I set it up the free version a couple of days ago, it worked for me - have a distant challenge going with a friend that appears to be working ok. After granting the Stridekick app access to Fitbit info.
I think it would be better for Fitbit to Partner with an App like this Stridekick or Virtual Walk that already specializes in this area. With Virtual Walk you can really Hike some very long distances like the Appalachian Trail. Some of the Hikes are pay on Virtual Walk but they are pretty cheap <i.e. a couple of bucks>...and there are settings for free walking or treadmill. It requires having your phone with you though.
I am new to fitbit and have LOVED the Yosemite solo adventures. I came here to see when or how to get access to more and was disappointed to see that it seems fitbit doesn't have more, and haven't answered questions about whether there will be more. I just got my new versa for Christmas and have been very happy, until now. I guess it's just another big company that doesn't care. Please prove me wrong.
Most fitbits can't survive repeated exposure to showers, let alone swimming...I only say this because during my quest to get my 3rd Surge replacement, tech support said showering could allow water into the hole that detects surrounding air pressure. They did replace it a 3rd time and I no longer wear it in the shower...I have had 0 issues since. Even the band has remained in pristine condition for well over 1 1/2 years. I know very well that there are newer devices that will work while swimming..BTW how would the device (basically a pedometer) even work to record a swim??? Emujo
@DblGee it would be easy for any of those appd to partner up with Fitbit and do just that.
Actually they would not have to "partner up", it would be easy for them to setup access to your Fitbit data, through Fitbits API, without even specifically asking Fitbit for permission
The process is so simple it took me less than 10 minutes to setup a spreadsheet that has direct access to my data.
@Rich_Laue- thank you for the response. I was actually able to communicate with the one of the Virtual Walk Developers today and he was very interested in this idea! We may see something along these lines very soon!! He even said they are working on a Cross Country Walk!

In other words, "No. But I've moved your suggestion to a place where no new feature requests have been acted on in years, because we don't care what our customers want." Welcome to the Fellowship of Forgotten Fitbit Features.
So my family and friends always kick my butt in step challenges, BUT I always have more active minutes, floors and calories burned. Is there any way to add challenges that deal with these aspects?
Hello @Mazzone84 ! Thanks for sharing this suggestion, I moved it to this similar post so you can add your vote to it. Please keep sharing your ideas with us! :womanhap
I would love to see more Solo/Adventure Challenges. Take us on a journey across the globe to places we may never get to see! There is so much wildlife and nature to see but not all can afford a journey like that. We can afford a Fitbit though and how hard would it be to send a couple of your employees backpacking to capture this all? You make trillions off all the Fitbit sales plus I'm sure it would be some kind of write off. Lol.
Hi @MedicMan98 , thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!
Once the few solo and team challenges are done, there are no more routes. More should be added at several times throughout the year. I bought the charge 3 hoping it had new ones but its still the same few I completed over a year ago.
