missing the ability to create my own recipe (I.e. Put in all the foods and then say how many servings it makes so that I can figure out how many calories I just consumed). It's really difficult to do this on the Fitbit app (near impossible actually), and I think it would be extremely beneficial.

YES! I often make smoothies and salads with the same base, so it'd be great to be able to save my sbase recipe instead of putting in every single ingredient. I'd also like to be able to star my favorites instead of having to rescan barcodes, etc.

Hi there!

I find that it is quite difficult to track my food when it's homemade, if we could save a set of ingredients, say when you enter a 'snack' or 'lunch' for example, have a button at the bottom of the page that would enable you to save all items from the time period in that list to a nameable recipe under Custom Food, I think it could potentially be a small change that would make a huge difference for a lot of us.

Thanks for taking the time to look, and otherwise I have been so so happy with the fitbit charge 2 and the software, it's really been a huge help.

yes, I used to use myfitnesspal to make recipes, but it just crashed on my
phone, so I stopped using it. I've tried opening separate calorie
calculaor websites to attempt to figure out how many calories are in a
serving of a recipe, but I hate only putting in the calories w/ no macros.

I think i posted this over a year ago. Ive already moved on to a new
platform that provides that today. My fitbits kept breaking and no longer
covered by warranty. Sorry it was fun while it lasted. A more stable watch
and a better app and i would have stayed.

Custom food tab should allow users to select food items individually, then save them as a meal or snack

for instance, i have many varieties of avocado toast recipes. I want to select the individual ingredients & then save each as a custom food.

Fit bit should have a (Fitbit Recipes) on the dashboard with hints and tips, goals, and information about foods  such as (Amino acids, proteins, calories, Vitamins, etc handy maybe even team up with Web Md and Taste Foods so gain more customers. This will attract more sales and consumers. Any feed back will be amazing

Hi @Ls90! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your idea of having a recipes section in the Fitbit app. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post here. Don’t forget to post a comment and click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

In line with this, let me suggest to check our Fitbit blog, Discussion board and the Community feed groups in the Fitbit app where you can find recipes and tips from others.

Would really like to see a place to enter notes about day etc., also time food was eaten other than the general ones listed.  Also a place to enter recipes so they are stored in fitbit app to be used over and over.   Thank you for your time
