For a device claiming to be a fitness aid,I'm flabbergasted that Fitbit does not have an idle alert. Idle alert is so intimate it incorporates the device into my work day. Having used a competitors product for two years I can say the idle alert has changed my life. I set it to notify me every 15 minutes between 8 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday. Please, please, please add this feature. I do not want to be without it.
I can't believe that fitbit does not have an idle/inactivity alert. Considering the objectives of Fitbit activity tracker, such feature is extremely important. And it seems very easy to implement. I just bought a Surge and I am considering returning it because of the lack of an idle alarm.
When are you going to listen to your customers and add this feature? The original post is from over 2 years ago. When I bought my surge I figured this was standard at this point since every other brand has a similar feature. I'm seriously considering taking my money elsewhere.
As Mamlmarc said, this was first requested over two years ago (December 2013). Why don't you either implement the feature or decline the request or at least let us know you are progressing toward a solution? Leaving requests as "under consideration" for two years is rude.
I was told by the salesperson that the Fitbit Charge HR's activity tracker capabilities were better than the Apple Watch since, after all, that was what Fitbit was exclusively designed to do. So I bought it thinking that it MUST, OF COURSE, have the most simple and necessary of alarms -- an idle alert. But Noooo. Obviously, since this much needed feature has been "under consideration" for over 2 years, Fitbit is not seriously considering it. Therefore, the Fitbit is going back and an alternative tracker is "under consideration."
Update: I exchanged the Charge HR for the Garmin VivoSmart. Thanks Shiras!
I have a Fitbit Flex and was planning to buy the Charge HR but after seeing that it does not have this feature, I am seriously considering getting the Jawbone instead.
@shirazs Look at the Garmin Vivosmart HR. It has everything the Charge HR has + Idle Alert aka "Move Bar", is fully water resistant, and has a better screen. Same price.
The Fitbit web / mobile app software used to be a lot better than Garmin's but not anymore.
The garmin is your best bet if you don't want a smart watch. The jawbone doesn't have a very accurate heart rate monitor. The garmin is equal with the HR and AppleWatch for HR.
Has Fitbit "officially" responded to this feature request (beyond marking it as "under cosideration")? Has Fitbit satisfactorily reacted in the past to other requests?
Since this is my first Fitbit, I am just trying to determine how responsive the company is to users' requests. But this just looks bad. It's more than 2 years since the idle alarm was requested.
In a response to another feature request, they said "At Fitbit, our mission is to help people lead healthier, more active lives". So I cannot understand why such an important feature for their mission has not been implemented after 2 years it was requested. And despite of being the most voted feature request !!!. And a rather easy to implement. if(idle longer than some threshold) {trigger alarm!}
I emailed about it last night and got this sorta generic response. Hi Debbie, Thank you for getting back to us. We appreciate your feedback regarding with the upgrade policy. Rest assured that we'll improving our products and services as soon as possible. Thank you for being Fitbit customer. Please let us know if you have any questions. Sincerely, Jonalee P. and the Fitbit Team
Are you even watching this thread? I see you edited it in August so you must be somewhat aware of it. Do you have any concern at all for the people who buy Fitbits and therefore pay your salary?
Another vote for the idle alarm! This is what I wanted in the Jawbone Up but opted for the FitBit. Would love an idle reminder for when I am sitting in my cube too long!
My concern (other than the lack of response from fitbit) is the amount of recommendations for other products.People will listen and act. Sent from Samsung tablet
All the responses are generic. I don't understand how a company can ignore its customers. Where is a corp response of a yes, no , never, or when the new one comes out. time frame something. hello? Remember Blackberry? yeah no really around now. that's how fit bit will be.
