Zip rapid battery drain on iOS version 2.41.1

Update 3/21/2018: It has taken the team longer to identify the root cause of why some users are experiencing rapid battery drain with while syncing the Zip to an iOS device. We will continue to investigate, but I don't currently have a timeline for fix. Along with turning off all day sync, we do suggest syncing to a computer or Android device if possible. Thanks for your reports and patience.

Update 11/25/2017: We are still aware that some users on iOS are reporting rapid battery drain and are working on the issue. Once I hear further, I will update this thread. Thanks for all your reports.

I've been notified that there are reports of Zip battery draining quickly on iOS version 2.41.1 and our team is currently investigating. If you are experiencing this, we recommend disabling all-day-sync for now. I'll update this post once I hear more. Thanks as always for your patience and understanding.

Turn off All-Day Sync:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Tap on your device
  3. Find the option to turn off All-Day Sync.

Indeed.  If there is a product out there like a Zip, that would actually work with a decent battery life, please post.

Hey there! As mentioned, this is a known issue and it has taken the team longer to identify the root cause of why some users are experiencing rapid battery drain with while syncing the Zip to an iOS device.

Hi,

You keep telling us to turn off all-day sync on our IOS device to keep from
having the Zip battery drained. I haven't had all-day sycn on for more
than a year on my iPhone and I still have battery draining issues. This
isn't a solution.

This really not very helpful information since this is all you have been
able to come up with for a long time now. It's amazing with all of the
technology that works seamlessly with iphones that FITBIT can't figure this
out -- very very disappointing...

Hi,

Thanks for creating the Support Case. Unfortunately, the response was an
offer for a 25% discount on the purchase of a new Fitbit device. My
response to that offer was that the device worked perfectly well and I had
no intention of buying yet another Fitbit device. The problem is that the
IOS app has a problem causing it to drain batteries during the sync process.

I typically sync only 1-2 times each day.  Usually at night.  My battery is dead again. This one lasted a week. It is bizarre that I had a battery last about 3 months with this type of syncing and now I have used 2 batteries in two weeks.  These are new, name-brand, "expensive" batteries.  I bought a 6-pack of them and I suspect that when they are done, I will stop using the Zip.

They didn’t offer me a discount on a new one, they sent me a new one as I told them that my original Zip was only a couple of months old and I no longer wanted  a FITBIT..

So, this is the last chance for Fitbit.

I got it over a month ago and the battery is still full.

I'm just ignoring the multiple battery-level notifications I'm getting each day. When the battery actually dies, I'll replace it. Love the Zip, love the app on my iPhone. As long as they keep talking to each other, I'm happy.

It is even better when you simply separate them from their proximity during the night. My battery now has lasted 6 months before I had to replace it.

Hi everyone! Thanks for sharing your experiences with your Zip. Good to hear that some of you sorted out and you are keeping up the supper stepping.

For those who are still experiencing an issue, please make sure that you have your All Day Sync feature off. And verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed hereAlso, keep in mind that you can always use a compatible computer or Android device to sync.

Catch you later!

I have done all of this and still get (apparently false) medium-to-low battery readings on both occasional iPhone manual and Windows 10 syncs.  Despite the readings, my previous battery lasted about 4 months and the current one -- well, who knows!  It could be dead tomorrow or not.

Also, manually syncing with the iPhone sometimes the app opens blank and then closes without anything being displayed; sometimes it opens and syncs fine.

Meanwhile, Fitbit continues to advertise (falsely) re compatibility with iPhone and re battery life.

So...again...this is BS since syncing is kind of the point. I can’t sync to my iPhone at all. I just sync to my computer, manually. And yes, now my battery is good...but That is not the Point...the Zip should be able to sync to an iPhone without all of the... “oh but you have to do this or you have to do that” or don't promote it as being able to sync...just my humble opinion

Don't offer excuses, because it undermines the User's experience and just leads to the eventual loss of your revenue and your job. Fix it or I'm trashing it, resetting it isn't the answer. I spend more time & money taking the battery out & replacing it than it's worth. Why not take the option out of your App?

I have quit using my Zip due to having to replace the battery at least
every 2 weeks and sometimes more often! As far as I'm concerned it just
doesn't exist any longer. I have tried and tried for a year to get a
solution or a replacement and nothing has satisfactorily happened,
therefore, I'm done!

I'm done too. I've been complaining to Fitbit for almost 6 months now. All they will do is offer you a 25% off coupon on a new one.
However, buying it from them cost 25% more than any place else, so they are not really giving you squat!!!
Also, it is their fault that the Zip's will no longer hold a charge. They were all fine prior to the upgrade that ruined them all.
They owe us alot more than this!!!
