Sense battery draining after iOS app update

Hi there,

Our team has released the new Fitbit iOS App 3.43 version and it should be available for all of you. Please make sure to download it from the App store as this will resolve the battery short life issues experienced on your Sense. Take in mind that this and future Fitbit app versions will require iOS 13.4+.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your continued reports.

Our team is aware of the Sense not holding charge when syncing with iOS devices and they're working to bring a fix as soon as possible. In the meantime, we recommend force quitting the Fitbit app on your iOS devices to prevent the battery from draining when syncing.

I've moved your posts to this thread so we can keep our team informed of this situation. Your patience is truly appreciated and please know your feedback hasn't gone unnoticed.

See you around.

Same issue. My sense won’t make it 24 hours without doing dead. It’s a real pain since I’m in activity challenges and I lose a lot of activity by the time I realize it’s not charged

I'm not having this issue out of the blue! Any idea when there will be a fix?

I mean I'm NOW (not "not")

I am now having to charge my sense twice a day, I cannot even wear it over night to measure sleep anymore as the battery can’t seem to keep its charge. I have tried all the usual steps turning off gps, not using the sp02 watch face (even though that wasn’t a problem before) resetting the watch, none of it seems to work. I do have iPhone and can see there is a known issue since last firmware update/Fitbit app update through iOS…but do you have any update on when this will be fixed?

I didn’t have any issues before the update and it would hold its charge for about a week. It’s now getting ridiculous. I can’t record walks/other exercise sessions for fear it will die mid way through. I don’t even have confidence that it will record my steps for a whole day!

It cost enough to buy the sense in the first place. Really shouldn’t be experiencing these issues. I mean most of the features I bought it for, now don’t work, it’s not fit for purpose. We are also not really getting much in the way of information on when this is likely to be resolved and is just beyond frustrating.

I bought the sense thinking as it’s the latest product, the support in getting issues resolved would be dealt with as a priority, but it doesn’t appear to be the case.

I used to love Fitbit, but I am losing confidence - fast!

I'm having the same problem.  I've had my Sense for 6 months and over the last 5-6 days, the battery only last about 5 hours and then it dies.  I just finished live chat with Fitbit Support and she says that Fitbit is working on an update, but there is literally no estimated time frame to expect this fix.  I'm very frustrated.  I mean, how long am I supposed to wait?  I bought a fitness-health watch so I could actually use it.

Fitbit Support just told me that replacing my Sense would not be a fix, because the issue is with a needed update. So I'm not sure what to do even though I am within the warranty period.

Do we need to get another Sense from company? My sense has had to to be charged twice in one day now. That software upgrade is killing my Sense.

For the Fitbit team.  I was experiencing a 20% drain on my battery per hour.  At 6pm last night, I charged my Fitbit to 100%, went into the app, removed my Fitbit and "Forgot" the device via my iPhones bluetooth settings.  In the last 24 HOURS, I experienced only a 15% drain on my battery which would easily work out to about 6.5 days of run time.  I don't know why the aggressive burn on my battery when connected over bluetooth.  Maybe it is bluetooth.  Maybe it is the app polling the phone?  I just don't get it.  But this really needs to be looked at.  I have all of my apps loaded.  It was even connected to wifi.  Either that do you have any recommendations to control the connection between my phone and my Sense?  I really like my Sense and want to use it until it dies.  20% battery drain per hour is really not acceptable or usable.

My sense is worthless after the update. Battery does not even last a day. I am forced to use my 20 dollar Chinese device since at least when I go to jog it is not dead.  After 6 months this Sense is now worthless and if not fixed in the next day I am going to buy an Apple Watch.  Fix this or Adios

Funny that right after I canceled the Pro Plan that was free with my Sense for 6 months, the Senses updated and now the Sense is not usable due to the battery not lasting one day. During the day today I got three emails my battery was low. Really does no good sending me the battery low warning when what I need is an answer to if or when this is going to be fixed, or if this is what happens when you do not want to pay for the pro plan which I did not use anyway.  I have no choice but to see what deal I can get at Costco on an Apple watch because no word from Fitbit speaks volumes. I really see this as a ploy since I cancelled the pro plan. Probably would not think this was a devious tactic since I cancelled the pro plan if Fitbit sent me a message as to this being a wide problem affecting everyone, but as I said the silence speaks as well. I wonder if the other people in this forum recently cancelled the pro plan after the 6 free months.  Not one word from fitbit, but rather just a lot of complaints.

Thank you so much, I updated to 3.43.1 as you suggested. Fitbit battery life back to normal.

This is exactly what happened to me. Another user suggested force updating the app to version 3.43.1 and it has solved the problem. Please try updating the app to see if that works as it worked for me and appears to have worked for many others having this issue. Just a shame Fitbit couldn’t tell us about it

What about the HR tracking that many have complained about... when is this going to be addressed?

Hi

So in order to get your data on the app, do you then just turn on Bluetooth to allow this and then turn it off again?

I’m a bit confused; i had the same problem but after updating to 3.43.1 (1057) the watch returned to how it previously behaved. That latest version was only recently released.

Hi
I have checked and that update has been done, but I seriously doubt it has fixed the problem. I charged it overnight and have had it on my wrist for less than 30 mins and already 6% drain 😩

You definitely have the very latest update and matching firmware on the watch?
All my friends who have a sense are okay with the latest s/w.
