Thank you for the response to my post. I couldn't agree with you more!! 2020 would be an amazing year if more businesses became more responsible for their products and would become as disability friendly as they like to claim to be!
Why is there no wheelchair setting for Fitbit devices? There are other fitness trackers that have wheelchair-push tracking capabilities, so why not Fitbit? I see from the forums that customers have been asking for this since 2014, so this feature is long overdue.
Hi @fifteenstories, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see wheelchair setting for Fitbit devices. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
Please input chair exercises to include differently able bodied individuals whether a it a hip or knee injury, confinement to a wheelchair or a desk because you are not including a whole demographic of individuals.
I’ve asked this a long time ago being paraplegic and therefore a full time wheelchair user. It would be fantastic for my Fitbit to react and interact with my use of my chair 👍🏼
Tbh its disability discrimination as there's 0 exercises for wheelchair users there also never any response about it becoming wheelchair friendly. With para sports and even the Olympics including disabled why the hell can't the fitbit have exercises etc for us! Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Fitbit seems to ignore all the wheelchair users suggestions / pleas to make allowances and add exercises for wheelchairs available. It’s grossly unfair and exclusive. Many of us have asked / requested inclusions. Please take note and go with the times.
My Alta Fitbit recently stopped working and I changed to the AppleWatch. I am an Apple user, so it is an easy fit. AND, the biggest reason I left Fitbit, the AppleWatch has a wheelchair setting and measures my pushes. I have been asking Fitbit the come up with some kind of wheelchair/push technology FOR YEARS and they have never even responded to my requests. So I have gone too the ‘dark side’. Truth be told, I do miss my Fitbit. I was a loyal Fitbit user and I happily encouraged others to get a Fitbit. But they didn’t come through. They didn’t even try to come through. I love having an accurate understanding of my daily physical activity with my AppleWatch. I would encourage all of you to check it out!
Yes I know but it’s a shed load of dosh. I’m an Apple user with everything else. My Fitbit was a gift. I’ll wait until it’s died a death and then make the jump. Thanks for your input Siby 😀
New Option: pushing a wheelchair or baby stroller when exercising (walking/running). Allows the device to count steps in exercise, rather than considering it a bike ride.
Hi @Bjs23, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see "Wheelchair" option as an exercise mode. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon. You can also vote for this other suggestion: Stroller Mode.
Thank you! No connection to a stroller. I do not believe they take any of our request seriously. I've been on this feed for a couple years now with seeing no progress from Fitbit, very disappointed.
Are you seriously comparing wheelchair pushing to stroller pushing? Uhm, I don’t even know how to respond to that other than to shake my head and roll my eyes. In the end it doesn’t really matter to me. I made the switch to AppleWatch. I miss Fitbit, but Fitbit made no effort to accommodate wheelchair users. And Apple rose to the occasion.
Being a wheelchair user and being compared as if I were pushed in a baby's buggy is more than insulting.
There has to be someone you can ask the right questions. Would you like me to arrange a Zoon meeting with a group of people with different disabilities?
As Rich said this is about actually being in a wheelchair not pushing one. And no way is pushing a stroller the same as pushing a wheelchair unless you have a baby that was over a hundred pounds in there. Most adults way over a 100 pounds. The average height and weight for adult male is 5’9 197 and the average female 5’4 177. In the US of course. In other countries it’s usually lower. That’s according to the CDC. So it’s like comparing apples to watermelons. Even if you have a double stroller. Also I find that pushing a buggy in the grocery store doesn’t accurately track my steps. So I put the Fitbit in my pocket. My wheelchair experience was temporary. But it was for quite awhile. And I was frustrated that I really couldn’t find much out there and what I did find there wasn’t anyway to track it on my Fitbit. Everyone should advocate for my help for people in wheelchairs. In all areas. You never know when you might be in one. And lack of resources in everyday life to help you get in shape or stay in shape is very, very limited. Good luck everyone.
I am finding it really disheartening that in 2021 only Apple is considering wheelchair user. I am not an Apple fan as it too expensive for me.
I really wish the disabled community would gather themselves together and call out companies on social media with their lack of inclusive features.
I am truly disgusted by FitBit, we have asked for this 2014 and the first Apple came out in 2016. in 4 years they have done nothing apart from comparing pushing a stroller with self-propelling a manual wheelchair.
If there is a tech-savvy out here there is a big hole in the market: Android fitness tracker for wheelchair users
