AppleWatch has every single feature, it’s just a little bigger….. there’s an entire app store if there were a feature you’re missing. And if there weren’t an idle alert app, I’d code one. It’s not rocket science. The only reason it’s not on Fitbit is planned obsolescence. The FitBitHR has an arm Cortex 3 processor there’s literally millions of individuals that could write this code. There’s no technical reason why they haven’t added this feature beyond wanting you to have to buy the next one because this one is good but not quite good enough.
Actually they don't have everything, but good luck to you. You seemed way too argumentative. Jim Feldesman O (212) 626-2606 C (914) 552-2330 Jsf518@gmail.com Sent from my iPhone
New to Fitbit - got a HR Charge for bday. After setting up the basic functionality the first alert / reminder I wanted to setup was to notify me when I've been inactive for awhile. Needless to say I was surprised to see the ability to do this did not exist. So yes PLEASE add this feature in. It is much needed and desired.
Return it. People have been asking for this for 3 years. They'll put it on the next model even though the current hardware would supports it. If you calculate that they want $50 annually for the website companion software you'll realize that the fruit watch is a much better deal.
I too would love this feature. I recently had someone brag about how his apple watch does this and it made me wonder why Fitbit doesn't yet have this feature.
I'm absolutely blown away that they won't implement this. This was almost a deal breaker for me. At least a good reason why not would show that they listen to their buyers.
I haven't read through all 760+ comments, but the first 20 or so that I did go through all had the same theme; provide an idle alert so that you are reminded to be more active.
Personally, I'd rather have the option to turn off the activity tracker while I am sitting and easily turn it on when I stand.
I noticed that my Surge tracked me "walking" 2.68 miles yesterday. However, I sat at my desk for most of the day during the tracking time. Obviously, my arm movements were being tracked as steps. This obviously provides a very inaccurate ACTUAL activity assessment.
I would use a vibration as a reminder that you're in non-tracking mode when sitting so that you know to turn activity tracking back on when you get up.
Love this idea! It would be great if we could define the inactivity period (ie, I would set it to receive an alarm after 30 minutes of inactivity) that would be great! If we could also set the 'active' period for this feature it would be great.
This feature has been in request for 3 years and is already on every fitness tracker except for Fitbit. There is no hardware limitation for this, so this is simply a matter of fitbit deciding not to include the feature so that you feel the need to buy the next model.
I agree, it was a toss up for me with jawbone and apple for the inactivity/idle alarm. If Fitbit indeed chooses to do it on a new version, I will NOT buy it out of principle. I'll buy an apple watch at that point. The charge hr is too expensive to hold out on important health tracker options.
Strongly agree--the feature I want most is idle alerts, with the ability to set a schedule in which they would be active, so that you can take a nap or work and sleep at unusual times, etc.
YES!!! I didn't buy the fitbit for this very reason!!! (I received my current one in a raffle, so I'll continue using it, but only because it was free). I was hoping that things might have changed as I might have considered purchasing one for a family member, but nope.
But I guess it's not happening since these comments date back years . . . .
