Idle Alert

I would love to have an "Idle Alert" feature added where the device would vibrate if you've been idle for a certain length of time.

Yes!! I had one on my jaw bone and now I'm disappointed to see that it's
not on my fitbit, which is way more advanced. It's really missing this
feature badly!

sad to see this request was originally posted nearly 18 months ago - and still it's not been implemented. this, as well as lots of other under consideration points that have been in-limbo, is one of the reasons i've returned my Charge HR for a refund. it just doesn't do what i need it to do.

I'm so dissapointed with Fitbit - they seem to take so long to sort stuff out - I've ended up buying a Jawbone UP 24 just to use the Idle Alert!!!!

I have my Charge HR on one wrist and my UP 24 on the other.

But thinking about getting the UP3 when it comes to the UK.

This is actually a KEY feature that I wanted and I almost purchased a different device because the other device does this, but I ended up with the Charge HR, which I mostly really like, because my doctors and I decided I need something that monitors basic heart rate — if not for the HR aspect of my Charge HR, I actually would have purchased the other device. As it is now, I have set my smartphone to remind me by an alarm that goes off every hour between the hours of 9am and 7pm to get up and move at least once every hour, but it doesn't know if I have just finished a walk or not since it is not tracking my movement. Having the option to log on to my FitBit Dashboard and set the frequency with which my wrist device vibrates to remind me to move would be a very desirable feature and would have made me close to 100% satisfied with the features on my FitBit device. This seems like it would be a relatively simple addition given that the alarm feature already exists and the FitBit tracking device knows whether I am moving or not.

I just got the Fitbit after having a Jawbone for a year and I already really miss this feature. Between the lack of an inactivity alarm and the social feed the Up has, if a year from now they finally have the Up3 or 4 going I will probably switch back.

Still no update regarding this feature.  I have multiple alarms set up but I'd much rather an inactivity vibration.

The lack of response (this issue has been raised over 18 months ago)
clearly shows that FitBit doesn't care about its customer feedback (and/or
request for features). I really wonder whey they bother having the
feedback forum in the first place...

Many other activity trackers have this feature, it's a real shame and disappointment that Fitbit doesn't. I too vote for this feature to be added even to already existing trackers (don't wait to put out a new model to add this necessary feature please!)

Jawbone Up and Garmin Vivosmart both have idle alarms after prolonged inactivity. Please update Charge HR, Charge, and Surge firmware to support a similar feature.

There needs to be more options to set reminders and notifications that set off the silent vibrate alarm.

Things like being idle for an hour, drink more water if non logged, need more steps to meet goal etc. the list can go on.

There are only 8 alarms available to be set so something needs adding and soon for reminders.

I sit at a computer all day and need prompts to get up and move.

Another vote for this feature.

C'mon fitbit, this is an easy fix. Just make it vibrate and pop a message on the app if you've been idle for X minutes. Have a default that can be changed in settings.

This an a smart sleep tracker are easy fixes to compete with jawbone. People hate that wearable, but their app is winning them points.

I've been thinking that there are two FitBit groups on Twitter. They're
live people. I've messaged them but they just gave me the company line.
Maybe if more of us reach out to them we'll get more action. They are
@Fitbit and @FitbutSupport.

Might be worth a try!

I thought the Charge HR had this function already. Opps! Yes, please add! I have a desk job and remembering to get away from my desk is always a challenge.

I have to BUMP this post! I would love to have an inactivity feature. I think I'm going to end up buying a Fitbit Charge +HR and I'd love for it to tell me to get my butt up from my desk and move around for a few minutes. Even if it's only to grab a water refill or take a quick lap around my department. Come on Fitbit- you're already winning top spots with the bloggers, vloggers and journalists.... Let's give them another reason to keep you at the top of their lists.

I like that it keeps me motivated and moving.  I do not like the clasp on the fitbit.  It has come undone several times and have had to look all over for it. I tried my second on that came with it and have the same problem.  Also I have been working at a job where you use alot of arm movements and may do the same thing in one place for several hours.  It calculates that and when you are biking or grocery shopping and pushing a cart it will not record steps you are acutally taking.  My suggestion is some kind of ankle bracelet with a good clasp.  Any suggestions

Yes, it would be great to get a vibrate reminder on the Charge etc. after 90 minutes of no significant movement (unless asleep). Should not be that hard to program.
